Zhang Han is one of China's favorite actors whose career is still stable until now, good acting...first admired Chinese drama after watching his drama. I've finished watching this drama, and I've replayed several episodes, especially the last episode when it returns to the present day.
Women were considered property: property of their fathers, property of their husbands. They were not valued, they were owned, they were sold for huge dowries that would financially help their family, they were married to someone they've never seen, oftentimes in a foreign land to never see their family or homeland again as political pawns in territorial allegiances. She wants no part of this dog and pony show where women are paraded like livestock for purchase in front of a royal person to be chosen as a concubine. Having no choice in the matter, she plays a game she figured would surely make her undesirable, but it backfired on her. She acted crass, disrespectful, bored, simple minded, uneducated in all things a royal deems desirable so as not to be chosen; she was late to the line up, rude to the gal she had to stand next to, knew her sister was the chosen one of her parents so she really didn't care what happened. She disrespected the 4th Prince by not greeting him he moment their eyes met, and when her father corrected her, she gave the least amount of effort in bowing to him from her place in line with the sloppiest arm gesture which told him he didn't much care what he thought of her and she repeatedly looked at the sky or trees rather than meeting his gaze. She denied knowing how to do anything women are taught to do so their 'worth' would increase (poetry, musical instruments, embroidery, singing for example) so as to make the prince think she's ignorant, lazy, unteachable, etc. Everything she believed a prince would want in a concubine, she acted as if she didn't know, didn't have that skill, didn't care to learn so he'd move on and choose someone else. It backfired because in acting this way, indifferent, unimpressed - bored, almost, rude - as if this entire charade was a waste of her time, he saw her spirit, her self discipline, her self awareness, her confidence, her energy, her cleverness; he saw that she wouldn't be easily intimidated or manipulated, she could think critically, wasn't shy or timid, dared to flaunt tradition, and was her own person. He saw someone with whom he'd never be bored, someone who would challenge him to be better, someone who could stand her own. All the other women were mirror images of each other: robots, being products of their upbringing to land a wealthy royal and have servants doing everything for them. She was different and he saw that right off the bat. She'd give him a run for his money and life with her would never be dull. Knowing she didn't think very highly of royal life in a palace would be, at the very least, entertaining for him to observe while she settled into life as his concubine.
Because of her sister,who plotted some bad schemes for her,her sister wants to be consort and didnt want her to attend,so the more she doesn't want her to attend the more eagerness she has to attend 😂
@@humblebee1111 I made up my mind not to waste valuable time and emotionally invest in dramas that don't have a happy ending so what I do now is Google the title of the drama and ask if it has a happy ending because some of these dramas are so damn long I can't do it anymore with a tragic horrifying or sad ending life is too short
No need for short movie just whatch this ,every day anf you wont fell bored but you'll get totured by eager by waiting 1 ep every.. It is a good drama i recommend you watch it
