The last few xianxia dramas I’ve seen are open-ending and this was not an exception. Some may have complained about the story’s pacing, but I greatly enjoyed this slow-burn romance. Xiao Zhan delivers again another great performance (especially during those angst/crying scenes). This is my first time watching the female lead, but I like her and thought she was good in her role. The overall story felt solid and the chemistry between all characters was well-balanced. Not only did I enjoy the relationship of the main leads, but particularly Shi Ying and the High Priest. I could feel how deeply High Priest cared for Shi Ying, not just in a role as his master but at times as a father figure. The CGI, cinematography, and fighting scenes are so well done along with some great OST. I highly recommend it, especially if you love xianxia/xuanhuan.
Exactly what you said ! Although I would classify this as more Xuan Huan than Xian Xia but it’s nonetheless a great drama. I don’t care much for the universe of Yun Huang (the same as Mirror Twin Cities) but the characterization in this drama is just amazing, especially Shi Ying. Kudos also to Ren Min who portrayed Zhu Yan, both truly have outdone themselves. And yes, CGI is some of the best Cdrama has had to offer in recent years. And the soundtrack, both the OST and the instrumental are amazing also. Thanks for making this MV happen ❤❤❤ Edit: You also chose the best track in drama for this video! ❤

I just discovered XZ in this drama. I love it. I watched 3 times. I love the story lines between the master n student. How they first met n love n care for each other. But the ending hurt me so much. I wish the writer a bit nicer towards them cus they went thru a lot of hardships together 😭😭😭. I hope they have season 2.

This drama reignited my interests in cdrama. This is also the first time I met XZ. It made a lasting impact on me. XZ acting is top notched that I was instantly hooked. He was so good both in the fight scene and emotional scenes that even the director said that for him their could be no other Shi Ying except Xiao Zhan. I guess this is the highest compliment that any actor could get from his director. He even said that in the scene where XZ portrays a crying Shi Ying upon learning of his mothers death, he couldn't help but cry too. The BTS truly proved this that everyone in the set were also emotionally moved that even after the director said cut already. That's how good XZ acting here. He was also very good in the fight scene, and also the sweet scenes. I hope his efforts would be recognized and he gets an acting award here. The OSTs are beautiful and CGI too. What else can I say. I'm trapped. Not complaining though.😊😂
You should see Xiao Zhan in The Untamed! By far my favorite drama ever and I believe his best performance yet. He captured the character he portrayed incredibly well, as did his Co-Star Wang Yibo

Just finished the drama. I’m glad that I watched your beautiful edits before the last 8 episodes to be mentally prepared. With everything happening in the drama , their love story was very interrupted and choppy through the production. I really enjoyed watching this drama. 43 episodes can be a bit long but I couldn’t stop watching it over and over. I think I watched about 4 times already. The cinematography and the love story between Zhuyan and Shiying were so beautiful and touching! The actress for Zhuyan looked so innocent and pure and so perfect for the role ; made the drama much more interesting and believable! I felt so young and innocent while watching the drama……an eternal love was portrayed perfectly in this fantasy make believe! Two thumbs up from me!!
I saw it over and over on Netflix. I renewed my account with Netflix just to see XiaoZhan. I loved this Longest Promise and the Special effects were great.
This is one of the best xianxia dramas I've watched. Sadly, it's underrated and criticized internationally. I admit I hated the first few episodes due to the annoying personality of the female lead but she was able to redeem herself in the later episodes. I highly recommend watching this without listening to the hate comments an try sticking until the end, you might not regret it. 😉 Kudos to everyone involved in the making of this drama. Also, I would like to praise #XiaoZhan 's performance here, he's amazing as always! All of the cast did great! 100% recommend! ❤
This is great drama and by word of mouth people are seeing it and loving it . Sadly Antis and some Jealous CP / Yizhan fans spread negative news about the lead actress Ren Min like they did to Yang Zi in the Oath of Love .. because they only want to see Xiao Zhan as Wei Wuxian and with Wang Yibo . But real fans of Xiao Zhan want to see all his works and support him 100%.
This drama is so full of pain but every bit of it is so worth it. i smile, i laugh and i cry all because of them. They love each other as much as i expected them to be. but i took a long time to heal from the ending.. in the end zhuyan is alone again

I also loved how kind and caring Zhu Yan was towards everyone. Her character was just so endearing! Xiao Zhan was great no doubt, but Ren Min definitely held her own for me!

I love Xiao Zhan, his acting and his style. But I just couldn’t continue with this drama. I don’t seem to be able to point out exactly why. The whole cinematography could not pull me in at all. Will try watching again this December and see if I can continue.

@@nonakeju8873 I was the same! I cried and laughed with Zhu Yan. I loved her bubbly spirit and character growth later on when she matured towards the later part of the series. I also loved how kind and caring Zhu Yan was towards everyone. Her character was just so endearing!
Xiao Zhan was great no doubt, but Ren Min definitely held her own for me!

I love Xiao Zhan, his acting and his style. But I just couldn’t continue with this drama. I don’t seem to be able to point out exactly why. The whole cinematography could not pull me in at all. Will try watching again this December and see if I can continue.
