Who should have covered "Never Gonna Give You Up"? *you can say "nobody" if you like 😉*
WatchMojoUK Like to see Pomplamoose give it a go!
Nobody
WatchMojoUK My thoughts exactly.
WatchMojoUK An older Rick Astley
@Clean SuperMarioLogan Us Directioners just got through 1000 days without them.
The best cover of all time in my opinion, was when the fairy-god mother sang I Need A Hero in Shrek 2.
I'm a believer from shrek 1 karaoke is blooming amazing
Yes so true no dabate
😊😊😊
@@BigBlackpoolPhill 🤗👍
The best cover I've ever heard is Johnny Cash's version of Hurt.
I still think that Kanye West cover of Bohemian Rhapsody was more terrible
Wait, what?
Should be somewhere on youtube. Execrable.
it was in live concert wich made it worst
Not possible... I now have to hear both.
oh jesus really? thats something i hope i never hear. :O
Bohemian Rhapsody is one of those songs you don’t mess with
I LOVE Shatner`s cover, better than original.
CH7 AFC Exactly, it’s like doing a cover of Whitney Mariah or Celiné ya just don’t do it absolutely nothing will stand up to nor be acceptable to the original just leave well alone.!!
@@marguskiis7711 Forgive me for being ignorant, but who the hell is Shatner?
Unless ur Adam Lambert or Mark Martel
Except Brendon Urie. Obviously not as good as the original, but awesome nevertheless
At least Shatner's version of Bohemian rhapsody is entertaining.
Kanye's is just awful.
Kanye's was also a live one-off, so it doesn't fit the criteria for this list, luckily for him
Honestly the Panic At The Disco version I feel is much worse than Kanye's
@@IamKratosful nah, St least that one stayed true to the original and is actually listenable
Both are awful as heck
You never ever EVER mess with a Queen song.
Lesson: Never ever do a cover of any song by Queen 😑
Mary Noveloso or the Beatles
Laibach "Geburt Einer Nation" is an uncanny masterspiece.
Oh, I don't know about that: ruclips.net/video/u_ZNVHiHXrk/видео.html
There are actually a few pretty good covers of some of their simpler songs. And groups of multiple people (who know what they're doing) seen to be ok at it. P!ATD did a pretty good covers of Bohrap and I've seen a good cover of '39 on YT. Then again, nothing could ever live up to basically any song by Queen (because they're great and I don't know a single human who hates them) but then again that's not a covers job.
let's forgive the guy. i think he was playing karaoke drunk alone at home
In all realness thr original Never Gonna Give You Up is a bomb tune. Cheese but good cheese like a vintage mature cheddar. Rick Astley is a living legends
I love 'Never Gonna Give You Up'. Always did - it's a good song, sung well, and I remember being slightly disappointed that a big voice like that came from a skinny white bloke. Before I saw him, I pictured him looking like the great Luther Vandross. How wrong I was!
I liked Never Gonna Give You Up. It's harmless and enjoyable.
Though I think Together Forever is better.
So is Ashley
hey hey hey. rick aint no a legend, hes a god. hes the funniest guy and his new songs on his 50 album are fucking bops too
It's one of those tunes of the 80s and will last forever!
Bill Shatner's Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the funniest things I've ever heard, and I genuinely can't hate it just because it's so damn hilarious. Kanye West's on the other hand has no redeeming factors.
I just listened to it and it was the worst musical thing I have heard to my knowledge.
The Jonin Cactuar I agree he’s clearly doing it for a bit of fun and it shouldn’t be taken seriously
Shatner's version of BR is both excruciating (those poor sound engineers!!) and hilarious. I was laughing so hard I had tears running down my face.
I thought it would be his version of "Rocket Man," but indeed, the "Bohemian Rhapsody" is an even bigger abomination.
A Berlin Newspaper once called Kanye West's performance "Bohemain Blasphemy"
Can't people just leave classics alone and not put there modern shit on it.
I love 💩 on everything
Adrian Preston i really hate to say it but sadly no its like movies, leave it alone for years then someone will pick it up, and put modern crap in it
Yes!!! Thank you!!
Just like Never Gonna Give You Up. I fkn love it ngl
Beatles and Elvis both made many covers from older songs that ended up being better than the originals so dont act like your favorite band/singers dont do it because they do a lot
Yes, leave Rick Astley's "Never Going to Give You Up" alone. I Love it just the way it is!👍
Yes ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@laurenpayne3822 you’ve been Rick Rolled!!
