Creeping Death was my introduction to Metallica It was a track on a compilation album I bought called Hell comes to your house. I was hooked and it is still my favorite Metallica song.
Wait--wasn't _Hell Comes to Your House_ a compilation of death rock from southern California, such as Christian Death and 45 Grave? It came out in 1981 (before Metallica released their first album).
@@mournblade1066 Not sure about that. But this was all metal bands ruclips.net/video/qxL_4kK9P0k/видео.html is the link to the whole album here on youtube
I got this album shortly after it dropped, and it was pretty shocking at the time being hit in the face with Fight Fire With Fire. It was heavier than anything I'd ever heard (I was already into Ozzy/Maiden/Priest but this was another level). It actually took me a while to be able to appreciate the band. Creeping Death's riff was the first one to grow on me, and then of course For Whom the Bell Tolls is undeniable too.
Yeah, people forget that Metallica was by far the heaviest, most extreme thing out for a decent portion of the early 80s. Slayer already had a record and a tour by ‘84, but Metallica was still several cuts above the Priests and Maidens at the time in terms of heaviness and extremity, and they were even heavier this album and the next. Chuck Schuldiner, often considered the founder of Death Metal, stated himself in an interview that a major part of the growing extreme metal scene as a whole, including his music, came from Metallica’s influence.
Well that takes me back, buying this album from Virgin Records on the day it was released for £2.99! What an immense album it is, such a big evolution from Kill ‘em All and had the pleasure to see them on the tour as well. RIP Cliff.

The chorus to Escape was the thing that really got me hooked into Metallica back in the eighties. It just instantly got stuck in my head and I still think it's one of the catchiest melodies they ever wrote. Don't have a clue why everybody else hates it 🤷
the reason everyone hates it is because james hetfeild hates it and he said that it was just added to be an easy radio hit because the studio told them to make one. don't get me wrong I love this song but I understand why people wouldn't really like that.
@@elliottoneill785 Probably that's the main reason for most. But Kira here seemed to dislike the chorus melody on this video anyhow, I don't know if she knew about the controversy beforehand. Just a heads up if you're gonna listen to Kill 'em All: The original release back in the 80's included two covers, Blitzkrieg and Am I Evil. Both great songs. That's the way the album was for many years, until recently. For whatever reason the new version doesn't include them.
just love your reaction to Call of Ktulu. was fab in my teens when this Album came out just bashing my drums to the Whole Album . Tempo changes in Call of Ktulu . such a hook and Iconic Album. I Saw Metallica Live at Monster Rock Fest Donnington 1987. adore them ever since.
Great reaction, and you're right about Call of Ktulu it is a masterpiece! I would highly recommend their 4th album "And Justice For All" I think you'd really dig it!
"Cthulhu", nailed it 😄 It's bloody amazing, and there's an even more epic version of this song on "Symphony and Metallica". I can never say which version I like better, but if a more grandiose\bombastic version sounds interesting you must look it up.
one thing you might want to take into account, back in the days when this album was released, albums were not on CD's, they were on cassette tapes with a Side "A" and a Side "B" and many times songs were arranged in specific order depending on the side the song was on, sometimes each side was more themed to a certain way or "stronger" songs were first in the list of their side, it might be interesting to listen to the songs as they were listed per side, the lull of the album you pointed out may not be so prevalent , but it would provide, IMHO, a more realistic experience of how the album was experienced when it was originally released
Thrash is actually closer kin to jazz than you might expect with how the solo sections are structured, especially on e.g. Megadeth's Rust in Peace where the solos are super modal.
It was great watching you discover Creeping Death and The call of Cthulu, both great songs that close up really well the album. I have to say I was surprised to hear that For whom the bell tolls was your least favorite song. but I enjoyed watching your whole video. Saludos de México

I was always put off by their name thinking how bad are they with a name like that? Late 1987 i heard Creeping Death and was blown away by it. Next day i was in my local record shop and bought Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets. Was too late to see them with Cliff as my first gig was in September 1988. in Edinburgh. Saw them again in May 1990 in Glasgow and that was the end of me going to see them live. To this day Ride...is still my favourite.
