Plus, It's hard to tell how effective most of these things would be in a real, competitive scenario. For a person with human reactions, the only way to successfully land these chains would be to commit to them before you know whether you landed the combo opener or not, meaning, if you whiff the opening grab/aerial, at least NANA (if not both) will be stuck for a while in a follow-up for a missed combo. @@jasonalen7459 yeah intentionally desyncing and controlling 2 chars at the same time while beating your opponent in neutral and following di is considered easy... like wtf
if i may add on some info to this, the neutral desync that involves doing a special can be easily done without having to throw out a special first just by holding shield and then holding special while shielding. this will make it so that the special input will not buffer for popo, and since you can cancel shield into grab by pressing A, you can easily just grab, release shield, keep holding special, and nana will do whatever special you like at the cost of only putting up shield and whiffing grab. conveniently special+shield also stops you from doing a directional dodge in this game so that helps with easily deciding which direction special to do!
Finally! Someone who figured this out! Another bit of info just for you, you can decync off of side b in the same way you decync off of a down throw, try it out. That means if you buffer something for one of them, as long as you do SOMETHING for the other, both will happen causing a decync, if you don’t do anything for one of them, it won’t work
What I recommend to anyone trying to desync for the first time is to adjust the speed in advanced settings in training mode. It really helps you understand what timing you need. As you get better you can speed up the time bit by bit until you can do it normally.

Pretty cool to see such a high quality guide coming from such a small youtuber. great job dude! Also I remember one time when I was goofing off with the ice climbers in training mode, and nana got permanently desynced. not just like, a small temporary thing that reverts once they get close together, but nana was totally messed up. she wouldnt respond to any commands, and would only move slightly when we were close together, and even then she would go really slowly, her walk animtaion was broken, and if you went to fast she'd fall behind. Whenever popo died, and nana vanished, even after I got off the respawn platform, nana would just hover there for a few more seconds, and even after taking damage or getting launched she would stay In this state. No matter how hard I tried I couldnt recreate it, and I still wonder how it happened. just thought id share
I honestly really love this video, I’ve always wanted to properly play the twins, 3:44 took me ab an hour to learn and I’m looking forward to try the rest of the combos on here. Thank you
A good way to time nanas input on the down throw is to put the input for her right when she does her cute jump animation. I’ve been practicing different combos for a while now thank you for this 🙏🏻
Great video Izaw! Your Smash IQ is unreal as always and the quality of content is fantastic as well. This opens up so many options for stuff like nair or f-tilt then neutral-B jab-locking at low%.
Viktor Lindwall Am I the only one that likes playing Icies without wobbling? I’m glad it’s gone cause it just warped their meta game around it so hard. They are a ton more fun without trying to go for wobbling in Melee imo
Well dont amibos learn to fight against you by fighting you and picking up on the habits I'm going to get an icies ammibo and train it as a teammate ammibo
So going frame by frame in training I think I've figured out the best way to do the down throw + roll desync is to watch when the ice climbers close their eyes. No seriously if you input the roll when Nana's eyes are closed during the slam (while you are actually slamming down) and then up air when your eyes are close it works perfectly.
@@whaloob you have to buffer the nair for the roll to happen. i spent forever trying just the roll before slowing it down and realizing i had to nair as i release the roll for anything to happen.
@@DudleyOP what made me consistent at it is this: when you input the down throw, wait until popo is at the height of his jump and about to slam. Then hold forward+shield to input a shield roll. Keep holding it until you see the blue flashing light from the opponent hitting the ground (or some people use Nana's cheering jump animation as the marker) and immediately let go of shield+forward before inputing jump and attack at the same time
This is great! Very detailed and thorough. The only thing I think this needs is some button combos on-screen. It can get a bit wordy and hard to follow at some points, and I think a simple visual to show the inputs that are happening would clarify things a lot.
Could anyone confirm whether the one at 6:44, the "holding neutral" desync still works? I can't seem to make it work despite that the inputs seems so simple, and all the other ones seem to work.
I found a way like this where you grab then buffer neutral b. After that hold a direction like to your right. If done right nana will do a side b after running foward
I learned this in under a minute, well the first part of the grab portion. What really helped me is when you grab, hit b to do the head butt animation. In the midst of that hold down. You will see nana do the down b freeze. Which was in put by you, while hold down, and already pressing b after. Then it will switch to popo. Quickly choose a special option, after that it will switch to nana choose a special option. Then on and on. Only thing nana can’t do is grab, but popo can to reset. A basic starter combo is grab hit b a couple of times to head but then press down, in the midst of you pressing b nana will do down b freeze. Then quickly press down b again to have popo do freeze. When popo is in his freeze animation you now have control over nana, run up with her and do an up-tilt. While she’s in that animation you are now in control of popo now have him run up and to an up air. And you can create your own string along the way.
after watching this I've been practicing for about 30 min and I already got down a pretty dirty 0 - to - death combo at the ledge. my new favorite character
I tried to figure it out once like 3 years ago. I figured out kind of how to desync, but I didn't know what to do after I achieved it, and I could only do it at .75x speed

