Alex Webster is the Geddy Lee of death metal: he's humble, approachable, appreciates his fans and will take the time to talk to them/sign autographs, above all, though, like Geddy Lee, he's the legendary bass player of a legendary band. I'm always psyched for new Cannibal Corpse. Have been since 1996. 🤘😎🤘
Hail @nickfoster9350 for recognizing the legend that is Geddy Lee! And in comparison to Alex Webster. Extreme opposites on the music spectrum, but both incredible bands in their own right.
I've met Alex a thousand times by now. And the reason is he's mostly the only one who takes the time to connect with fans. Always enjoy exchanging a few words with him.
Opened for Cannibal in 93? Alex took the time to talk the realities of musician life with us when we were young upstarts. Never forgot the honesty with which he spoke and his demeanor. Class act
Was lucky and met George Fisher after a show in a bar that was near the venue. The dude was super humble and a big nerd of music and gaming, in a good way. Every story you hear of anyone who runs into these guys is very positive.
Cannibal Corpse are like the AC/DC of death metal lol. Nothing ever really changes, they stick to the same formula but still come up with original, awesome music. Instantly identifiable, too. I personally am a drummer, but I've always been drawn to and been a fan of Alex Webster. He's always been my favorite member of Cannibal.
I had the privilege of meeting and talking with Alex on the CC tour bus around 2001. He is by far the nicest, warmest, most humble musician I've ever met. His kindness was disarming as I was expecting a stern and slightly-morose Death Metal Guy and instead got an intelligent, soft-spoken, engaging conversationalist who treated everyone with dignity and respect. I got to meet Paul and George as well (but not Ringo or John 😢). All of them are class acts. And Cannibal Corpse will forever be legends.
Sasquatch would hit him up for an autograph! I would be waiting in line right behind him, nibbling on some trail mix trying to keep myself from being such a gushing fanboy...lol. Alex Webster is a super cool guy. Iron Maiden and Cannibal Corpse. Yes.
I met Alex one time as he was walking into the Mohawk in Austin, it was a passing meet as he was trying to make his way inside but he was kind enough to stop, shake our hands and wish us a good evening. Class act.
American death Metal,, Is The Heaviest and the most exquisite Bar none Because of Bands like Cannibal Corpse ! We absolutely want that reputation to Continue!! Sopprt the American legacy Death Metal !!!!
Wish all musicians were like him. He is incredibly skilled, but lets it just show through his performance. Also, speaks so articulately and passionately answers questions.
I had a chat and took photos for people with him up near the stage at Brisbane Arena for the kill tour in Australia. Being a big Cannibal Corps fan growing growing up I thought it was a surreal moment. He seemed real happy to be chatting with everyone after the show
I've always found his bass sound and Korn's Fieldy's bass sound to be the most instantly recognizable on a heavy record. Both those tones work so well with super low, massive distortion guitars.
My mother gave me a "Best of Queen" CD in 1996, I was 9, That solidified my love for Rock N Roll... I 2001 at age 14 I went to my 1st show: Ozzfest! Not long after I saw footage of Dimebag, from PanterA play a Gig on T.V, It blew me away! I Bought an Electric Guitar and started learning the ropes... (Lots of Nirvana for starters), here I am, 22 years later.. a Die Hard Metal Fan and Guitarist/Musician...making my own Metal / Death Metal Tracks, recording/Mixing...ECT, now, I just play a lot Heavier and faster.. Cannibal Corpse, Sepultura, Fear Factory, PanterA....for some. I have progressed well.. Rock N Roll will never Die, Long live the 6-string! 🤘🏻
Great to see these dudes still ripping...I remember them in the late 80s when I was dedicated metal head...don't think I'm going into the mosh pits tho.... great presentation
I met Alex and Rob in El Paso in 2014 and hung out at the bus for awhile. Super cool dudes. A lot of times it's cooler to just hang out with the band, rather than listen to the music and see the show. Even though the music rules too.
I’m the same way as Alex. All the music from the 80’s I can remember but the new stuff now I’m aware but not able to retain. Damn being in my mid 50’s. Saw cannibal corpse for the first time in ‘89, been a fan ever since.
AleX is like the Steve Harris of Death Metal. Cannibal Corpse and Iron Maiden are in my short list of greatest metal bands ever. Great music, continuous output, legendary live shows, consistency of " sound" while always sounding like themselves... I could listen to Alex Webster all day.
I would suggest to Alex to jam the latest Obituary album “Dying of Everything”. It has become my favorite of theirs, and I have been into them since 1991. I saw them this past June, and every new song was killer live \m/
The sheer talent and dedication from these guys putting out 16 horror albums for us to enjoy....words can't even describe the amount of respect and appreciation I have for this band. I have never seen them, or any other band live, but I'm a huge fan of their music since I found out about them around Gore Obsessed. May Cannibal Corpse continue on toward metal godhood...
Ive met Alex twice now and both times he couldnt possibly have been more down to earth. Talked to me for over an hour like we had been friends for years. He even remembered me from the first time I met him. An absolute encyclopedia of knowledge and the most fun person to talk to. Words don't do this man justice.
It's crazy to hear him talk about how Cannibal Corpse being 35 years old and how Heavy Metal itself had only been around arguably 25 years at that point and then realizing the first time I met Alex Webster 27 years ago when I was 12 years old. As far as listening to newer bands and retaining their music and knowing the song titles etc. I tend to use Apple Music as well but I download the albums themselves and listen to them start to finish. Especially if I am really digging what I'm hearing I make a point to look at the titles as the album progresses because I discovered I was kind of doing what Alex is describing and zoning out and not really retaining anything. Digital is just different. It was one thing when I would flip through the booklet in a cassette or a CD, now it's not really like that. There is one image, being the cover and then you have to actively seek out information about bands yourself and at the end of the day do you actually care that much as an adult or have that kind of free time? In my case, I'm 39, have a career, kids, all of that. It's a different world then it was when I was in Middle School discovering Death Metal, or Grade School discovering Metal in analog with physical copies with band photos with all their names, song titles, lyrics and thanks lists.
I saw them in 2006 in france, i was drunk af and acting like an idiot and were cocky with the band members after the show... and they act like gentlemen, very kind guys !
My band had the privilege to practice next to corpse in Tampa back in the late 90s early 2000s . Top notch guys from top to bottom!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼. Absolute legends!!

Said this before so many times: Alex comes across as the nicest guy and seems articulate and intelligent. He's also a totally badass bassist
Agreed, agreed, and agreed!

If I could pick a band to hang out with the members, it would definitely be Cannibal Corpse

Man, I camp full-time and was in Oregon this year. I would have lost my mind to have ran into Alex out in the woods.
