Only two episodes to go! Episode 7 is scheduled for this Friday, January 31st, and barring any catastrophes, episode 8 will be posted next Wednesday, February 5th! And then comes the long wait for season 2...
Well, there’s two seasons of Severance.. Well, one season and one that’s currently airing. (He says, hintingly) Anyway, I’m always late to these posts, but I need and want to heap mass praise for your reactions. They’re fantastic. Though I should say I enjoy very much your film student viewpoint of them; it reminds and makes me exceedingly nostalgic for my past days in theatre and my own meagre amounts of informal film education and discussing the art of filmmaking and acting in general.
@IlChatNoir17 Vox Machina is on the list! It won't be the next series, but I want to get to it soon-ish. I have several series going at the moment that I need to finish first, though 😅
@joeb918 Thank you so much! Also, I'm DYING to watch Severance. It'll likely be a while before it comes here, but I'm hoping to start it on Patreon soon. I just have to wrap up a few other things first.
It's a real treat to see someone who doesn't know Fallout but is so well educated on how movies are made you can appreciate what they are doing. A lot of non fans don't pick up on all the things you have been because they are so well executed sometimes it's subtle.
And so his downfall begins and the possible realisation that his wife has been playing him for a while. It makes it all the more sadder...after all she is a vault-tec executive. Notice how she pulls away from him when he wants to kiss/hug her.
I love that when the Fallout motif plays (when Lucy stretches out the NCR flag in the classroom), you immediately didn't like it and became unsettled. I've never considered what that piece would sound like to someone who didn't have it ingrained in their gray matter. 😆
I love the games so damn much that, I have to admit, when she unfurled the NCR flag and that music played, I may or may not have gotten a little dust in my eyes.
That was one of like 3-4 times in the series where I jumped up on my couch Scientology style. The season 2 reveal at the end also got one of those, as well as a couple of the Ghoul's uses of the Terrifying Presence perk
SPECIFICALLY the loading screen main theme music for Fallout 3. So epic and the perfect music to set the tone for that game every time I fired it up on my 360. Like Nolan, I lost like a year of my life on that game. I nearly lost my mind when I heard it in the show and so has every reactor I’ve watched that has played FO3.
So, the President is Sorrel Booker, and he wears a white suit, with a white bow tie. Now, in the old TV show, "The Dukes of Hazzard", the man that ran Hazzard County, was a crooked guy named Boss Hogg. He wore a white suit, with a white bow tie. The name of the actor that played Boss was, Sorrell Booke.
Between the sequence Maximus keeps remembering of him coming out of the fridge to the power armour at Shady Sands, and the hot shower question, about 90% of his back story is revealed to us in about 20 seconds of show.
Not only talks about nuclear war, but is a post-nuclear apocalypse setting and about a boy and his dog discovering an underground society living in a bunker (vault) that has culturally stagnated.
It's worth noting that Cooper talks about wanting to retire to Bakersfield. It's ruins are a key location in Fallout 1, and very likely related to Cooper's backstory as a ghoul.
well the guy's goons found Cooper in the middle of the aftermath. It's only logical that they thought he did it, and who is he to not take advantage of everybody's fear of his reputation.
My favorite episode of season one. Between them just letting Walton Goggins absolutely cook and the first use of the Fallout theme music (which gives me chills EVERY SINGLE TIME), what an episode.
I've been a fan of the games since 1997 and know how messed up Vaults can be (the games ALWAYS have disturbing stuff in Vaults). But even I was SHOOK when that woman "gave birth." The next two episodes are going to be fantastic. You are the best reactor I've seen on RUclips.
Jacqui: 'Is "safe" the word we want to use here?' In this world, "safe" and "vault" are not synonyms. You got it perfectly right with "mausoleum". It's usually that.
hey I’m Ryan I have a movie request can you please do the movie Austin powers international man of mystery and if you can please wear leather gloves for the movie
3:37 - Matt Berry. He's also in the series, What We Do In The Shadows (such a funny show). He was also the voice of the med-robot back in episode 2 of this show. 5:15 - yeah! He's the voice. And he didn't get paid much for it, as the dialogue in the previous scene pointed out. 6:42 - Theme from "A Summer Place" by Percy Faith (and his orchestra).
the "creepy ominous drums" when lucy is looking at the NCR flag is the opening stanza from the Fallout 4 theme. most fallout titles use a variation on a theme, and this little scene used the fallout 4 variation.
Very ominous that Coop is talking about a ranch in Bakersfield - of all places - in the tub. See, Bakersfield is a prominent location in the very first Fallout game from 1997. Only, at that time, the former Bakersfield is called Necropolis and is full of ghouls... Extremely curious if they pick up on this in season 2.
Binge watching a series prevents people from forgetting small details. The bringing up that "the future of humanity comes down to one word... management" would immediately raise a red flag if you remembered what was written on the wall of the overseers office in vault 32 when Norm and Chet visit it. "Death to Management"
The overseer was 5th generation, which is about 100-150 years. The vault is 220 years old. It implies his ancestors were outsiders who fell in as test subjects.