The Beatles and Queen are the two bands where you can’t remaster their songs.
The worst thing about the George Michael cover is that if he’d sang it properly it would’ve been absolutely beautiful
Why they figured they had to autotune the living shit out of George Michael I have no idea.. That song is the epitome of overproduction.
Charlotte Rae it was beautiful thats is how he sang he was not 24 anymore his voice had survived Pneumonia and a tracheotomy I think h did a pretty damn good job he made it haunting and personal to him
@@scottdaniels8129 Faith was released 1987. Autotune, created by Apple in collaboration with Antares was released 1997. Apart from that little fact I totally agree.
@@jsaldert they were talking about the new order cover
It sucks But it's still better than New Order's version.
That moment when Ashley Tisdale Rick Rolled an entire generation of tweens
She Rick rolled herself
That song makes me happy I'm socially aquard.
@@Prototale1487 *awkward
I'm a grown ass man, but Marlyin Manson scares me
Lol I enjoy his stuff
Watch him doing interviews. He becomes much less terrifying lol
he's actually a pretty nice guy.
i mean he’s terrifying
He never should've messed with Sweet Dreams
I remember someone raving about KORN's cover of "Another Brick In The Wall" thinking it was the original... I nearly cried!
I personally would have punched them
That idiot must've had a bad taste, because nothing is as bad as KORN's cover
@@WonHakWoon umm comfortably numb the scissors sisters?
I thought nothing could beat "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" by Brittney spears, until I heard Shatner sang Bohemian Rhapsody. That was all I needed to hear
Devo did an excellent cover of the song tho.
At least with William Shatner, it's not meant to be taken seriously.
Panic at the disco is probably the only band that serve Bohemian Rhapsody justice. Plus Adam Lambert who is currently touring with the remaining members of Queen.
The Muppets did an awesome version.
It's so crazy to encounter someone who actually enjoys Lambert in queen cuz so many queen fan circles and rock fan circles in general that I've seen online? They always go on and on about how he's "trying to replace Freddie" even though he's never set out to do that lol
Puscifer's cover isn't terrible, a little weird though.
@@fortunamajor7239 I read in an interview that he did that he never wants to replace him or imitate him. He also said that he felt intimated, but never wants to change how the tracks sound.
I dont know about that. Rockapella did a fantastic cover of Bohemian Rhapsody.
Unironically, Paris Hilton's singing is the best thing about her.
Her DJ career is better.
commatoes stars are blinda is pretty good actually ps j i love paris she does everything at least she doesn’t like to be just spending her daddy’s fortune
You being sarcastic
She really is a great DJ, it's super weird to think about.
That’s a stretch
I might get banned from this channel for saying this, but when it comes to "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy," both versions are crap. One just stinks worse than the other.
Stewart was very anti-disco. But his record company convinced them they HAD to do a disco song. You can tell in their video they thought it was all crap. But after the money started rolling in then all bets were off. Stewart also said some bad things about various crooners. Yet that's what he's become. He's very much a hypocrite who took the money and ran. (Much like Genesis who actually admitted doing the same.)
I'd defend you. It was an awful song that Stewart didn't even want to do. Disco did that to a lot of people, unfortunately.
But come on BS hav the better body !
I feel the same way bout “Lucy in the Sky w/Diamonds”. It’s a dumb song that’s never been worth covering. Comes as no surprise that the newer version sux rox.
I agree
Lucy in the sky isn’t about diamonds. It’s literally about a drawing John Lennon’s kid made
Rule one of covering the Beatles: Never cover the Beatles
unless you are elton john
@@KeeperOfPoops I agree
@@KeeperOfPoops or Joe Cocker.
Haha see oasis covering the Beatles class
Sidney Price that’s the same rule with covering Queen
Moral of the story: Don't touch the classics. Ever.
But how else will young Ex-Disney starlets prove their musical street cred unless they take an iconic song and pour a shit tonne of saccharine on it?
Before a few days ago I thought Johnny Cash wrote Hurt, he did not, I think it was Nine Inch Nails, I'm not sure though.
+Isaiah Albers
It was NIN and it is from the 90's. There are a bunch of Top Ten songs you didn't know were covers lists. Watch Mojo has done a few and Hurt is included in a few of them.
