This is a timeline I never thought of but could have happened if the timing was a little different. Ash and May always had a teacher and student relationship so I can see this story going far and into Sinnoh.

It's not unrealistic. Ash has competed in a few contests as well as a means of training

@Pickled_Dill cool I actually started a nuzloke of Elite Redux the other day already wiped twice first to a youngster on route 102 due to the fact I forgot he had 6 pokemon all with ridiculous sets even on easy mode
Then to Steven in Granite cave barely taking out his Metang and midday Lycanroc before his Dhelmise (it has an ability that made it grass/ghost/steel in the game) finished off my last pokemon
It's a great and challenging game with built in level caps even has randomiser options for pokemon, abilities and even movepools and an improved Dexnav
Pokemon summary even includes a page on how to evolve the pokemon as some evolution methods have changed for example:
Haunter, Graveler, machoke, kadabara, Gurdurr and boldore all evolve via level up
Trade with an item like evolve just by using their corresponding item on them
And oddly enough Lombre and Nuzleaf now evolve at lv20 as suppose to needing an evolution stone meaning you can have a Shiftry or Ludicolo before Roxanne as her level cap is 20 on easy mode