Melee: Sakurai: hey let's put ice climbers in the game i'm sure they'll be fun Wobbling: No Brawl: Sakurai: Ok removed wobbling ice climbers should be fun now. Chaingrabbing: nope Smash 4: Sakurai: Ok I give up ice climbers are not fun. Ultimate: Sakurai: ok maybe... Desyncs: N O P E
I found it so amazing how Nintendo implemented the Ice Climbers, two characters from a simple vertical-scrolling climbing game, so you can do the wackiest stuff with the double character
by the way, when you hold down to input a down throw, use the left analog stick instead of the right, and press b the exact same time as you do this, to instantly input a down throw to a down b instantly and quite easily. Hope this helped because I was struggling to input this.
i mean its not as broken as it was in the other games because you just have to read their desync method and punish them for doing so. Like charge fsmash and wait for them to roll/spot dodge or something like that
Ice Climbers are like the forbidden demons of Smash. Call upon them and you straight up just win the game, but in return for victory you must sacrifice your hands.

Izaw NO! Don't teach them the ways, they will go online and ruin us
Doing these things in lag online sounds like more trouble than it's worth
HAHAHAHAHAAAAA!
Even if I watched this,I would suck at it.
You good.
If a person goes to the lab and has the patience to learn tech then id be much happier
Knowledge is made to be shared
I honestly really love this video, I’ve always wanted to properly play the twins, 3:44 took me ab an hour to learn and I’m looking forward to try the rest of the combos on here. Thank you
Why the ice climbers were removed in smash four now becomes apparent.
Because the mobile version of smash Wii u couldn't handle them on a technical level
jesse
whoosh
jesse Except the Ds is a mobile gaming system
That's not a whoosh
1 0
it is a whoosh
A good way to time nanas input on the down throw is to put the input for her right when she does her cute jump animation. I’ve been practicing different combos for a while now thank you for this 🙏🏻
That is amazing, but it sounds a lot like work. O.o
Start with the down throw version. Its the eaisest imo... Or maybe u wanna start with the hardest and work your way down
Sirro Minus hElP i cant do any i dont know what im doing wrong
I think the problem is more with understanding the terms and instructions he's giving
I like how ice climbers were so casual and nobody cared about them until this guy uploaded this video...
Perfect! I just thought about maining them today.. 🙈
lol Taddl ^^ Cool, dass du dich ins Competitive Smash umschaust :D
LetsTaddl I mean, this a long and hard road to godhood, not a path to be set upon on a whim.
Jk you can probably learn the basic desyncs with practice
Maine sie schon lange :)
ja moin
Okay, ich hab ne menge leute unter einem izaw video erwartet aber ich hab nicht dich erwartet.... also wann kommt das iceis higlight video ? :D
Dude, you restored my faith in the IC's. Brawl main looks awesome!
Sakurai: Interesting...would be a shame if my team and I...nerfed that.
Great video Izaw! Your Smash IQ is unreal as always and the quality of content is fantastic as well. This opens up so many options for stuff like nair or f-tilt then neutral-B jab-locking at low%.
Izaw YES! The second I get my switch I'll main Ice climbers. They were my OG mains, even before I knew of certain...forbidden knowledge!
Viktor Lindwall Am I the only one that likes playing Icies without wobbling? I’m glad it’s gone cause it just warped their meta game around it so hard. They are a ton more fun without trying to go for wobbling in Melee imo
Wow. This means a whole new thing for smash. Ice Climbers are one of my favorite characters and now I'm going to need to train with these combos
It has begun.
NINTENDO: HOLD UP...
Can Ice Climber Amiibo's learn this???
I’ve seen my amiibo do some wild stuff, so I don’t think it’s far fetched to see ic amiibos desync
I fucking hope not. I don’t want to get chain grab cockblocked by a cpu
First person I've seen to actually use an amiibo.
Holy balls, 3:44 is hard af. can hardly do it in 1/4 speed in training lol
I still can’t do it lol
I’m trying it with 1 Frame, I can’t get the roll right?? I’m missing something
@@whaloob you have to buffer the nair for the roll to happen. i spent forever trying just the roll before slowing it down and realizing i had to nair as i release the roll for anything to happen.
Still don't understand that first roll can never get timing right even if I do I can't replicate it
@@DudleyOP what made me consistent at it is this: when you input the down throw, wait until popo is at the height of his jump and about to slam.
I just started playing these bois and they're gonna be my main after this
Henry Gelber hows the porgress
Ice Climbers is-without a shadow of a doubt-the hardest character to play correctly in all of ultimate
Could anyone confirm whether the one at 6:44, the "holding neutral" desync still works? I can't seem to make it work despite that the inputs seems so simple, and all the other ones seem to work.
I agree, I've tried and I can't get it. I can even desync off a landing jab but I can't do that one
Same
I found a way like this where you grab then buffer neutral b. After that hold a direction like to your right. If done right nana will do a side b after running foward
I play ice climbers whenever I wanna have some good old casual fun, but i always wanted to learn how to desync. Thanks for the guide!
Why did you upload this
So that I can whoop you online
Can’t wait to be salty as freak
@@ZiyaB3ast not if I play with my zoner boner with Simon Belmont
To protect the world from devastation, To unite all people within our nation.
I found a way to desync them really easily!!!! When popo grabs the oponent, press a for an attack and immediately press down b and then combo away
I can't seem to get it. Do you press a to pummel?
@@Smug-Sonic you have to grab the oponent, tap a while grabbing them then press down b immediately afterwards
@@rayquazaking183
So what’s the input layout?

