@@TheTopNote No I had not, just checked, wow, really was that just that little lamp reflected on a silver bottle? The light and colors looked truly beautiful to me, as in analog film in movies
haha no it was an LED light sticky-taped to a bottle (to get the right height position) 😂 - I did have a ring light and umbrella diffuser in the corner, but I almost always have that even when filming in daylight.
Dear Cherie, thank you for your videos!!!! Your taste is amazing I must confess I blind bought Sunshine and Chanel no. 5 Eau Premiere based merely on your reviews and I LOOOOOVE them!!!!
I totally am digging your list! After watching and thinking which ones I owned I was quite surprised that there were several that I own and love! Samsara I could never be without vintage just because I think the mysore is what makes that particular fragrance. I have recently started using Chanel N°5 eau de cologne which I think is definitely a more unisex version of N° 5 I love it in the spring especially, sadly discontinued although it seems to be plentiful on the secondary. And if one is thinking of true French perfumery you must first and foremost have 24 Faubourg at the top of that list what a beauty in the summer! Really enjoyed this, Thank You! New subscriber and glad of it!
What a great list, Cherie! My two favorites on it are Beloved and Ormond Woman. I would also need my vintage No 19 edp, Coco by Chanel, Hermès Eau des Merveilles, Amber Fetiche, and Mohur Extrait. Perhaps also MFK Gentle Fluidity Gold though I don’t yet own a bottle of it.
Oh thank you! Yes I think we can sometimes get a bit precious about the whole reformulation thing. Sometimes reforms really are quite bad, but most of the ones I love that have been reformulated still smell and wear largely like the versions I might have had previously. Maybe my nose isn't sensitive enough to detect those subtle nuances enough for it to bother me :)
Just subscribed to your channel recently. Love your take on fragrances. My forever perfumes are: Frederic Malle L'eau D'Hiver Guerlain L'Heure Bleue edt Chanel No 5 edt Chanel Les Exclusifs La Pausa Eight & Bob Nuit de Megeve Cannot imagine not having these in my collection. Also just purchased Carner Barcelona Tardes and it's on its way to becoming another big love for me.
Oh what a lovely scent line up ! 🥰 Thank you for sharing! Some of mine are: Amouage interlude woman, Bal d’Afrique, Hummingbird (zoologist), Mon Jasmin noir, Un soir à Paris (Bourjois), Un jardin en Méditerranée (Hermès) and Bond no9 The scent of peace
Bal d’Afrique! Yes I haven’t smelled that in ages! That’s a very interesting list actually, I’m not sure I have ever come across the others- might have to do some investigation! Thanks for sharing 😃🙏
Great video!! Love your selections! And I have the same problem with that Guerlain atomizer , I have Angelique noire. It sprays such a small amount of perfume and also somehow diluted , pity, because I can’t fully enjoy my gorgeous Angelique noire! Hugs 🤗
Great selection, as always. Some of my forever favourites are there - Samsara, 24 Faubourg, Grand Soir etc. Samsara was a gift from a dear friend. The sandalwood was so addictive that I emptied the red bottle at an alarming rate! Thank you for being ressuring about reformulations, although not too keen on the new bottle. Sad, but I'm a sucker for beautiful packaging.
I like to say that I'm not, but in all honesty I have to force myself to try fragrances that don't have the presentation factor but I am slowly training myself to look past the pretty thing - but as Sam from My World of Fragrance would say, it's all part of the experience! I find it hard to ignore. However, I do still like the frosted bee bottles so I'm OK on the Guerlain front for now. haha Thanks for being here :)
Like always, I love your content! My forever list: Gucci ll-discontinued, but I have back ups, and I really really love this fragrance! And of course my Chanels: No 5 Eau premiere, No 5 Parfum, No 19 Edp, Coco Edt, Eau de Cologne and Bois des Iles. Also Versense from Versace, used this when I first met my husband, so that`s why! And I guess I will need to get my nose on Faubourg from Hermes, I think we share a lot of the same preferences in perfume, so thank you again for doing a great job!
Agree! Feve is a great cozy bedtime scent, in fact, that's how I ultimately ended up falling for it, I kept samplign my decant at bedtime in winter! haha
I remember smelling 24 Faubourg once in the Hermès boutique pre-pandemic, but I don't remember what it smells like. Looking forward to sniffing stuff again one day! This is an amazing list of wonderful fragrances.
Some things just happen, just like with Chanel No. 5 EdP 😉. But your video also proves that it’s the scent memories rather than the scents. And make that dream of the future your reality today. Hmm, now I really think about the fragrances I’d pick ... probably something with mint 😂! Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹 to Australia 🇦🇺! Have a lovely weekend!
Hi Cherie, Sunshine smells to me like Madagascar vanilla Creme Brule. Since you are slowly adding to your Amouage collection, similar to Sunshine is Journey with a twist of spice and sophistication. Very classy and the bottle is a stunner, probably the most beautiful out of the whole collection.
Interesting selection and makes me want to try Tonka Imperiale again properly when I get a chance. Not sure I could select any forever perfumes myself at the moment, I know my choices would change after not so long. Keeps it interesting though!

I think you are right. Earlier vintages used Mysore sandalwood (whether alone or in combination with synthetics I don’t know...probably the latter?) I do have a vintage bottle (clear, with gold cap) that is safely tucked away. The red bottle and the bee bottle smell quite similar to me (albeit the bee bottle in this video is the edt not the edp) but the earlier vintage is different (although still recognisable as Samsara). The latter versions I’m not sure if it’s just synthetics or Aussie sandalwood, but they still smell like Samsara and I only think about the differences if I am deliberately comparing them side by side with the vintage bottle.
I purchased a pre owned Samsara with the gold ring on the bottle and the cap - do you know what the difference is and if there is a noticeable difference in the scent?
Hi Betty, I have a bottle of that also. Side by side comparison: yes I do note a difference. The sandalwood is more noticeable to me in the vintage and to steal a term I recently learned from Camille from Making a Stink! I feel the vintage might also be a little more "terpenic", the vanilla is also a bit darker or something. I feel the red bottle the florals are more noticeable, and it has that more modern day lightness and wearability BUT that could also be because the top notes of the vintage are a little toned down with age. HOWEVER, I happily wear the modern versions and I don't feel like they are vastly different. I dunno, maybe my nose is just not as developed as others but I feel like the modern versions are just as enjoyable even with the differences.
@@TheTopNote thank you for all that detail! So just so I’m clear, which is the vintage of two red bottles, one having the gold ring only on the bottle and one having a gold ring on the bottle and on the cap?