I was born in the 80s and got this album when I was 13 and fell in love with it - listened to it 100s of times that first year. Then one of hte first concerts I went to when I was 14 was the 2000 Summer Sanitarium tour with Korn, Kid Rock, PM5K, SOAD, and Metallica - was a pretty sweet exxperience - metallica played like a 2 hour set - hearing 40k people chanting "DIE BY MY HAND" is pretty epic
You seemed to really enjoy Ride the Lightning and Call of Ktulu. Interestingly, those are the two songs for which Dave Mustaine has shared writing credit. He wrote a few of the riffs from Lightning, and according to him he wrote almost all of the riffs for Ktulu.
This album has three hits: For Whom The Bell Tolls, Fade To Black and Creeping Death. My personal favorite is Creeping Death, especially hearing it live when 100.000 people all chant "DIE" over and over :D
Or Moscow. There's never been a definitive report on how many fans were in attendance, but the general consensus is over a million. Some reports are even as high as 1.6 million.
I really enjoy your style and hearing your thoughts. As much as you loved Lateralus (the song) from TOOL, I'm convinced you'd really enjoy the album and I'd very much like to see your reaction and hear your thoughts.
This is my favorite Metallica album. Its so heavy, and its the last time you can really hear the rawness of their early writing style, before they started getting more commercialized.
My late friend introduced me to Metallica through this album ("Creeping Death" specifically) but they are still in my Top 5...up and coming RUclipsr myself and still trying!! Nice reactions, though!
Pretty sure that Het hates the song Escape, I remember reading that he only wrote it because the label wanted 8 tracks and a "single" on the record. They were still really finding their own vibe on here. Coming off the back of Kill 'em All which is very Motorhead and Diamond Head inflected with a more "rock" sound, they took what they learned worked off this record and then produced a stone cold masterpiece that people will still be gushing over in a hundred years. 🤟🏽
The title track is probably my favorite, good reaction! I think you would like Tesseract - Altered State, proggy in the vein of Tool. Glad you're back listening to metal 🙌

Just a heads up if you're gonna listen to Kill 'em All: The original release back in the 80's included two covers, Blitzkrieg and Am I Evil. Both great songs. That's the way the album was for many years, until recently. For whatever reason the new version doesn't include them.
LOVE that album to death !!
So nice to see you rocking out again : )
just love your reaction to Call of Ktulu. was fab in my teens when this Album came out just bashing my drums to the Whole Album .
First time i listened to Metallica I bought the cassette ride the lightning. I had no idea my life was about to change forever
"Cthulhu", nailed it 😄
It's bloody amazing, and there's an even more epic version of this song on "Symphony and Metallica". I can never say which version I like better, but if a more grandiose\bombastic version sounds interesting you must look it up.
I love that you chose this Kira.
I love that you dig the sound track of my youth 🖤
My favourite Metallica Album 🤟🤟🤟
This was my introduction into Metal music, age 15, that was 30 years ago!!!Never looked back!!!
one thing you might want to take into account, back in the days when this album was released, albums were not on CD's, they were on cassette tapes with a Side "A" and a Side "B" and many times songs were arranged in specific order depending on the side the song was on, sometimes each side was more themed to a certain way or "stronger" songs were first in the list of their side, it might be interesting to listen to the songs as they were listed per side, the lull of the album you pointed out may not be so prevalent , but it would provide, IMHO, a more realistic experience of how the album was experienced when it was originally released
Thrash is actually closer kin to jazz than you might expect with how the solo sections are structured, especially on e.g. Megadeth's Rust in Peace where the solos are super modal.
How can you not mention the fact that Peace Sells is basically Jazz infested as Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson were Jazz musicians.
Exactly! Just faster!
It was great watching you discover Creeping Death and The call of Cthulu, both great songs that close up really well the album. I have to say I was surprised to hear that For whom the bell tolls was your least favorite song. but I enjoyed watching your whole video. Saludos de México
Me too, I listen them already from 80´s and know them from my oldest brother, I heard fisrt time this album on cassette !! it´s best album together with Master Of Puppets !!! I love them !!!
