Today CG supervisor asked me to render shots with chromakey in ACES, the first link googled was this video. Absolutely correct, simple and fast, thank you so much!
Thank you! Here is another ACES tutorial in wich Fin Jäger talks about other file types from more cameras: ruclips.net/video/8SG80SSkyGU/видео.html Cheers!
Always been confused with how resolve handles the output transform setting, whether it was just for monitor preview or deliver page file output!.... Its both! thanks for the clarity.
Thank you, very well explained. What about dealing with Alexa Mini footage? How would be the workflow setting it up and rendering out in resolve and what would the settings in Nuke look like?
It should work the same way as with BMD Raw files. That means once your project is set to ACES the RAW Alexa footage should automatically get the right input device transform from Resolve. (But that is just a wild guess. I am not a Resolve/ACES expert ;-)
Thanks so much for this training video, I just wondering on nuke ACES, if I need to output for HDR (youtube HDR mode), and Dobly vision! What is the ODT suggestion for both format require ?
Hi Jimmy, I am sorry but I don’t know the answer to your question. But! I bet Fin Jäger might be able to help you! You can find him on Facebook in most of the Foundry Nuke user groups. Cheers!
Great Tutorial. I just didn't understand why the VFX work is done after OCIO File Transform with a lut. Shouldn't the work be done on a clean scene-referred linear ACEScg and the lut applied at last step for viewing purposes only? and does exporting from Nuke include the lut applied at first step?
Hi Eyas, I used the OCIOFileTransform to normalize my plate. This is a step I would always invert at the end of the comp. That way (with the OCIO… ) you don’t break scene liniarity. But your can absolutely also work the way you described it! (LUT to preview) Cheers!
@@LoveVFX well .. i spent hell a lot of time looking for it with no avail. do you think it would work if I grabbed the aces_1.3 folder from a friend who has nuke 14 and deploy it to my nuke 12 folder ? would that work ?
Your reference to Alex gave me instant confidence that this tutorial would be useful. Thanks to you and Alex.
Fantastic video, this is the clearest I've ever seen the ACES process explained
Thank you Sam!
I could not have done this video without the help of the ACES master Alex Fry!
I’m glad you like it!
Happy New Year!

It makes me happy and proud to read that!
Thank you very much for the kind words!
Cheers!
Thank you so much for this! I've spent hours trying to figure this workflow out and you presented it so clearly and precisely.
Thank you Sam! :-)
Worked perfectly, thanks!
Great Tutorial! After watching this one, I would love to see more camera types being processed. Your explanation is amazing and easy to follow!
Thank you!

@@LoveVFX I got it. Thanks
how to get aces 1.3 into nuke 12.2v2 ? can't seam to find it anywhere. I can't upgrade to nuke 14 yet. any thoughts ?
Hi yousef,
the ACES video is over 3 years old but I think you can get newer ocio configs into nuke 12.2. Your best chance is to Google it ;-)
Cheers!

Here is were the ocio config folders should be placed:
C:\Program Files\Nuke12.2v2\plugins\OCIOConfigs\configs
Cheers!
