Hi Perfume Guy, I recently discovered that my favorite powdery perfume by Mona di'orio "Ambre" was discontinued 😢 can you direct me to a good alternative? Or maybe to one of your videos with alternatives? Any help would be greatly appreciated ❤ love from The Netherlands 🌷
Love Heliotrope fragrances and agree with L’eau D’Hiver being the number one. It is a note that is very feminine, potent but subdued instead of sexy. I also consider this a clean fragrance. Anyone who wants almond, white musk, or iris dominant fragrances might like heliotrope as well. I had another fragrance which smells like a dominant heliotrope note, Glicine by Acca Kappa. I did not realise it is more of Wisteria.
I never thought that heliotrop could exist in my perfumes, but it turned out that one of my favorite perfumes that I own, contains it- Dans tes bras by FM. Love this perfume! Wish it could have more silage!
hi sebastian, japanese viewer here! thank you for making an awesome helpful video as always! the sumo wrestler from J-scent is inspired by the hair wax that sumo wrestlers use for their hair tied up tightly. There're couple more releases since you made a video featured this brand. Anmitsu is an unique gourmand scent which is inspired by japanese parfait. I enjoy those syruppy mandarin orange opening, going to powdery sweet notes like redbean pastes and Gyuhi(sweet sticky rice cake). Also, there's a japanese niche brand called Perfum Satori which is popular in japanese perfume lovers community. they're not like sillage monsters or something, but quite unique and comfortable in a subtle delicated way. I recommend you to try them if you haven't tried yet!
Tient de Neige is a wonder. How can a frag be both so deceptively simple yet unfathomably complicated? If you took clouds and clouds of baby powder, packed snow, a wonderful assortment of crochet and a luxurious bath, turned it all into a cold yet cozy romantic fragrance... ah so unique and unexpected! “Like This” sounds amazing. I absolutely love Etat Libre de Orange frags but I find they don’t last or carry much. This is a big issue for me across the board though. I need a small mist bottle of my scents to keep them going through the day, or a hair oil, a solid balm in a tin.. but these are rare to find. Lilac Love is one of my favorite scents of all time. I do not find the Lilac to be strong at all! This one is a Helio bomb goodness it’s perfect. Now you’ve got me curious about Malle, Celine, whatever that yellow-green bottle was lol (weirdly I may have a decant of that one.. 🤔 I need to go check now! If so it leans makeupy soapy but in the best possible way!
Happy to see how much praise you have given Tom Ford Rose d'Amalfi since its release. It's truly stunning as I have worn almost half a 50 ml already. Great noses think alike. 😉
My father owns a flower nursery, and I used to love going around smelling all of the different flowers. However, I’ve never gotten my hands on a heliotrope fragrance. Maybe it’s time to pick one up.
Love Heliotrope, Etro's "Heliotrope" has been a long time favorite of mine, surprised you didn't mention it, do you know/have you smelled it? Would be interesting to hear your throughts.
I recently got my nose on Amouage Lilac Love, based on another one of your videos, and it’s really great! I’m not that familiar with heliotrope, but I do really like Lilac Love!
What a great video! Heliotrope is one of my favorite notes. I have to add Parfums de Nicolai Kiss Me Tender Intense. It’s aptly named because it is a very romantic fragrance, but also feels like sunshine in a bottle. And much love for Lilac Love, which would probably be my number one!
Big Lilac Love fan here. So many people are disappointed by that one on blind buy, thinking it’s a true lilac scent. This only makes me love it more, knowing it won’t become common 🙂
Great video! I always get confused between heliotrope and almond. BDK scents are just so ethereal to me, yet they’re not wallflowers. I haven’t found a true love yet, but that quality really has me watching them. I wonder how the Jo Malone cologne intense scents perform. Heliotrope Blanche sounds great! Thanks for the recommendation.
❤LOVE FROM JAPAN HERE! Though I am not Japanese and haven't tried J-Scent yet. Still really want to try and they definitely know what they are doing with fairly acceptable prices.
Thanks for doing these note centric videos - very informative about describing the note and great examples. Always learning something from you and always something unique from your channel - thank you!
I used to be obsessed by heliotrope fragrances and I had 4 bottles from your selection. Nevertheless, I wanted to mention Heliotrope by Etro that I loved very much. Merci !
Would love a list of scents you like to wear when it’s raining outside. I usually go for encre noir a la extreme or gris charnel, but I’m looking for more options as it rains constantly where I live. Just an idea!
Oh I adore heliotrope...It adds so many unique qualities to fragrances from almondy - custardy - sweet to airy - powdery - almost cosmic feeling! I own Psychedelic Love and Teint de Neige as well as many that have the note somewhere in there amongst others...Like, Armani's Si Passione and Jimmy Choo Fever. Thank you for giving us all these wonderful options! I can't wait to check a few more of these out...xox
Heliotrope is a favorite flower of mine, and perfume note. Lilac love is one of my top faves. Going to add the other two you featured in your top three. Thank you!
Nice one! My favourite heliotrope fragrances are Kilian Royal Leather and Roja Turandot, which also has Paulownia, a note that resembles heliotrope in some ways.
Thanks for presenting us with so many perfumes using this note. I’m enjoying a bottle of Heliotrope Blanc by Oriza L. Legrand - another fantastic choice. Will rewatch this now & take notes!❤