So down smash immediately after down throw, or A+Down+D-Smash at the same time?
after watching this I've been practicing for about 30 min and I already got down a pretty dirty 0 - to - death combo at the ledge.
my new favorite character
I think I’m too stupid for this 😢
I tried to figure it out once like 3 years ago. I figured out kind of how to desync, but I didn't know what to do after I achieved it, and I could only do it at .75x speed
3:33 if anyone havin trouble with this, on the first nana roll u gotta hold the input for a tad bit, after that its ez
You have made a new monster
Izaw I thank you as a melee Icies main these past few months have been rough from wobble bans to evo getting rid of melee and me thinking that Icies are bad in ultimate, I have hope for the future of Icies. Thank you.
Did the update change them?
100%

This looks like an incredible way to get ledge trumps on people, it basically allows you to remove them from the ledge while still covering their return to stage.
holy shit.... ice climbers mains incoming..
I’m not sure if i’m doing it wrong? But when i grab someone nana just cheers she doesnt move
HEY BEFORE YOU BLOW UP JUST WANNA SAY IVE BEEN WATCHING FOR YEARS OK I GOTTA GO BEFORE THESE SUBS START COMING DAWG
Bobs Boi fortnite is cancer
BBG 123 factual statement my man
Technical characters are so much more fun than not technical characters. Time to start practicing Ice Climbers.
Melee:
Sakurai: hey let's put ice climbers in the game i'm sure they'll be fun
Wobbling: No
Brawl:
Sakurai: Ok removed wobbling ice climbers should be fun now.
Chaingrabbing: nope
Smash 4:
Sakurai: Ok I give up ice climbers are not fun.
Ultimate:
Sakurai: ok maybe...
Desyncs: N O P E
The desync make ic fun
Got a new sub, I just realized how many of your vids I've been watching since the release of Ultimate, thanks a lot.
This made no sense to me I felt like I was having a stroke
I found it so amazing how Nintendo implemented the Ice Climbers, two characters from a simple vertical-scrolling climbing game, so you can do the wackiest stuff with the double character
*_No Chroms were harmed during the making of this video._*
its a damn shame he deserves it lol
An easy way for beginners is
Belay (Up B)
Shift AWAY from Nana
And just do a Attack
(Side B)
(Blizzard)
(Etc.)
They went from the worst charecter immdeatily to top tier😂😂😂
They were always top tier tho
Worst?
I think Lucas is the worst in the game
@@xJackDarkStonex no when desync didnt exist they were ass
@NTSCollector-J was this recent bc he was ass at the start
by the way, when you hold down to input a down throw, use the left analog stick instead of the right, and press b the exact same time as you do this, to instantly input a down throw to a down b instantly and quite easily. Hope this helped because I was struggling to input this.
Thanls, I really needed something like this
my god dunno the true tier list from this game
what if I told you there is no true tier list
all characters are op hahah
This is amazing! as someone who is trying to main Ice Climbers this is gonna help me a lot! thank you so much!
i mean its not as broken as it was in the other games because you just have to read their desync method and punish them for doing so. Like charge fsmash and wait for them to roll/spot dodge or something like that
e.
Unless they just punish your random charged smash attacks
Ice Climbers are like the forbidden demons of Smash. Call upon them and you straight up just win the game, but in return for victory you must sacrifice your hands.
Sakurai: *removes desync*
Players: EEEEEE WHYY
Sakurai: A small price to pay for salvation
Ryan Lopez they still all work
The funny thing is I dont play with de-syncs and I can still beat my friend no problem (we are close to same skill level I am just a tad better than him but close)
You can hold down throw and nana spot dodges and still have popo do something and then have nana do something
That feeling when you learn every combo in the video and feel like a god 😏
Hey how do you a dash back? I'm relatively new to Smash and can't quite figure it out.
