  • The Academy Color Encoding System, also known as ACES, is becoming a standard color management solution for every VFX studio in the world. With the increased number of collaborations between studios all around the world and the complexity of modern VFX shows, ACES is essential to maintain the workflow of post production end-to-end preserving the artistic intent of the filmmakers. This session is dedicated to demystify the ACES system and to understand its color transformations from Read to Write, and provide VFX artists with an overview to understand the principles and best practices of dealing with an ACES workflow in NUKE. Everything is simple terms, with practical examples and accessible to everyone.

    - We have 10 different standards. We need to create the new one that unify everything! That makes people life easier.
    - ....
    - ...Now we have 11 standards

    Great talk Victor.
Had a lot of trouble convincing people to use Aces. This will help!

I wish Foundry wouldn't wait 3 months to upload event footage.

I find him really embarrassing. He thinks he's Tony Stark and he lives to talk! But he has a talent, he can tell simple things so complex that no one understands it. A narcissist who loves himself so much that he presents his own image in front of an audience of thousands! He is really embarrassing.

I'd like to disagree. It is a simple topic, and as he said, there are only a few clicks in nuke. But he took the long route, explaining Color Space Management pipeline with IDT / ODT, Monitoring and everything. I like that he does the occasional joke. Its a good overview, you can watch this as a student who is just learning comp (hey, thats me :D ) and still understand every operation and the reason behind it clearly. It's not dry this way and I think I would have cracked a laugh when I would have been there and heard him say, that he will tell me all the nodes when I buy him a beer :D

That picture is hilarious! Total online dating profile pic. It's got to have been through Photoshop and Nuke a number of times. He's a good technical Nuke artist and teacher though.
