The voiceover at the end of this game is priceless. "You can reTIIIIRE to a lifetime of FREEVOLITY! Hurrhurrhurr!" I'll be sure to do that, giant demon goat head!
This version of Doom for the Playstation came before Final Doom for the Playstation, so it should be the other way around (or to be more accurate, Command Control had the music track first).
been playing this since i was a year old jumping around like a crack head in diapers smiling and laughing at killing the demons, while my parents didn't because the music, sounds, and monster placement, scared the sh*t out of them. best game
I instaled a weird version of ultimate doom that included 7 episodes instead of 4 -kneep deep in the dead -shores to hell -inferno -thy flesh consumed -visions of eternity -city of corpses -director's cut The final one has the PSX LEVELS
There are numerous significant differences between 90's era Doom and Final Doom on playstation 1 and PC which can be distinguished, but i particulary want to point out the fullscreen automap on the playstation version when you're viewing it shows every door in an identical colour thereby tremendously increasing the difficulty contained within Doom even more, these levels are lybrinthine maze-like as fuck, whereas on the PC version of Doom 1, Doom 2: Hell on Earth and Final Doom the automap indicates doors by their colour, you'll see a small red line when viewing the fullscreen automap representing a red door, blue representing a blue door and yellow representing a yellow door to gain access after obtaining a colour keycard or skull-shaped key device. Therefore i say the playstation 1 version of Doom and Final Doom is immensely challenging in it's difficulty. From my perspective i've always known PC games are superior compared to video game home consoles, in fact not even playstation 5 would therewith possess the capability to compete with a powerful gaming desktop pc or gaming laptop pc, but all that aside i do derive enjoyment from playing Doom and final Doom on playstation 1 version thanks to it's creepy eerie dark cold atmosphere which is exuded as the player traverse passageways due to lack of music which was replaced with ambient background music rather than wavetable/MIDI generated audio. Even though Doom is a damn brilliant challenging game with intricate labyrinth levels consisting of immense convolution it remains entertaining and enjoyable to me. The various demonic enemies and additional satanic symbols contained therein makes Doom entirely full of wondrous glorious magnificence in all it's totality. Due to graphical limitations on video game consoles there's always going to be plenty of things missing, therefore i say PC games remain superior, however you need a powerful potent gaming desktop pc or gaming laptop pc to run such pc games without lag. Doom is originally a pc game but the playstaion port is fantastic although for example in Final Doom on playstaion 1 there's a few demonic ememies missing, Arch-vile has totally been ommitted, the Spider Mastermind, Mancubis and Baron of Hell only appear in one map each. Besides all that both Doom and Final Doom on playstation 1 provides plenty of challenging levels and is a fun, frighteningly terrifyingly infernal diablolical atmospheric devilish game full of tough difficulty.
@tbone2004 Because icon of sin's spawn cubes caused problems for the Ps1. And it was too much work to make IT work, it apparently had really bad frame rates too. They took out Archviles because of engine modifications apprently
I know I'm a whopping 15 years late, but they were not included due to technical limitations involving their ability to re-animate the dead and the way their fire spell works. The Icon of Sin Final Boss was also not included due to problems with its Monster Spawning capabilities.
@@pandaumk3 To answer the question, but they were not included due to technical limitations involving their ability to re-animate the dead and the way their fire spell works.
It's possible but harder on the PC version (some map "error" means some of the BFG tracers might pass through without hitting), and you have to be really close. Spider Masterminds can also infight, you could probably touch one to wake it up, then lead it to the other one.
Well, sorry, but I'm honestly angry with people who ask questions even though the answers are clearly in the description or in the video's friggin title (!!!). They're as annoying as those rampant chain letters.
Such a terrible map :( I remember when I got to this level I was so excited because I loved Icon Of Sin on PC. When I saw it was called "redemption denied" I was like "uhhh wtf is this" but then I saw that the first room you are in is identical to IOS and I was like HELL YEAH HERE WE GO! and then I went through the teleporter... and was crushed at what I saw :( no Icon Of Sin. Such an anticlimatic ending :(
The voiceover at the end of this game is priceless.
"You can reTIIIIRE to a lifetime of FREEVOLITY! Hurrhurrhurr!"
I'll be sure to do that, giant demon goat head!
That's not the one speaking.
Fun fact: The demonic voice is done by Aubrey Hodges, the music composer and sound designer for Final Doom, the PSX port and even Doom 64.
I love how everyone's all like "where dafuq is Arch Vile" and i'm over here like "why do you WANT that in the game?! It's a nusiance"
shut up obese
I used to refer to this version of Doom as "Scary Doom".
This version of Doom for the Playstation came before Final Doom for the Playstation, so it should be the other way around (or to be more accurate, Command Control had the music track first).
My favorite Doom port.
I still play it on my old PS2 and CRT TV.
This was the best console port of Doom to be made back in the day. :)
The Spider Mastermind's wake up sound is the same as its death sound :)
Barons Of Hell are my favourite enemies...that noise when they see you is epic!
Yo your comment is 11 yrs old btw are you still alive
I did a "re-make" of this level for June 6th 2006, only with various cyberdemon variants instead, and more detailed. I ought to go and re-play it.
do you still have it? id love to try it out
@@METH_TILL_DEATH It's on /idgames/, it's called 666hell and is for EDGE
I love their sound, and their look is just freakin' brilliant.

