Is the 2019 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 a BETTER Nissan 370z?

  • The Infiniti Q60 is an eye catching car with a lot of visual appeal. Under the hood is a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 pumping out 400 HP & mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. On the inside Infiniti did some amazing things with quality of materials and appointments. Is it enough for the price of admission? Is the 2019 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 what the Nissan 370z should be?

Intakes maybe around 450$, if he went custom on the downpipes then maybe 400$ or a little more. Exhaust could be hit or miss from 600-1500 depending on where he got it or got it done. Bov 250$ish and then a tune, assuming he did all the bolt ons first and tuned after rather than multiple tunes, around 700$

It's a shame, but technology and efficiency have led to this. I'm no expert as to how it all works, but turbocharging an engine disrupts the exhaust pulses leading to muted and unsavory exhaust tones; Porsche is probably the best at maintaining somewhat of a desirable exhaust note when it comes this.

Instead I’m getting the red sport coupe (Q60) since she really doesn’t want the four doors any longer. It does lag a bit when you punch it but those tires break loose once those turbos get up to speed. This will be our fifth Infiniti and they’ve held up well so no complaints.

Yes the center stack is a bit dated, but I'm not so in love with the way some of the newer vehicles look like they've super glued a touch screen to the dash. When this car came out I ordered mine a 2017 red interior red exterior with the carbon fiber package every single package available of course it's a redsport. It's missing a couple options that the Germans have but it was the most beautiful and powerful car in its class. And 2 years later not one thing has gone wrong with the car. It's it's a full bolt on car making 460 wheel horsepower and 525 lbs feet of torque to the wheels.

D Lugo I have a 2017 Mercedes GLC43 AMG suv. There was a guy in red sport 400? On the side of the car I can see 3.0t S. He cut me off on a slow moving traffic. When we finally got to a red light where I was behind him on a single lane that splits into two ahead. Light turns green I floored my car and I immediately pulled in front of him at 55mph. He was shocked and stayed behind me for the next 3 miles where he finally made exit.
I don’t know why some people just like to flash their car thinking they own the road.
The GLC43 is a very fast SUV and I have beaten lots of cars such as BMW M550i, Lexus RCF, mustang GT, challenger SRT, Audi S7, Tesla SUV and a corvette!! A vette from a stop light. He punched it and while he was ahead by half a car as we took off, I took over at 45mph and pulled way ahead (he gave me a smile). 43 series is a beast of a car. I will soon tune it with Eurocharge for 467hp and 549 torque to turn it into a beast! It’s been solid reliable now with 56k miles, it runs faster than I bought it new.

Thanks for finally reviewing the Infiniti Q60! This Q-Ship is elegantly sleek and classically touring sport beautiful!!! The interior is GORGEOUS! As opposed to its competitors, I believe the Q60 will look good years from now. The VR30DDTT is awesome in all its iterations! My mouth waters when I see every exterior and interior angle of the Q60!!! Contrastingly, my eyes water when I see the busy-ness of the overly-hyped Supra's exterior, and its' comparatively cheaper quality, mishmash of plastics, interior (reminiscent of the design cheapness of FR-S). I'll take the Q60! Swipe RIGHT for me.

Infiniti is struggling to sell cars right now. Their large SUV sales are keeping them afloat.
They haven’t updated the Q50 or the Q60 in many years and it is killing their sales. Wait till the 2020 models are out and there will be massive discounts($12k+) on these cars.
You can’t buy these cars. You absolutely have to lease them. The depreciation on all Infiniti cars is abysmal. You lose $15k-$20k as you drive it off the lot.

I'd say this is a huge improvement over the 370. Exterior wise completely, and although the info system is a little dated, the 370Z infotainment in 2019 is laughable at best. I'd take this over that any day! The price seems a little marked up tho. Personally I'd say $55,000 would be the sweet spot on the price.

You can buy a slightly used 2018 Sport model for $32k. Exhaust, downpipes, tune ( about $3000) and you'll have around 535hp. 0-60 in about 3.5secs. Run e85 and some bigger turbos for about 600hp ($5000) and you'll be closer to 3 secs flat. also buy the mark 3 tesla screen to fix the outdated infotainment screens. then you got a luxury ride that will beat just about anything you throw at it for around $40k

Great review as always Joe. Love how you highlight the design elements while showing the differnt views from the start...
I myself 'have' (now had) been a die hard Nissan owner for years but they kept letting me down with nothing new, taking too long to refresh their products and also their innovation severely lacks even though I swear their slogan has something about "innovation" in it. Cvts are a let down m, with Infiniti, they've offered us: the consumer nothing new or exciting since the q 60. I was in the market for a sports sedan and I drove the Q60... Powerful!? Yes, nissan makes some of the best v6s Imo, beautiful design,? Yes, that as well but the negatives were too much for me to ignore. What a let down. The interior. It's been years they have done absolutely nothing to keep it modern. My case in point, the multi function display is the worst piece of tech I've seen in a luxury vehicle, my mom's Rogue uses the exact same thing and so has the 06 g35! , as you mentioned the centre display is ancient. Ugh back to that multi function display. Its so upsetting that was the deal breaker for me. An unhonoarble mention, no android auto, key fob is from 2004! My Dad's altima used the same key fob.. Lazy! The handling of the q60 also left a lot to be desired. I ended up test driving the new Genesis g70 and Imo was much an overall better vehicle in almost all depts. I mean where does the q60 have the g70 beat? I don't think it can definitively say even a single area... Sad days for Nissan and Infiniti

The q60 at least the revised version looks amazing on the outside , it has that concept car feel to it ... the only thing I would change in this car is the infotainment system Nissan/ infinity is still behind on the tech aspect. And I would love to see them step it up and incorporate some awesome tech features from their concept vehicles ... or even add things to compete with companies like bmw & Mercedes and even GM , if they do that I guarantee they will kill it in sales
    - Small changes that can be added - better sounding exhaust ( active valve)
    - better infotainment
    - intuitive tech
    - possibly more power
These are just things that can help since INFINITI especially this model is overwhelmingly priced for features that are clearly outdated

Why dont they ditch the excessive chrome trims for a satin or charcoal finish, matte black, or even consider more gloss black on the exterior? My next car is going to be the Genesis G70 2.0T, but it would look so much better with less chrome like the 3.3T does.

After I test drove it, noticed the transmission shifts are very laggy even in sport mode, way too laggy. I dreaded the electronic steering, literally 0 response from the road, it was pure synthetic, i didn't like it at all. The head unit is just as laggy as the transmission. $64k new is way too much, when I was looking at a 2018 Q60 red sport 400 AWD version, I found one at my local Infiniti CPO 1 owner, only 3k miles, it was listed for $48k. Depreciation is horrid on it..... but damn it's fast as hell... I'd like to see nissan use the motor and the awd system in their next Z with a manual. That would be 💦💦
