also don't underestimate your 'hunters arm', you use it on monsters by sheathing your weapon and jumping on and grabbing the creature - the same way you would grab a cliff you jumped onto. once attached to the monster you can position yourself over one of those 'glowing green wounds' that will appear on the monster, these appear after the monster has taken enough damage to that area on its body. once you on the monster and are within the area to attack you, you will see some dialogue, giving you the option to 'use hunters arm', i play on the PS5 which is the L2 button to use it, not sure what it is on PC. once you attack with your hunters arm you will reach in and pull that glowing green wound out of its body, instantly replenishing your karakuri thread (and allowing you more than your limit to build even more karakuri), it also allows for a better chance of rewards once it is killed

While I love my boss fights what I really want right now is a new living, virtual world to get lost in. Why the heck is it so extremely hard make these games? It shouldn’t be, really, considering how many open world games they crank out yearly.
sheathe/sprint/slide can be an absolute life saver - if you just sheathe and sprint without sliding then you may as well paint a big smash me now target on yourself
One tip I would recommend that you didn’t cover is aim to dismantle before you finish your karako you should aim for variations such as wings or tails and if they have antlers or horns you should focus on prolonging the fight to focus your damage on those areas; this helps you gain some materials that will be useful in the crafting/forging weapons area and armour sets, I’ve noticed I can get a gem drop if you aim for their back and the birds wings can be crippled leaving them with no other choice but too limp away rather than flying away making those chasing fights a thing of the past if you manage to focus your effort on the wings instead of the tail or head first
You didnt mention that upgrading your little robot guy is really good to do even if you play multiplayer cuz as far as i know i think that is one of the best ways to get more base thread. Now i could be wrong but i think its helpful. I know that is a way to do it but there could be another way.
The only tip i disagree with is sprinting to dodge. The sprint slide has saved me so many times. Not only does it seem to have some i frames but gives your room to breath from any close quarter follow up attacks
I’m about 15 hours in, I find that the faster weapons are the only viable options. The monsters attacks are literally NON STOP, and finding an opening to chain attacks are far and few between. Monster Hunter comparison, the monsters have tells in there moves and they eventually exhaust. Monster Hunter isn’t easy, but you can get a boss down similar to Dark Souls bosses. I like almost everything about the game, but the bosses attacks and the frequency they attack is brutal to use some of the cooler weapons.
Try doing a full meter dump with the karakuri staff, it's the biggest gamble that rarely pays off. The game, just like MH, wants you to deal as much damage as possible to chain staggering, luckily there's karakuri for that, but the one that stuns comes only later.
I use the staff and its all about set up. Which doesnt always pay off but when it does. The damage is great. If using a slow weapon you need to make use of Kurakuri. Springboard is your friend and will get you right up and personal real fast for some nice damage. Much like monster hunter its picking your timings and limiting the moster movement to then deal the big Damage. That said i cant even get into the number of times I was about to hit the final staff combo and have been hit out of the animation
Since I unlocked the sledge hammer karakori I use that during their charging attacks or even to get a head start before they notice me in the damage dealt before we initiate the introduction scene to the fights with the karako; the wall is only viable if you have distance during their charge in my opinion

I'm gonna be honest, the negative reviews are far more due to the fact that monhun and similar games are actually really acquired tastes, and every time a new one comes out people are shocked that they're not into it.
If its a quick attack you need to dodge you use something like the spring. If its something longer then you can sheathe because when sprinting you get such a MASSIVE slide, its insane, I love it.
Game unfortunately launched with very poor performance for lots of players. I’ve not had issues personally, been running a smooth 2k 60fps. But I totally get why the game’s getting the reviews it is from people who are having poor performance. Hopefully the devs can get things sorted.

The problem with PC players (I try to not be one of these guys) are that they will review bomb something if they can not break 100fps. There are reviews on steam saying that "the game is stuck on 70fps fix your trash game".

I did the early access trial on Xbox. I just can’t get past how bad the game looks and performs.. I think I’ll wait until it’s inevitably added to gamepass in 6-12 months and hope they have improved it by then.
Enjoying the game on Series X. The Umbrella is a lot of fun, little slow to get rolling, but hit a few parries and you start dealing a lot of damage. Edit: ALSO the weapon system is cool, being able to combine the effects offered by nodes is super flexible.

Runs good for me, gtx 1070 laptop, playing at 1080p and highest settings.

correct, the sprint slide has an and positioning that puts the others to shame in most cases. you cannot slide without sheathing/sprinting

I made it run at 58-60 fps by turning on V-sync, lock the game at 60 fps and change the sound from STEREO to 7.1/5.1 ( for real) .
He has a $2000 graphics card.
