I’m 22 bro just starting as well if you feel like you’re too late just think there’s always someone older with no flexibility trying lol...I was born with spina biffitol and have been super stiff forever..I really think the hardest part of anything is the flexibility..I’m no pro and I’m not giving advice just letting you know there’s others that feel like it’s too late and still trying..ur still a kid man ..men’s health published a few years ago that 27 is the prime age for a man I have never forgotten that..however we gotta get going man cuz I’d feel even worse typing this at 28 lol. Best of luck to you brother
Appreciate this video... I’ve started doing this exercise not too long before I train and I’ve been seeing results ever since... Even my instructor says my flexibility and follow through on my kicks has improved so I’m happy about that ✊🏾🔥✊🏾🔥 thanks again
These guys are true martial artist right here. I'm 33 and my focus has always been speed and power. My flexibility has always sucked but now the isolation I'm living in has made me start to work overtime to try and get real flexibility like theirs.
Andy, have you looked into the FRC stuff, like the hip CARS, and PAILS/RAILS for getting more control in the end range? I had some external rotation issues and so I started doing some of their 90/90 drills, and it's helped a lot! =D
While watching your vid im wondering if i can still kick high. Im into martial arts for 4yrs but i stopped due to work. I miss doing kicks like that and im still wondering if i can still do the splits
The highest kick I can do is 120 degrees but I am trying to aim for a 180 and my kicks are a bit slow. What training do I do increase my leg strength and speed of my kicks.
Yeah I love martial arts and karate most dont know it's basically a none lethal organization to stop skirmishes at concerts there called on as a distraction positions and other levels come if its needed . The hard work pays off in saved lives .
If you have no time make time. Stretch any where possible . Even at school i stretch in the toilets during break. And find time to throw kicks. You should stretch everyday and also kick everyday. After a couple of weeks take like a whole week off and start training again and you'll see massive imporvements.
I love your kicks, many trickers have awesome agility and flexibility but awful kicks, and that as a taekwondo practitiones really bugs me hahahah. It's always a thrill to watch your performances
Start doing yoga to help ur flexibility. Skip rope to strengthen ur legs, balance, and foot work. Start by throwing low kicks, bring your knee up as high as u can, pivot ur other leg for balance, and throw your kick. Joe rogan did a video explaining how to throw a basic kick.
Good question my friend! It's just about what you are capable of. If the most you can kick at is towards an opponent's thigh (for example), then just practice that kick and make it really really good. For two reasons, one because "I fear the one technique you have done one thousand times, not the one thousand techniques you have done only once." And that as you do it repeatedly, the expansion and contraction of your muscles will actually begin to loosen up and become easier for future use. It's like just practicing the kick does some stretching for you. But don't forget to stretch as well. After you've gotten good at that, do a quick stretch that takes a few seconds (put the kicking leg on the ground and lean over the opposite way) and then do a few kicks and repeat. It's a process but if you do 10-20 a day you will see immediate results. Sorry for the ramble, I just get so excited when people ask questions like this. No matter what age we are we can always start learning!
You seem to confuse self defense with actual technique learning. Literally no one will hold their kick up like that in a fight, but you can sure bet the ones being able to hold it at training will execute it a lot better in a fight than the ones who don't hold while training. The principle is the same with practicing kicks slowly. Are you gonna kick slowly in a real fight? No of course. But practicing it slowly will give you more control and in a fight where you will have to execute it fast, it will be with great great precision and it will feel really easy.
I'm 19, I'm gonna start tricking. Hope I'm not to late, let the journey begin. SO to martialclub
Yeah. You are not late. Go for it.

The real question is, how do you get motivated and disciplined enough to keep at it?
Long term thinking

Haha this is optimal for aesthetics, not so much for combat. But understanding the control ability is very important
This is hollywood kick but its good for footwork
I am man vietnammes
When I'm sparring in my dojo, after I do kicks on my opponent I fake kick and I hit with a backfist.
How did I end up here
I just wanna Hadoken though...