@@tiacho2893 That is how I found out, it also doesn't really help that to me any way I listen to lesser known artists, like Acceptance, MAE, Project 86, Red, Wolves at the Gate, to name a few. I don't really listen to old music, the oldest is Queen.
In most cases yes.. But on the other hand there are covers that have been done right.
I Will Always Love You. Original artist AND writer Dolly Parton.
Whitney Houston did a fantastic job!
In fairness, Shatner's music career is one with his tongue firmly placed in his cheek and is a bit of an exercise in trolling, just because he can lol. Like one of his albums (an actually decent one if you give it a chance) is called Has Been...haha.
I take personal offence to the Jonas Brothers version of Year 3000.
Clara I-M nope sksks I will always prefer and love the jonas Brothers, not that I don’t like the original version it’s just ya know I prefer their vocals
Thank God someone agrees
I hate that they ruined that amazing song
Busted was amazing
All true Busted fans do, honey.
Medieaval Beabe Busted and Jonas brothers are both terrible.
Definitely agree
William Shatner could be the whole list.
"It's music Jim, but not as we know it" just killed me.
Rule one: no one ever covers Bohemian Rhapsody
michael fisher Rule two: NO 👏 ONE 👏 EVER 👏 COVERS 👏 BOHEMIAN 👏 RHAPSODY!
michael fisher There are loads of choirs who've covered it(and have videos on RUclips), some of which are really good - just not released as singles.
+Johnny Calvino or Opera singers.
Disagree. The Muppets and Bad News both did great comedy versions.
True. The Muppets did an amazing job. Also Johnny Fiama and Sal the monkey, also from the Muppets, did a great parody of "Bohemian Rhapsody" once.
I kinda wish I wouldn't have seen this, I really wouldnt need to be aware of these horrible covers
Seems like the perpetrators are desperate to make terrible recordings to make good on a bet that people are generally stupid and will pay for total crap.
#SorryNotSorryButActuallyGenuinelySorry
"And when the duo hit the high notes they sound like they've been sucking on helium. Alvin and the chipmunks could tackle this with more dignity." Savage! 😂😂😂
Had to laugh - I saw "Cover of Faith by Limp Biskit" and immediately thought "Cover of True Faith by George Michael needs to be in here" - Next cover was...
OMG that Shattner cover was tragic!! I'd never heard of it and now I wish I hadn't heard it.
I know.. I like his acting but singing.
Just
NO
The less said about Nimoy's Ballad of Bilbo Baggins, the better.
Now I'm gonna have to listen to Beatles' Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds 1000 times before I forget that horrible, horrible cover. I think there's no amount of soap and water that would wash away these awfulness. 😢
Saaammeeee
When I think of " How Soon Is Now " , I cannot think of anything else but " CHARMED " .
Omg samme gurll spread that halliwell love ♡♡
It was also used in The Craft movie. Story is about... witches. Surprise! :D
How sad
It was on from The Craft soundtrack first
I love older bands/artist especially ones like the Who and the Beatles, so for someone to make such a horrible pop version of a brilliant song disgusts me.🤢
Timezy - same here someone makes a disgusting pop version of a beautiful song, I'll instantly get disgusted
All I want for Christmas is a copy of William Shatner’s album ;)
You know who actually was good a covering bohemian rhapsody.....
Brendon Urie
Yeemø Katherine agreed
no it wasn't you fucking fake emo kid
Nope. Brendon Urie is a good singer, if he would just be himself. He wants to be a mix of Patrick Stump and the guy from The Killers so bad and everything he’s put out since that one guy left the band and stopped writing the songs for him, everything he does is so transparent and bad. And again, he can be a good singer, but he’s nothing super special and I really hate how people think he’s this amazing performer 🙄
God• Is• Seven thanks :)
Sydney Kohai ok whatever u say 👌🏼
At least William Shatner makes me laugh.
#1 is Shatner. Why...am...I notsurprised?
They should've given a shoutout to Kanye West's equally crappy version of the song too XD
The others were salvageable, but. William Shatner. That was truly terrible.
Ashley Tisdales album cover looks like they said, “ok, can you smile like the cameraman just farted? Ok great, that’s perfect.”
I didn't think George could ruin a song...Plot twist.
Neither did I. But clearly we were both wrong. Who knew?
