Hi I'm not sure if this post is still active but he ho , i was lucky enough to get hold of one of his beautiful navette knives and it is perfect, on closer inspection i find it amazing how he had hidden the pin for the back spring the middle pin you see is holding the scales ,i feel very lucky to own this 🍻👍🙏
Stefan, yesterday I took delivery of my first knife from Renaud Aubry, a Navette. The knife is flawless. Thank you for your review, without it, I would not have this beautiful jewel. Jeff.
Thank you for showcasing yet another European artisan's work. I love the sleek and utilitarian designs for everyday use and carry, whether in the pocket or picnic basket.
Many years after you posted this I watched and subsequently placed an order for a custom knife. The website is very good and the configurator is clear and interactive. Really quite reasonable in price. Thank you
As always, the review is outstanding. The videography, historical, cultural, and manufacturing context, and overall attention to detail are all amazing. I'm not even that interested in these particular blades, but I couldn't stop watching. You're a real artist sir.
I've recently discovered your videos and absolutely love and appreciate them. Yet, I must also confess as an addicted collector, you are killing my bank account :) I'm buying everything you review!!! Seriously though, love the historical aspect of your reviews/videos. Its what has always been one of the most compelling aspects of knife collecting for me. David
Cutting fruit and vegetables never looked so good. Looks like I may have more knife shopping to do! Thanks for the detailed review and additional information.
It's good to have you "back in town", Stefan! ;) Thanks for the introduction of these two very nice and elegant folding knives. I doubt I would have heard of them without your video and the photos you've posted on Facebook lately. All the best, Claus
So happy to see a full video from one of the best RUclips reviewers both knives are beautiful and as always your review was awesome take care Stefan hope all is well.
Thanks Stefan, I really appreciate your hard work on these vidios. I will soon find out about Canal Street. Perhaps we will see a review from you sometime. Take care Stefan. Colorado
Great to see another review from you my friend, it has been too long. I do love these simple and elegant designs, the Le Vicomte you showed here is most attractive. Best wishes to you Stefan.
Haven't heard from you in a while sir. I hope things are going well, and you will be making more videos soon. I know these productions you make must take quite a bit of time to produce. Your knife videos are top notch and are amoung the best on you tube. Please know your work is vastly appreciated in the you tube knife community and we look forward to any work you do in the fufure.
I am glad to hear that! Keep up a good work!!! Oh, and even if you forgot how to do videos, fortunately, you made how-to videos to remind you :))) Take care, and thank you - I am not worried anymore.
Good day Stefan, I'd be curious to know how to maintain/care for your knives. I've only got a few in my collection, but I'd like to keep them in good working order. Not to mention, I'd like to keep them looking as nice as they do now! Regards, Casey
Superb video and review as always. Do you know if it is "better" to order this knives with viber liners? In the sense that it is better, more durable, to have liners between the steel and the natural bone/horn material? Thank you and as always kind regards from Amsterdam, JD
LG, Robert
Do you know if Artisan Coutelier is still producing knives? I understand Renaud Aubry passed away a few months ago, but as the website is still operational, I wondered if an associate is continuing production.
Beautiful lines and a very useful blade grind, well deserving of the 'artisan' epithet. As a knife user rather than a collector, I cringe a little when seeing mirror polished blades, and the sharp angle of the closed blade would require some kind of pouch for pocket carrying, but neither of these concerns would put me off buying such a fine example of a cutler's craftsmanship.
Great video, I especially like the Le Vicomte. I do have an unrelated question though. In a previous video in which you reviewed the Moki Serapis, you mentioned that it was only part one of a small three part series about Moki knives. That was four months ago, so are those videos still coming? I know you're busy with a book, and I assume that just eats lots of your time, but I was just curious. Mainly because the videos you make paint a much better picture of a knive than a written review, and any other knife reviewer on youtube for that matter. Keep up the good work.
Is everything okay? I am kind of worried... I mean, you don't have to make videos, but I miss them, and I worry if something has happened... Please, just tell us if you are okay?
Thanks for worrying about me! A year ago I decided to write a book about gentleman's knives. And that's what has kept me busy over the last couple of months. Once the book is finished I will return to making videos - if I can remember how to do them.
Sir,
your outstanding films became classic!
Thank you! By the way, Renaud Aubry passed away a few days ago.
@@StefanSchmalhaus I'm so sorry to hear that. One less artist.

Indeed, you can consider yourself lucky because Renaud Aubry passed away a few years ago.
Beautiful craftsmanship. Thanks for opening a window to the world.

I'm liking French knives more and more! Thanks for showing this so well.

I hope you'll enjoy your Renaud Aubry knife.
Merci monsieur, j'adore votre channel.
Again a very good video, making me discover these two knives from my country. Danke !
Unfortunately, Renaud Aubry passed away a few months ago.
@@StefanSchmalhaus Really sad news ! I hope his heritage and craftmanship will survive him.

Lovely knives. I can see the Navette joining my collection very soon!
Too late! Renaud Aubry passed away a few weeks ago.
@@StefanSchmalhaus oh dear, that’s really sad 😞 Joins Stan Shaw, who also passed a couple of weeks back.
Thank you, Stefan for your expertise, passion and creativity. I think your films are superb.
Thank you for your kind words!
Beautifully done. You've helped make RUclips the 'go-to' place for information and entertainment! and you've added credibility.
Thanks.
Thank you very much for your well-worded compliment! ;-)
Another great video, Stefan! You definitely give these traditionals the treatment they deserve :)

Knives with fileworked backsprings look like good lint/debris catchers, just something else to have maintain and keep clean.
Very nice knives!

No, I don't think the fiber layer affects the stability or durability in any way. It's just personal taste.

how do I order if im paying with American dollars
+butters 460 Doesn't PayPal take care of the currency conversion? I think so.
I see your article on La Navette on Renaud Aubry's website, well done :D www.artisancoutelier.com/en/prestablog.php/prestablog.php?id=48
