This is definitely the best scene in the first movie. And this scene made Optimus my favorite “ were we so different” good job Peter Cullen, there will never be another Optimus prime.
What I have always loved about Optimus is that despite his status as Prime he never saw himself above his fellow Autobots and other races like humans, in this scene it is shown why Optimus is a Prime and a great leader. While his companions tell them not to help humans because of their violent nature, Optimus knows that they are no different than humans, they made mistakes and caused chaos just like humans but he knows that not all humans are violent and cruel. He sees the goodness of the human being and it is what motivates him to fight for humans because as he says "freedom is the right of all sentient beings" and his determination to help humans goes so far that he thought of sacrificing his life so that they would not pay the price of his war against the Decepticons. Simply one of the best leaders and characters in fiction
I wish we still had this kind of Optimus in the later movies. It’s funny and entertaining to joke about how violent, aggressive and brutal he gets. But these moments and speeches feel so inspirational and heartful.
So it could be said of the Decepticons. All sentient beings will have dreams and aspirations, but they can be clouded and corrupted by the harshness of reality, or the wickedness in their hearts. Daring to punish a species is to punish those who are innocent, and Optimus knows that perfectly.
Ironhide is right about humans, but Optimus pointed out that hypocrisy because Cybertron became a wasteland because of a war among Transformers. At least Earth is still in a better situation than Cybertron is.
The CGI in the Bayverse is just soo clean. And this was 2007 and they had to experiment and think out of the box to get this level of quality, they especially achieved the realism by making sure that the vehicles have a very shiny and reflective surface, which they were manually adding on the CGI models of individual parts, + adding grit, dirt and battle damage to the robot models to give them depth and make them appear more real. ROTB couldn't match this level of detail even with the modern technology available in 2020's.
We can thank ilm for that and bay for putting most of the budget in the bots and the cgi/special effects, cause this could’ve turned out to be a mess with cars transforming into bits but they pulled it off beautifully
It was amazing for the time, but like most cgi effects, it gets dated after so many years. If you zoom in on Optimus during his close up at 2:15 some of the more obscure metallic surfaces at some points of his face and neck are lower resolution. And many parts are clipping through each other. The most obvious are the little bars simulating eye lids when he looks down, and a ring shaped part that’s at the right side of his head.
The way he asks "Were we so different?" I'm not a huge fan of the later movies, but I do think they nailed Optimus in this movie. Because the truth is, the Cybertronians aren't much different than humans. He says that because, despite all his good intentions, he is just as responsible for the state of Cybertron as Megatron, at least in his eyes.
Ironhide: "Why are we fighting to protect the humans, they are a violent and primitive race!". Optimus: "Ironhide... how do you think we got ourselves in this mess in the first place, our war with the decepticons literally fucked Cybertron to the point of being inhospitable. Would it be fair for our war to destroy their world as well, a war they had no part in, we already failed to save our people, I don't wanna doom another".
Transformers and Jurassic Park. The first in their franchises to bring mind-blowing visual effects to the big screen. And their sequels, as entertaining as they can be, they can not hold a candle to their predecessors.
When optimus said we're we so different, meaning deceptions and autobots were brutal to each other also so there's no difference between cybertronian and people.

The original algorithm of the Rubik's Cube effect of Transformation: solve the mechanisms of the corners of the D layer of the maglev chassis, put the mechanisms of the corners of the U layer of the maglev chassis in place and then orient them, solve the mechanisms of the three means of the D layer of the maglev chassis, solve the mechanisms of the three means of the U layer of the maglev chassis, solve the mechanisms of the other means of the D and U layers of the maglev chassis, finally solve the mechanisms of the means of the middle layer of the maglev chassis.
The articulated chassis (by the Rubik's Cube effect) of the automobile or aircraft unfolds forming and reassembling the skeleton of the Mecha.
Spare mechanisms: mechanisms mounted on the articulated chassis of the body, fuselage or fairing parts are duplicated, others tripled or more by claytronic cloning of forms of automobile or aircraft mechanisms to complete and form the missing mechanisms mounted on the metal skeleton of the Mecha parts.
