Ironhide asks why they should save the human race, but then Optimus answers with a question of his own, were they so different. The CGI in the Bayverse is just soo clean. And this was 2007 and they had to experiment and think out of the box to get this level of quality, they especially achieved the realism by making sure that the vehicles have a very shiny and reflective surface, which they were manually adding on the CGI models of individual parts, + adding grit, dirt and battle damage to the robot models to give them depth and make them appear more real. ROTB couldn't match this level of detail even with the modern technology available in 2020's.
We can thank ilm for that and bay for putting most of the budget in the bots and the cgi/special effects, cause this could’ve turned out to be a mess with cars transforming into bits but they pulled it off beautifully
Even though in retrospect I have a lot of issues with these movies (bots like Arcee and Soundwave getting wasted, overly sexulized characters, ect) This line isn't one of them and is straight up badass.

In The Later Films...optimus prime's morals & beliefs seemingly went out the window. Some say it has to do with the never ending conflict with The Decepticons which affected Prime's mind. Optimus Prime changing tactics to ruthlessly defeat the Decepticons is understandable, He's freaking sick of them! Sentinel Prime wasn't peacefully surrendering, he was playing victim. Plus! there is no Prison for sentinel, Having him locked up will just allow Sentinel Prime to further plot his revenge when the time is right. Optimus Prime made the right choice executing Sentinel, his injuries were fatal. Which means Sentinel Prime would've died anyway. People are too focused on how ruthless prime kills him enemies. Have we forgotten that The Decepticons went out of thier way to slaughter thousands of innocent lives during their attack on Chicago. Optimus Prime is just doing what is necessary to eliminate the threat, Evan if it doesn't mean ripping out a decepticon spine, punching his fist through a decepticon chest or cutting off a decepticon arms & legs before decapitation.