I’m really loving the Heliotrope note a lot more since last year🥰It’s crazy how you mentioned getting it confused with the Mimosa note, as I used to get it confused with an almond note(maybe because the only fragrances I’ve used with it were always mixed with almond🤦🏿♀️)..
Reminiscence Heliotrope and Jo Malone Scarlet Poppy are in the same family I find. Scarlet Poppy is play doh marzipan poppies in a field of barley, I love that barley note. The Reminiscence Heliotrope is yummy marzipan and fig jam, I need to get a bottle of that
What a coincidence… I’m wearing Dior Tendre Poison (discontinued), while watching this. It has heliotrope. If you haven’t done lipstick/ makeup accords in perfume, would you consider that as a video? I miss my bottle of “Lipstick On”.
I like Powdery but not as in baby powder, I hate baby powder, hate it!!! I can't identify the note of Heliotrope but in general these fragrances are not my thing, but it's good to know about them, thank you Sebastian!!!
Habanita is an old perfume (created in 1921 prior Shalimar). Originally, it is a fairly tenacious and sustained fragrance, designed to reduce the annoying smell of tobacco. Moreover, its dilution was not the same at the time and Habanita was then sold exclusively in the form of a perfume extract. Women used to impregnate their cigarettes with it before smoking it. This perfume was not offered in perfumery proper until a few years later, in 1924. Moreover, its slogan at the time extolled its merits in this form: Habanita was "the most tenacious perfume in the world".
Thankyou Sebastion for this video of heliotrope. I've been getting drawn in more and more by powdery fragrances. I find them to be quite elegant. I knew that the iris note can be powdery, but did not know that about heliotrope. I am currently a big fan of Reflection Man because of its elegant powdery scent from its iris. I am going to order samples of Ermenegildo Zegna Florentine Iris EDP & EDT because of the powdery rating given by Fragrantica. But i will now keep an eye out for the heliotrope now in my search for powdery frags.
Great smattering of fragrances here Sebastian. I'll be honest, I'm not that familiar with perfumes that feature the note up front. Bit doughy or plasticine-like if I remember correctly. Powdery for sure like you mentioned.
I think Guerlain L'homme ideal Extreme and Joop! Homme (Eau de Parfum) are also quite heavy on the Heliotrope and at least on me it's a very present note with these two.
The only one I know here is Rouge Smoking, which I have in my collection. I can't say this fragrance gives me an idea of what heliotrope smells like. I'd have to try on a few more fragrances with this note to get a good feel for it. There's definitely a few here I'd like to try, including Lilac Love by Amouage and Secrete Datura.
when you said uncut gem is third favorite 😂 I laughed out loud. Not a fan of that one too 🤓I love L’eau D’Hiver, quite special in my collection. And I can wear it to work and feel like I won't offend anyone

Oh I love heliotrope fragrances very much!!! My number one is Dolce Acqua by Profumum but I have tried many of these. I liked Leau d'hiver a lot but I didn't really get powder off it. Tried it when I was going through my iris rampage a year or so ago.

The only one I’m familiar with is FM L’eau D’hiver. It’s really lovely. I contemplated getting it but I ended up going with En Passant. En Passant is such a nice lilac for springtime but I don’t wear it that often because it is a little mature for me.
Have you of an orange Heliotrope scent. I saw it once & now I’m looking everywhere for it. I can’t wear too many fragrances & these are two I can wear. Help! Also what is beviter?

@@ThePerfumeGuy I don’t believe sumo wrestler is a copy of Chanel boy but I do feel it would make a great alternative for someone who likes boy but may not want to pay the huge price tag for the Chanel.

Eek I wasn't aware those two are similar. I have both. Maybe I'll answer in a future Your Fragrance Questions Answered Video.
@@ThePerfumeGuy I don’t believe sumo wrestler is a copy of Chanel boy but I do feel it would make a great alternative for someone who likes boy but may not want to pay the huge price tag for the Chanel.
Sure I’ll dig into it and answer in my next Fragrance Questions Answered video. 😀
Have you tried, Heliotrope Blanc by Oriza L. Legrand
I wanted to feature it in this video but wasn't able to get it but yes have tried it for sure.! :)
Psydelic love
Have you tried Heliotrope Milkbath by Universal Flowering?
I have never. Maybe I should?
@@ThePerfumeGuy it's delicious
Can heliotrope also give a piercing note to some? There is one note I cannot identify and it seem the common factor is heliotrope 🤷🏻♀️
also, you did not include Mandorle from Sora Dora, which is one of my favourites :/
I wasn’t aware Mandorle was Heliotrope focused. I’ll check again.
Ive never smelled heliotrope but we have lots of mimosas here, they have a dusty and sharp yellow flower scent
Armani privee indigo tanzanite

I haven’t sadly. Still selling?