If he had sung it naturally and not had so much auto tune it would have been amazing 😖
Who ever engineered the song ruined it. George could easily have sang that
It was for comic relief it was a joke
He did ruin that New Order song, he ruined it by that awful autotune
Was William Shatner drunk when he covered Bohemian Rhapsody?
He also did a cover of various "Major Tom" songs, like by David Bowie and Peter Schilling. Both are horrible.
Well, he was awake when he did it, so - yes, probably.
No, he has sense of humour, unlike you.
Am I high or did Captain Kirk cover actually Queen?
Holy Jesus........I need to wash my ears
True.
Same
Same
Not gonna lie, I really like Tatu’s Version. 😬
Yes, I definitely agree with your picks. I didn’t know Rick Astley was British, though.
Really!?!
Rick is most definitely British 🤣
We are currently living in an era of people ripping off legendary songs.
Musicians have been covering each other's songs for years, it's nothing new. it's just unfortunate there a lot shit covers.
Master Splinter-There are no new ideas anymore! Notice the movies, music, and TV shows over the past 10 years! Copying everything that’s been done already! Just STOP!!!!
We've always lived in the era of people ripping off legendary songs.
Nothing wrong with covering songs. If you don't like it then you should be telling all the people listening to it to stop. For example, the band Bad Wolves has plenty of great songs on their new album but people are only listening to their Zombie cover for the most part.
[Master Splinter] "Sadly we are truly living in an era where people make worse covers or original songs".
All these artists gave their permission for their songs to be covered that's the sad thing.
It depends on who owns the rights. I think MJ owned the rights to the Beatles back catalog and allowed them to be in used in commercials.
Yeah, except that's how Nike/Michael Jackson got in trouble. They used The Beatle's Revolution in a commercial and had to pull it off air. While MJ had the rights to the song, he didn't have rights to the actual Beatle's recording of the song.
They didn't, their record labels did.
Pink floyd did mot gove korn permisson to cover another brick in the wall
You don't need permission for a cover version from anyone.
Korn is not as good as the original OBVIOUSLY but I think is good enough I mean I personally liked it. William S. should stick to intergalactic travel.
I find it better
Korn should have left it alone you should never cover pink floyd
@@hardingryan42 sorry but that's bullshit.
Nope it is quite correct
Montserrat Elechiguerra Chávez I agree, I feel like the narrator is very anti-rock/ alternate :/
everytime i hear this guys voice i feel he's gonna introduce art attack
Never heard the William Shatner version. Now I'm glad I didn't. Wow he ruined it!
I made it to 10:11 and instantly stopped the vid. Any cover of Queen is mostly garbage, but I couldn't stand to try hearing Shatner's attempt.
and he did it better than Kanye West live concert bohemian rhapsody cover 👀
It is ok, you gave them the view
11:00 Still better than Kanye’s cover...
I went into this thinking it wouldn't be so bad... I was WRONG!
I agree 😂🤣😂🤣😂
The witty comments by WatchMojoUK on the terrible covers make this video so entertaining.
Britney Spears covering I love rock n roll made my ears bleed how can anyone compare to Joan
9:05 "i can't get no..."
"happiness?"
"NO!"
"satisfaction?"
"...Yes."
Jen Brooks I love when I get the reference
Faith is a song that just never has to be touched George Michael is an artist who’s songs can never be redone just no
Speaking of LSD, this lot must have been on some when they thought it would be a good idea to cover these classics!
Its not good, but I think Elton John's version was even worse.
😂
Nah, just their own inflamed egos!!
When you got to number one and I saw what the cover was, I was legitimately excited. There is no way it wasn't going to be a beautiful, boated disaster. I got what I came for and my life is better now I know this exists.
RUclips crashed at the limp bizkit one, so I'm gonna take that as my phone saving me from death
It really did save you
LMAO @ William Shatner's. That really took me by a surprise. I even didn't know he had song for real. 😂
William Shatner is as good as singing as an elephant is at thermo nuclear science
Freddie would be turning in his grave listening to that version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Jesus that was funny to listen to!
I still stand that T.a.t.u's cover is amazing 👏
I just finished watching the video and I can’t remember what they covered. That’s how unimpressive it was 😂😂
@@spongebobsjellyfish lol
I’ll admit I didn’t hate it

Are you insane? MM's Sweet dreams is amazing!
I love t.a.t.u though
ljubovv tatu For life!
I liked the cover
I like this cover in both English and Russian.