This was a good pick!
You are so damn cool :). Laughed out loud when you noticed the instrumental track :D.
Something tells me after get more used to metal, you will end up liking stuff like the band Death or even some Atmospheric Black Metal. A bit more focus on the atmosphere and instruments.
Many days as a teen in my room with the headphones on listening to this. Or at my friends playing video games with this music playing. Ahhhh.... Good times
I saw Metallica OPEN, thats right OPEN for Ozzy back in 86 before Cliff Burton died (RIP bro). With only 3 albums out it was an experience I will never forget. It was this album that set the bar for my youth and Metal in general. I air guitared for hours to this album and it is still by far my favorite Metallica album. Metal Up Your Ass people !!!!
More Bowie would be great! Station to Station or Low would probably be worth checking next. Your reaction to Ziggy reminded me of my own first reaction to that album, so it took me back in the best way
I was always put off by their name thinking how bad are they with a name like that? Late 1987 i heard Creeping Death and was blown away by it. Next day i was in my local record shop and bought Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets. Was too late to see them with Cliff as my first gig was in September 1988. in Edinburgh. Saw them again in May 1990 in Glasgow and that was the end of me going to see them live. To this day Ride...is still my favourite.
This was an awesome reaction!
Hey, looking at your hoodie, i recommend "...And justice for all" album
I strongly suggest: My bloody valentine - Loveless album. And Honey Power song by them. Love your videos, keep it coming
Love your reaction!
This album has three hits: For Whom The Bell Tolls, Fade To Black and Creeping Death. My personal favorite is Creeping Death, especially hearing it live when 100.000 people all chant "DIE" over and over :D
YES!!!, especially at seattle '89! 🤘🤘
The first Met album I owned...changed my life: the power, the musicianship, masterpiece!
I think an album you’d really enjoy listening to thrash wise is Spreading The Disease by Anthrax
We grew up with this in the 80's so fun living vicariously through the younger generation. I am reliving this great music good job kira.
Kill 'Em All got me started, this album got me hooked, and I saw the next three album tours. Such great music!
Shxt , listening to this reaction just reminded me of how great this album was/is.
Gotta listen to the whole album again myself.
Up yours.
Just go ahead & get it over with-
MASTER! MASTER!
This is my favorite Metallica album. Its so heavy, and its the last time you can really hear the rawness of their early writing style, before they started getting more commercialized.
If you like Call of Ktulu, you should check out To Live is to Die on the And Justice For All album. That's my favorite Metallica instrumental.
Pulling teeth anesthesia) is my favorite Metallica instrumental
My late friend introduced me to Metallica through this album ("Creeping Death" specifically) but they are still in my Top 5...up and coming RUclipsr myself and still trying!! Nice reactions, though!
Great reaction. Your editing is getting better and better
about to watch this, and I am so excited to see you headbang. You have super Bruce Dickinson 1982 hair;)
Great intro!
The best thirty-seven minutes I spent today. Thanks.
Interested in seeing you react to G&R's Use Your Illusion vol. 1 & 2. Saw Metallica double bill with them back in 92.
Trapped under ice always be my favorite (secret, even myself doesn't know it)
The title track is probably my favorite, good reaction! I think you would like Tesseract - Altered State, proggy in the vein of Tool. Glad you're back listening to metal 🙌
can’t wait for you to hear and justice for all, imo the best album by Metallica!
But all they’re records are amazing!
Love the references to the novel For Whom the Bell Tolls in the song.
Luckily for me I was exposed to this as a new album while in my teens. Metallica seemed like the fastest band on the planet.
They where in first two albums.
Awesome, thank you
Yes! Please do kill em all next. My fav Metallica album!
Hey Kira I'd like to recommend you reacting to the German Power Metal band Blind Guardian. Personally I think you'd love their 1995 album 'Imaginations From The Other Side'.
