I remember taking the 17 bus out of Diridon Station to get up to Santa Cruz when I was a teenager! I'd pack everything I could into a beach bag and head up! I'd wander all day until the last bus was leaving out of town. I got stranded up there once and slept on the beach. It was a very beautiful experience.

Emily Artful I've had the same experience with a group of friends too! It's seriously something else to listen to the waves while you fall asleep.
Emily thank you for sharing.. I actually went to the woods alone for the first time. Got lost Found my way out discovered fields, paths, hills. Went everywhere for over 5 hours with rests on the way. What a wonderful experience I had. I felt safe.

Girl playing the bathtub for hours was my child as well playing with my dinosaurs! I also used to do swimming classes for a long time and I have to live by a body of water as well🙌🏻

I grew up in a costal town but moved away when I was 18, ever since then and even now as a 30yr old I desperately miss the sea and I feel my happiest around water. I was obsessed with the Little Mermaid as a child and spent hours in the bath, in my own imaginary sea world. Green being my favourite colour is also a bonus xD I want that hair!

This is one of my favorite paintings. Not just my favorite of your works but a top 10 of all the artworks I've ever seen. I connect to it as a person born with a rare skin disease, baths have always been a place more painful than pleasurable. This painting lifts me up, we see reflections of ourselves in water and this piece reminds me that my mind is more creative than the level of intensity of care I must endure. I hope you continue to make fine works of wonder. Thank you for your creative expressions! P.S. my skin disease is under the family name Ichthyosis. The word "Ich" means fish in Greek or Latin. So yes I'm a mermaid too. 😁

I used to live in Austin and my husband used to live in San Jose. We visit each every year to visit family. Usually we go to Santa Cruz for a day when we go to San Jose. I love how soft and warm the sand is! This painting is amazing, and really conveys your love for the water. :)
I live just south of San Jose, and I love going to the beach almost every day of summer. Santa Cruz is my favorite because it has the boardwalk, fun rides, and the amazing beach. I'm super excited for summer because of the beach.

I love this so much, when I was a child I used to take baths all the time and I always played that I was a mermaid or Pocahontas. The bathtub is a wonderful magical place when you're a child

YES, I did that too! I think lots of little kids did but still it brings back such great memories. My toy wolves and lions and all these other random animals 😁 It was so great. Good times haha

My first thought when I started the video was "hey, that looks like Monterey Bay Aquarium!" and then you said you grew up in San Jose and that's where I grew up and still live. Can you believe the cement boat at Seacliff finally broke apart? I was so sad. Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is my happy place. Like people can have Disneyland, give me the open sea air and waves with my roller coasters and merry go rounds!

I never met anyone who felt the same way about water as I do :) I wish I could be a mermaid because I feel happiest in the water and swimming is one of my favorite things to do
Also I live in Houston and I seriously go to Austin just for the swimming holes because the beaches here suck so much lol. Hamilton pool is probably my favorite place to go swimming in Texas

Used to bring my pillow and blankets in the tub and sleep there overnight. Love the water. And my son used to play for hours in the tub with his toys, talking to them, and imagining.
