The video also makes sense because it is a concept album about two characters who crash land on an alien planet, are separated and embark on individual journeys and are essentially forced to look inward to question their own existence and path in life. Pretty neat.
What songs expresses this story about the characters being in peril on an other planet? Even reading through the songlyrics with this in mind I can't see the lyrical connections. I'm struggling to find that specific concept in the lyrics in any of the songs? Theres only one (1) line which to me does and its the line in this song where he says 'on a distant sphere'. Most of the lyrics actually work better if they take place on regular earth as the focus lies fully on the characters feelings of love, self, anxiety, confidence and seperation. That is made clear in the lyrics, but the whole spaceopera part of it seems nonexistent to me. I feel a bit disappointed because imo the concept seems to live mostly inside Dan's head and I don't feel like they managed to really bring the 'concept' part of this album forward. Other than a sonic consistency I didn't even pick up the fact after multiple backtoback listens, that it was a concept album until I saw Dan mention that in an interview yesterday. Just nitpicking as a major concept album fan about how I hoped Dan would pack more of it in the lyrics but I guess he chose a very stylistic and indirect approach, and for that I think the lyrics are a bit too bland and even cheesy sometimes at face value. One of my only gripes with the album so far, imo its tesseract's best since Altered State and possibly my personal favorite of them
@@wavewithus4081 You won't find lyrics about the crash or new planet because it's all a metaphor. War of Being is the battle within ourselves that never ends, in our minds. Between who we are, who we want to be, who we were forced to become... The realm where the war is played out is called The Strangeland in this concept and is a representation of our mind. The characters in the story are splinters of our human mind, the main characters are named Ex and El (two entities symbolizing different human attributes, El symbolizes knowledge, for example, and is guarded by Fear). Ex and El got separated after they lost control over their ship called "The Dream". The ship crashes. Like dreams/hopes can come crashing down in real life, and can instill a sense of fear, forcing you to reflect over yourself (in the Strangeland - your own mind). The labyrinth we've seen in the logo shows the many swindling roads in the human mind. In the middle of the labyrinth is truth, our true self, and knowledge, guarded by fear (the legions of samurais). To get through to our real self we need to tear the mask away, stop lying to ourselves, accept ourselves, collect knowledge (elevate my understanding) and battle our fears (the legions) and find our truth. That's when Ex and El will be reunited and we feel whole again. The Scribe who writes in red ink during one of the videos is Fate, in part controlling our lives. The red/purple little imp is The Grey - the inner child, our innocence, ideas and creativity. When we lose him we become depressed. The song "The Grey" is about that depressed state. It ends with the words "start your war!" Your war of being. This is not easy though, it means facing your fears, accepting them, and accepting who/where you are, which the song "Legion" is about. The many different styles of voices Dan uses throughout the album also represent various emotions and characters in the story, like the character Fear = gritty voice, for example. The mechanical man (lyrics in "Burden") is our "armour" that we built up during our life, all our defence mechanisms, all changes of our real self we've been force to do. It's our Burden, that we carry, and need to get rid of. The last track "Sacrifice" is the release, a move forward, we've battled through a war, we feel empowered, a ray of hope, but at the same time we have to deal with the sacrifices we made along the way, the sorrows, guilts, our past that has shaped us. Conflicting emotions, a part of being human. There is a huge story here, which probably will be presented more in the full game.. There is also an artbook from the story/concept out, by Amos, the bassist. This is only some examples from what I gathered by listening to Dan on the streams on Twitch, reading the synopsis of the game, and playing the demo of the game on Steam.
Also Muse's Matt Bellamy. Dan and Matt are 2 of the best Rock/Metal singers ever outside of say Mike Patton. Stylistically, Matt and Dan are very similar.
Awesome reaction, I also didn't want it to end - every time I listen to it 😅. Mmm I agree about the Sleep Token comment, even though I think they are a great band, I can't listen to vessel or whatever for long, but Dan's voice is butter all the time, so effortless and especially when he does his screams.
Dan Tompkins is like if Matt Bellamy of MUSE was in a Metal band. I'm addicted to listening to this album and their whole discography right now. They're also supreme musicians. Joey Postones is a killer drummer.
it sounds like you guys are recording the audio post eq ... i can tell cuz it's stacking with my eq and makes it sound weird ... if possible please use the original audio in the recording so it's true to the original for people
I will never get tired of people reacting to this song. You guys gotta check out the whole album!
We will be doing this on our Twitch channel this Wednesday night!
Seriously, the lack of reactions to this song makes me crazy.
The title track is just as good. Same with Tender. Heck, the whole album is a masterpiece.
You can also see where Spiritbox has gotten a lot of their influence from.
this song is the exact reason why Tesseract will always be my favourite band

Good to know before we check it out!

So much emotions in Dan's voice there. I get goosebumps everytime! That latest album really got me into them again! Their best work by far imo
Every. Time.
Dan is incredible. He's the British version of Ian Kenny (Karnivool and Birds of Tokyo). Both are incredible at their craft.
I miss Karnivool :(
Also Muse's Matt Bellamy. Dan and Matt are 2 of the best Rock/Metal singers ever outside of say Mike Patton. Stylistically, Matt and Dan are very similar.
Undeniably one of the most important bands in music.
One of my favorite Tesseract songs. Hope you guys have been able to see them live. Such a killer show.

Thanks!

You know a singer is nuts when you pretty much would need 3 singers to replace them in a band. Lol
Dan has a work ethic like Mike Patton.
Yep and the style of Matt Bellamy, but with more of an edge
Where is his sweater from I need to know!!
It was a Shibori Threads limited run.
@@MatandChelsReact awesome thank you!! I’ll keep a look out for more drops!
Tesseract and Sleep Token are the bands that make us think, and dive deep into their music and personas
it sounds like you guys are recording the audio post eq ... i can tell cuz it's stacking with my eq and makes it sound weird ... if possible please use the original audio in the recording so it's true to the original for people
I know it's months gone by but thank you for pointing this out I thought I was going fucking mad lmao.
Vessel DOESN'T make you melt?? 😱 What sorcery is this?