I'm with you guys on this, I liked it when it came out
I love Tatu.. I didn’t realise anyone else did lol... x
OK, you're not great fans of metal, but keep in mind that some people are.
I haven't heard Ashley Tisdale's version of "Never gonna give you up", but from what I could gather from the segment included in this video, it doesn't sound very different from Rick Astley's original.
I agree with your opinion of t.A.T.u's version of "How soon is now?" - they really do sound like chipmunks.
As a heterosexual male, I can't get mad at Britney for flaunting what she's got, but i will admit that "(I can't get no) satisfaction" is not my favourite song from "Oops! I did it again". I'm more partial to "Stronger".
Silly, chipmunks, not that mood ok. But still not in top 3 for worst. All covers was far worse especially LB.
In all fairness to William Shatner, his version of Bohemian Rhapsody was meant to be comical, not serious.
Shatner just sounds so high
This list is gonna piss off a lot of metalheads.
Scott Foster your right haha
I guess metal turns music into shit
I'm a metal-head, but JESUS, most metal covers are atrocious, excepting Disturbeds' sound of silence, which in my opinion is the best cover song ever.
Is William Shatner being serious, though? It sounds like a parody.
Yo Mansons Sweet Dreams cover is lit!
No it's not, it's creepy.
@@oldmusic123 Marilyn Manson whole career is creepy, but that doesn't mean this cover is not good.

Yep, the number one was more than I could ever expect...
William Shatner covered Bohemian Rhapsody? Really?
I actually liked George Michael's "True Faith"
I would've liked it if he didn't add the autotune
True faith by George Michael is amazing
I couldn’t stop laughing at the way William shatner sings
I DJ online and I occasionally play Shatner - Bohemian Rhapsody as a gag. Hilarity always follows. LOL
Absolutely disgraceful. There are no more original thoughts available.
To be fair shatner is pure parady,,,,,
After hearing all the clips but most importantly William Shitner at the end... yes i absolutely agree with your choice of song. Omg
Limp Bizkit's version of "Faith" is actually one of my favorite LP tracks ahahah
Bohemian Rhapsody by William Shatner: Freddie Mercury is rolling in his grave right now...
No1 was a joke. It should have been Gary jules's "mad world" cover. It kills the point and essence of the tears for fears original and the cover just makes the song overly depressing intstead of the isolated observation feeling of the original
Yep that was shit
About half of these were really good.
Painful to watch! x
I’m obsessed with Pink Floyd but Korn’s cover was awesome.
Marilyn Manson’s Sweet Dreams was good and less boring than Eurythmics’ version.
I loved the Marilyn Manson cover of “Sweet Dreams”.
Most ppl did, not sure why it's on here?
This guys voice sounds in his 30s but his opinions are in his 70s.... 'ooooo that racket in the background'. ffs
'Sweet Dreams' was a bit shit, but his cover of Depeche Mode's 'Personal Jesus' was pretty good.
Same
I loved it, I felt Manson's Version fit the grittieness of the theme
I love the Limp Bizkit cover of Faith best version ever
Obviously you can’t beat The Smiths’ version of How Soon Is Now, but I actually don’t mind t.A.T.u’s version
Yeah same. I also don't get when the argument is made that the cover is far from the original. I feel like that is kind of the point of a cover. Otherwise you would just make the same song again.
Don't quit your day job, Captain Kirk!
I think the only reason Paris got to cover Da Ya Think I’m Sexy, is because she’s friends with Rod Stewart’s daughter Kimberly.
listening to Shatner’s cover of BR made my intestines throttle my brain!!
Scissor sisters comfortably numb is worse than most of those listed
I hadn't heard of this but just reading that is so tragic 😂😂😂
@@Joe-hi1zw Do yourself a huge favour and give it a miss. It's horrible Europop trash, sung at high speed in a ridiculous falsetto. And they even leave out the incredible guitar solo as well. As awful covers go, I'm staggered it didn't make the cut for this list.
i thought covering the beatles is considered a federal offence
We don't do federal in Britain
Covering Queen is worse
hey I love t.A.T.u.'s version of "How Soon Is Now?"
Limp Bizkit covering Faith is one of my top 100 tracks. As is sweet dreams by Manson. I think this list is pretty correct other than those.
I'd swap one out for Mike Flowers doing Wonder wall and the terrible cover of my perogative by spears
I had actually never heard of any of these covers until I saw this. Oh man, they're terrible.
