Its amazing, this was the first aerial tutorial that I ever saw and probably the first tricking tutorial I ever saw and at the begining I didn't get it and for alot of mounths I tried many other tuorials for aerial and other tricks and now I returned to this one and I followed what you said and I finally got it. I know you probably won't notice this since its an old video but thank you guys for intreducing me to tricking and allowimg me to do my first real step into my tricking journey.
HA! Reminds me of a no-contact sparring match I had years ago for funzies. Dude pulled regular, slow ass cartwheels out of nowhere, I just kinda put my foot in the way of his hand, watched him crumple to the grass, and we all had a great laugh! Neither of us were (or are) trained martial artists. However, afterwards, one of our friends watching told me it was kinda an example of 2 different amateurs. The one who sees all the flashy moves in film, and copies those with no practice, and the other who sees the practical, and attempts to teach themselves that. I was honored to be considered the latter. They then compared me to Bruce Lee, to which I responded "Not in this lifetime!". Granted, I have learned a lot from him, in many areas aside from the Martial Arts, but I am no where near that dedicated (I'd be surprised to find out I had 1% of his determination.), experienced, and have a totally different reasoning behind starting my path. I needed to learn how to keep my bulk from being an advantage to my opponent, who was always a bully of mine. Eventually, I had to adapt to having less mass lmao. I'm also a bit taller, and in way worse shape, but I always keep this in mind. It has now been 20 years of my amateur training, which has been very sporadic, due to my particular style of training being a bit strange, and lacking a private area to do so in (I sing metal and shadow-box, it's so much fun!). I have, however, gotten to the point where, if someone picks a fight with me, I'm good. By this, i mean i don't get hurt, and barely hurt my opponent. It has never been my desire to inflict pain, but to avoid it, and show that there is no point in attempting to fight me. It is only when i fight out of anger, that I get my ass handed to me, and I'm okay with that. I call my style Stoned Fist (yeah, my training and love for singing inspired my sn lol) for many reasons. A: It does work best when I am "perfectly intoxicated", much like certain movies I adore (happy accidents lol) B: Is almost purely defensive, aside from a light tap here and there, just to show I could be trying to hurt you, but I do not want to. This usually sends them into a rage which is quite entertaining, as they make more mistakes. C: I just so happen to have really durable body. Yes, I am squishy, but underneath that, very solid. Every single time, no matter the spot on my body, when contact is made, they hurt themselves much worse. Many people have broken hands on my face, I have never broken a bone. Even when my fat ass landed straight on my nose, on concrete. Or got hit by a car. So yeah, I'm stoned, fight like a hippy, and am apparently solid rock. Hence "Stoned Fist". To whomever reads this, thank you! This is something I have been needing to tell. No idea why, maybe pride, maybe to see if it shows some sort of viability to the amateur study of martial arts films (very carefully, I cannot stress this enough! It was after I found an in kinesiology when I started studying biology that I became a bit more serious than some kid playing in his backyard. Just a bit though lol.). I dunno. Anywhoo, I hope you have a wonderful day, that someone looks at you, the way I look at a large pepperoni and bacon pizza, and that in whatever way comes to you, you get to feel what I feel every time I think about the scale of the universe, our place in it, and all the amazing things that we, as a species have accomplished at such a tiny scale, in such a short time! Absolute amazement, wonder, and child-like awe!
I have LITERALLY learnt how to aerial since my previous comment I cannot believe it, thanks SO much guys!! (NOTE: I already had a perfect cartwheel, one handed cartwheel, and butterfly kick, I just had to put it all together and properly attempt the aerial a few times, this video pushed me to do it and gave more useful tips.)
People keep asking how to use this in a fight... why the hell would you want to? Tricking like this is for flare and fun, it's the "art" in martial art. You do things like this to train your body for more versatile movement, but the likelihood of anyone ever using this in a fight without immediately getting destroyed is very low. If ever used, it would be in a combat sport with specific rules that would allow the freedom to do this without getting tackled, like Taido, which has sparring intended to show creativity and versatility of movement rather than brute force and knock out power. It will help with aerial awareness, which is good for being able to recover or catch yourself when being thrown, but this specific application is just for show and exercise. Not everything in martial arts training has to be specifically geared toward a fight, folks. You may find this shocking, but some people train for fun and to keep their bodies moving efficiently, rather than always focusing on whether or not you can beat some person's ass in a statistically rare scenario where escaping isn't an option. This isn't MMA, and I hope you aren't learning this in hopes to take it into a cage match and make someone bleed with it. You'll be greatly disappointed and in quite a bit of pain when it's all over with. People need to learn the difference between a martial ART, versus something more simple and direct like a fighting or self-defense discipline.
Quick addition... if all you want is to be able to fight well and protect yourself, it's best to keep it simple. There's a reason few good MMA fighters do anything flashy, with the rare exception of people who are exceedingly skilled at a particular technique or like to use stuff with flare as a distraction. It isn't practical. Basic punches/kicks to vulnerable parts of the body, a couple of simple throws, and decent grappling defense and offense is what you should focus on. Doing fun stuff like this will make your movement more versatile and help you with speed and agility, but it won't actually help you in a fight beyond that.
Flexibility looks like a big part of many of the routines that you share, and Andy in particular has very crisp motion and very straight legs in most of his tricks. What exercises do you suggest for getting to that point? I'd appreciate it if you can give me an answer or point me in the right direction :) Thanks for the videos and keep it up!
the only thing i learned trying to do the flip that flexibility the foremost important here if you do not have the flexibility you are going to be injured.
How do you gain that swinging speed with your legs? Like when demonstrating the one hand cartwgeel I see you slowing down to demonstrate it for us but in the end you speed it up again. Like what are drills to have fast leg swings?
A21 A21 it came from the 540 cresent kick, taekwondo and all other eastern martial arts originated from chinese kung fu. So it doesent matter if it comes from taekwondo, karate or any other art, its still kung fu...
HOW DARE YOU SUGGEST TURNING DOWN THIS MAJESTIC MUSIC!? Nah just kidding, I'm just stoked cuz I actually know this song and I was just listening to it last night, no joke. Respect.
My falter said I'm no good, because my limits are limited, but I've trained myself in MAs on my own, tried to find teachers, and still, my dad doesn't encourage me much, total bummer
its looks beautifull , but i dont know- how and when kan do this in a fight ? if this not go , its ok and no problem. than its good for power and fun. And realy beautifull movement

I believe it's the 2nd or 3rd track from the Tai Chi Master soundtrack. The track is called 成長 or 'Growing Up'

the step with one leg might actually be very helpful, thanks. the music is a little too loud while you were talking. otherwise good video as usual :D

what martial art do you practice?
Jake Hoot they practice a style of Kung fu, I believe
Make a video on backflip
how flexible do you have to be to do this move?
I would say flexibility makes the move easier but it isn't absolutely necessary
that being said, maybe about flexible enough to do a front kick and round kick to chest or face level.
Awesome! I always dipped my chest but dipping the left shoulder like you guys show makes more sense. I'd love to see a b-twist tutorial in the future.
I Like This Video. Can You Aerial Twist?
its looks beautifull , but i dont know- how and when kan do this in a fight ? if this not go , its ok and no problem. than its good for power and fun. And realy beautifull movement
