      Beste Gijs! M.A.W.

Snel is bekend ;-). Fijne zaak.

    Great review Gijs. I'm driving the X2 myself since October last year (1750 km) and I totally agree with your review. I also remounted the side kick. There's a third bolt in the frame you have to tighten to solve the issue. It worked on my Tesoro. Too bad Cannondale didn't install the Bosch software update on your X2. This would have given you the eMTB modus which replaces the Sport modus. In eMTB modus the support level can vary from 140 - 340%. And even better; since last week the Bosch 2021 software update is available at the dealer for the MY2020 Performance Line CX engine. This update includes a performance upgrade to 85Nm and several new features. Engine support is even smoother while biking. Love the bike!

    You’ve talked me into this bike. I rode one twice on a test drive and I thought it feels silky smooth and now I know it was the seat post. I will probably replace the fork at some point, but it’s a good starting point for me. I also love to 29 inch wheels. The power delivery with silky smooth and pretty much seamless. Beautiful machine.

    I have a Cannondale trail Neo 2 (2019) and had the same problem with the kick stand. The thin screws are woefully inadequate and tend to stretch, and even snap, as in my case. After increasing the size to 6mm, the loosening has completely stopped. The bike shop achieved this for me in about 10 mins.

    Outstanding review. Thanks for the very thorough walk through here.
    I own the X 1 version of the same bike and have encountered the same kick stand rattling as you but discovered a different solution. For me, the 2 bolts into the bracket were NOT the source of the rattle... the problem was the bolt holding the *bracket* in place (found on the underside of the frame). THAT was the bolt that continued to shake loose after a couple of rides. I've added loctite to the bolt now and it's holding better than it was previously. Time will tell if thats a permanent solution.
    Worth checking to see if that solves your problem going forward.

    • @OutdoorguruGearReviews
      @OutdoorguruGearReviews  4 года назад +1

      Hi Wade, Thanks for the comment ;-). Yes that is the solution. Cannondale found out after one of my followers made that comment too. A bit funny that Cannondale didn't know it before but it is an issue on many C-bikes. I don't have the bike anymore: it was a review bike so I gave it back off course. Listening to comments from others: Loctite does the job. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Ciao Ciao, Gijs

    Ik heb deze fiets en ben er erg tevreden mee. Wat echter niet klopt is dat de motor stil is, deze hoor je altijd. Niet dat het storend is want het is een rustgevend zoemend geluid maar het is zeker aanwezig. Dat probleem met de standaard heb ik ook en dat komt omdat het blokje waar je hem aan vast zet een beetje speling in het frame heeft waardoor de standaard vanzelf weer los trilt, heel erg vreemd en ik moet er nog mee terug naar de dealer dus ik weet niet of er een oplossing voor is. Het geluid met remmen bij de voorvork heb ik niet dus dat zal exemplarisch geweest zijn. Voor de rest een hele fijne fiets.

    • @OutdoorguruGearReviews
      @OutdoorguruGearReviews  4 года назад

      Hoi Elvoince, Dank voor je reactie en misschien moet ik dat stil toelichten: ik vind een fiets stil als de geluiden bij de fiets horen en niet storend. Beetje zoemen van de motor en de banden. Met deze banden hoor ik eerder de banden dan de motor en dat is bij andere fietsen waar ik op gereden heb anders. Nu verschilt het geluid natuurlijk ook met omgeving, omgevingsgeluid en wegdek. Ik ervaar de X2 dus als stil en dat is inderdaad een rekbaar discutabel begrip. Ik hoop dat dit het een beetje uitlegt. De standaard.... lees de comment van Cees even. Groetjes, Gijs

    Thank you for the excellent review, Gijs, so very useful in my shortlisting. I live in a forest area with hilly terrain and I would want my ebike to cope offroad as well as holidays and of course a run to the shops. I currently ride an acoustic Specialized Crosstrail, which is road/trail/gravel-orientated and not a MTB, but it can tackle slightly technical terrain, especially now I replaced the tyres with Schwalbe Smart Sams. The Tesoro Neo looks to have very similar geometry and a higher spec SunTour fork, so I think it would be at least as capable.
    However, while I don't wish to scream downhill through the forest on the gnarliest trails, I would appreciate being able to ride with more confidence on rooty and rocky single-track.
    Do you think I could do this on this bike?