Maglev effect (electromagnetic lifting):
Articulated chassis works as electromagnetic elevated rails/busbars that transport the mechanisms by Maglev effect. The electromagnets arranged in the form of an articulated chassis on the lower part of the body, fuselage or fairing lift the slide mechanisms (busbars, monorail, rails or chassis beams) of the automobile or aircraft.
Guide magnets: Electromagnets that operate in pairs, located on each side of the slide, keep the mechanism steady.
Guide rail/busbar: The guide rails/beams are arranged on both sides of the slide.
Chassis: The guide magnets and levitation sisters are the monorail on an articulated chassis placed under the mechanism of the body, fuselage or fairing.
Electromagnetism force: the electromagnets located on each side of the mechanism are attracted to the guide rails/busbar, but the repulsion system (control) ensures that they never touch.
This is the Optimus we should have had for the rest of the Bayverse.
He was
It was the same Prime through the rest of the movies.
He still laid down his life for humanity, even in the 4th and 5th movie.
Optimus Prime had the complete opposite reaction of what Ultron had when looking through the World Wide Web.
*_"Were we so different?"_* This hits differently, after the final episodes of Earthspark season 1.
1:35 what I think of when I say "Children are so cringe".
Good speech.
His voice is so good
Optimus is the best example of how to be a leader to others
Wow! What a HUGE pair of glasses!
We all Need OPTIMUS PRIME
Fr
funny that this line was supposed to be “i’m going to transform into a truck now”
Anyone else notice that Sam's glasses are way to big for Optimus to hold them like that?
I Like When Optimus Said Autobots Roll Out
I like how this scene takes place at the griffith observatory
I Love Transformers
You not love transformers No
Beautiful speech from Optimus prime himself ✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
"Please, let this work" feels so human. A little out of character.
Even though in retrospect I have a lot of issues with these movies (bots like Arcee and Soundwave getting wasted, overly sexulized characters, ect) This line isn't one of them and is straight up badass.
I’ve always thought Prime sounded like a typical robot here 1:00-1:05
Yeah, that line has always stuck out to me. Even how he says "from here" is a little off.
Beings who aren't sentient: 💀
“Were we so different?”
So much said in that line. Too much, arguably, for this film series.
1:48
I'm pretty cynical about the human race, but Optimus makes me see the hope in humanity.
I'd always thought he said "Freedom is the light of all sentient beings" and liked it a little more, given the context.
Is the song at the beginning (Helikopter scene) included in the official soundtrack? Sounds amazing
The best scene
This scene gives me the chills. Optimus prime is the man
Optimus isn't worried about Bumblebee's abduction, he just focuses on the all spark
I would love to see optimus/peter cullen narrated documentary film
Man, that tiny detail that optimus' teeth spins, is something I've only seen in the bayverse
Id vote for him
2:22 Autobots Rollout
I was literally 18 years old in 2007 when this movie first came out
Seriously why do people find it so hard to live by this quote.
It hurts that OP would choose the imperial system over the metric system. 😢
Lord Megatron - The Best Transformer. ❤❤❤
Thanos, Optimus prime... Wisdom 🔥
fweedom is da right of all swentient beings
1:47 the hell it is
The Hoover dam B-roll
i listen this song iremember armageddon
Optimus and the others are all what's left, except Bumblebee
I bought a camero it got repossessed lol..he buys a camsro it becomes bumblebee lpl
Were we so different.....
Does anyone else have issues with the movie digitally on Amazon video? It looks dark and desaturated on all my devices.
Prome already had the Matrix in this scene because you can clearly see it Michael Bay needed to be told to keep continuity.
That was his spark not the matrix
We rollin...lol
Can you put fast and furious 9 clips in 4K please 🙏?
Turn on CC
GIVE ME YOUR FACE.
You didn't betray me, you betrayed yourself!
"I RISE YOU FALL!!"
its kinda not in optimus primes character to just let bee die. without even trying to save him
Is it just me or does the thumbnail feel a bit unrealistic. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the movies and the CGI is amazing. But the thumbnail shot is just a tiny bit unrealistic, only that shot for some reason.
It is the shot at 2:21 just pause it there

Please let this work