@@adeemshah1507 Old comments!
I have said it before and I will say it again, this hero can take one hell of a battering.
doom of ps1 is the real doom atmosphere
Retire to a lifetime of frivolity???? Yeah right 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 love that ending it cracks me up every time 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
2:08 most cheesy voice acting ever?
+Llewellen Higginson-Ford (PainlessPentagram) The voice actor sounds so sexually pleasured, I don't blame him.
Kinda reminds me of Calypso's voice in the original Twisted Metal's lost ending cutscenes.

Same sounds as doom 64

That would be the DOOM Anthology from Pirate Bay I believe.
No sigil?

Such a dark and evil game, lovely!
this was also on the Saturn version.
So... I beat this level today, and I was wondering:
How exactly do I leave this part of the game (without having to reset my system)?
Thanks!
Baron Of Hell (Hauser) are my favorite.
The Archvile was on the game, but it's sprites were replaced by a bloody hook.
@tbone2004 Because icon of sin's spawn cubes caused problems for the Ps1.

@plok1337 how fuckin sick is the doom marine death scream? all the PSX doom sounds are better, including music.
Kinda funny how the real final boss Is telling you congratulations
@plok1337 I agree It was so great!! with the different sounds and the best soundtrack a game like doom could offer!
That's the way Doom should sound.😊
Those are the endings to the 4 separate episodes of the original DooM on the PC.
About the head... that's DooM II. It's an easter egg.
Where's the archvile?
REDEMPTION DENIED!!!
Guess again... Half Life said otherwise.
lol this level has the psx system control level music from Final Doom
we called cacodemon "mansikkahirviö" witch means Strawberrymonster cuz' they looked like strawberries
archville?
i really wouldn't know as i've never played this version
Funny how many others relate it to a Tomato as well. Actually, I saw a photomanipulated Strawberry on DeviantArt that was given Cacodemon features.

HMMMMMM I DMELL DOOOOOOOODOSPSOSPPAPLLALALALLALAAL
what happened to Arch-Vile in the psx version?
I know I'm a whopping 15 years late, but they were not included due to technical limitations involving their ability to re-animate the dead and the way their fire spell works. The Icon of Sin Final Boss was also not included due to problems with its Monster Spawning capabilities.
Im sure because the psx couldnt handle that type of thing at the time.
Spider mastermind died in one bfg shot, wut?
The BFG is a weird weapon and its effects are kind of random.
EndlessFunctionality If you point blank the Mastermind, you can kill it with one hit.
The sequel to doom 2
The Barons of Hell, Archviles and Cyberdemons are the worst
* Like *
This isnt ONE of the best games ever, its THE BEST ITSELF
blee no archvile wtf?
good ending, good game
but where is the Archivile?????
After 12 yrs did you find archivile ??
@@adeemshah1507 lol nah

arch-vile=26 frames of animation -_- hardware psx= boom!!!!!!!!!!
AAH! 4:05
it's a custom edition
The OG Spider Mastermind is the most pathetic boss in history. They could've at least given it a secondary BFG attack.
@BadBoiDaz08Wolves no
icon of sin is better harder and is the best but this vertion is so-so :-)
oh and wtf? how could you defeat the spider mastermind with one bfg shot! he's weaker then i thought then

i think pc ver is better but in psx monsters sound super scary
nah SNES is best port
@plok1337 doom 64