      Dear Francis, Thank you for the compliments ;-). Yes, I think it is possible but be aware that you will need to play withy tire pressure to get the comfort higher depending on how bumpy the terrain is. Like you say: it is not a mountainbike. Why not consider a e-mountainbike? Also... the fork might be better than what you have but maybe think about upgrading to the X1 that has an even better fork with air supported suspension. Let me know if you have more questions. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Gijs

      Outdoorguru hi Gijs, thanks for the response. Actually, I have been considering mountain bikes too, but few have mounts for carriers, also I worry about their utility for touring/trekking (and shopping!).
      I have been considering the Cube Stereo 120 Pro Allroad, which is top of my shortlist. It has pretty much all I think that I want, but I have seen reviews criticising Cubes’s quality.

This is for the 2021 model. Take a look here: www.cannondale.com/en/bikes/electric/e-touring/tesoro-neo-x/tesoro-neo-x-1-smu

    Jammer, dat Cannondale de fiets uitrust met het Bosch Purion display. Dit hoort echt niet thuis in deze prijs range fietsen. Ik vind het persoonlijk een waardeloos display, waar geeneens een tijdklok op zit ?

    My X3 has a loose headset and it's very hard to adjust properly. Did you notice this problem? If not, can you advise how to adjust it easily. Thanks.

      Dear Bruce, I know how to do it and you need a very big wrench (36) for this and most people don't have one so I would advice you to contact a dealer. Cheers, Gijs

      @@OutdoorguruGearReviews Thanks Gijs; interesting that the supplier also sent me a headset wrench! Like they knew there's a problem... Anyway I stayed up late last night and finally figured it out: you don't slacken the pinch bolts, because the way it works is that the hexagonal nut under the stem draws the stem down and onto the tapered fork tube, so it has to be tightened onto it. And it turns ANTI clockwise to tighten because it will loosen the pinch bolts if you turn it clockwise. It's very tricky and a poor design, but overall, like you I enjoy riding the bike.

      @@brucewhitehead8583 Bruce, Sweet! I didn't want to tell you that because I don't want to be responsible in case it go's wrong... I am not sure if it is a problem with all the bikes but I find the system quite hopeless. I just fixed a headset on my youngest daughters bike and this is also a good system for manufactures that need speed in the factory and don't want people the fix stuff them selves. It's not that sustainable this way. Enjoy biking! Gijs

    Any idea which of the 2, 3 or 4 Neo bikes is best? I can't find anything about 4 on the at all.

    • @OutdoorguruGearReviews
      @OutdoorguruGearReviews  3 года назад

      Hi Zooumberg, Well on paper the most expensive one is the one with the most hightech components and that would be this one: www.cannondale.com/nl-nl/bikes/electric/e-urban/tesoro-neo-x/tesoro-neo-x-speed?sku=c66101m10sm But... The best bike is the bike that fits budget and purpose. Many people ride bikes that are not matching these two. The 4.... can't find it either. What are you looking for and what is your budget? @@OutdoorguruGearReviews Hi mate. I'm looking at 3000 GBP. I've been ordered to self-isolate due to my asthma and I need to lose the weight I've put on. I'm normally skinny as a rake. But I'm getting fat now. I can't run or swim, so cycling is my next best option. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    I guess it all comes down to someone's definition of trekking. What I see here is an unsuspended proprietary frame that can't be ridden without an under-sized proprietary motor and over-priced small proprietary batteries. Once you buy it you can't turn to anyone else. A drive train that has a 2" swing in chain alignment... not great with mid-drives. A rear rack that isn't going to handle much weight and no front rack whatsoever. Minimal stopping power for a loaded ebike, a silly little side stand, and missing a dynamo hub. Any bike can be used as a "trekking" bike but this is more a commuter than anything used for bike packing or camping bike. It's so easy to build a better ebike than you can buy.