The pre war bits from this episode are among my favourite. I love the discussions between Cooper and his fellow actors, so many different kinds of characters.
7:57 And that’s where their whole relationship changed. She went from deferring to him and being awestruck to having more experience and taking control😅 8:27 was feeding him breakfast 😂 bro is COOKED
In Fallout 3, there is a perk you can give your character called Weird Wasteland which will give you encounters that are parodies to movies and such, like seeing the skeleton dressed like Indiana Jones in a fridge like in Indy #4, but it also allows you to describe the NCR flag as Two Bears High-Fiving Also speaking of Fallout 3, the scene at 16:55 Reminds me so much of the Republic of Dave questline.
Filly is also very remeniscint of Megaton, the town at the beginning of fallout 3. Also, in fallout 2 (the best of the series IMO), if you have a high luck attribute you found all sorts of random encounters, including a crashed shuttlecraft from Star trek (complete with dead redshirts), a crashed UFO with a dead alien (that you can get an alien blaster from), the bridge keeper from Monty python and the holy grail, etc.
That creepy score you heard when Lucy unfurls the New California Republic flag is THE CLASSIC Fallout game music, played on the title screens. Gives me goosebumps when it plays.
And in this episode we see Jacqui fall straight into "The Trap". x) 5:52 "We buy teeth" 9:08 Wow, Jacqui! Very judgemental! 14:56 The other woman was called Birdie. Might be just his thing to give people bird names. 16:10 Just so you know, that's the theme song of Fallout 4. The NCR is a major faction in the games along with the Brotherhood of Steel and some others. The NCR is, relatively speaking, seen as the "good guys", contrary to the fascist military dictatorship of the Brotherhood. 16:43 I guess you cut it because you missed it, but on the sign on the entrance it said "THe GoverMiNt". 21:58 And that's how we get gulpers with weird human features.
The Double Headed bear is a staple for the series - it is the symbol of the NCR. Two headed cows (called bramin) are also extremely common in the Wasteland but, haven't really popped up in the series. Good call on the "keep watching" will be looking forward to your reaction/views on the last episodes as you're in for a doozie XD
I had to hold off on starting your Fallout series until I'd watched it (found you via Alien and Firefly, still catching up on the rest). I'm really enjoying your cinematographic take on this series especially, pointing out so many things I didn't see on first watch. Eagerly looking forward to the rest of the series now. (By the way, episode 4 isn't in the actual Fallout playlist on the channel.)
Speaking of whether or not war is profitable reminds me of the 34:th rule of acquisition: War is good for business. Which is easily confused with the 35:th one: Peace is good for business.
This Vault's overseer may just be one of *the* best characters in the season, if only just for how quirky they had him played! ^_^ 2:43 Lovely name! 'Bud A**kiss'! xD 5:00 Fallout has always been so poignantly on the nose with many of their ideas. O_O 10:40 To reiterate a commenter from previous videos, you should peruse the list of *other* 'not good' vaults once done with this show. Some of them are really vanilla and dull kinds of bad, while some where *really* crazy (literally and not). 14:10 Add in some extra mutations from radiation, since they take in Surface Dwellers. Will speed those changes right up! As a fan since Fallout 1, this show just kept getting better with every episode! ^_^ (so don't leave us hangin' for too long!)
I always found it interesting how the Ghoul took responsibility for destroying the Super Duper Mart when speaking with Sorrel Booker. Since it was Lucy who was the one who actually did. perhaps a way of showing some sort of respect or something since she saved his life when she really had no reason to. Or did he take responsibility simply because he didnt see the point in saying it wasnt him, it was this other person who no one has seen? would be interested in watching an interview with the cast about that.
6:50 This Scene! we learn a lot about how the surface world operates (and specifically about the Brotherhoods stance on Sex-ed) and also we learn a lot about our dear Jacqui!
Love this series. The game, is, well, the game is difficult. This series is one of the best shows. I love that we cannot predict what is going to happen next.
16:08 That is the flag of the New California Republic and the music playing is the modern Fallout theme specifically the Fallout 4 version here. It's a big nod to players. 9:09 Sounds like Fallout 1 and 2 music but I'm not sure.
So with you asking people to join your Patreon... isn't that a cult too, Jacqui??? 🙃😉😜 Thanks for sharing! I do like spending the time with you, and I like your take on media. At least you're not an annoying film student. See you in the next vid xo
I've never seen Westworld. You and others keep talking about it. I may have to look into it. I know there was a film with Yul Brynner many, many years ago, but I never saw it.
The serie is based on the movie, but the less you know about what its really about, the better I would say. So don't look to much into it, before you see the serie.
4:45 Sneaky Amazon reference? And from Matt Berry? Not really a spoiler if you don't get the context, the founder of Rob Co makes a very brief cameo in ep 8
Definitely listen to some of the Fallout game soundtracks. They are cut well into the later episodes where you start finding out some of what is really going on. And yes, everyone should love the Ghoul because all true Fallout players eventually are the Ghoul all the way down to the sarcastic attitude and trigger finger.
It will come to RUclips eventually. Because there are so many episodes, I want to release the seasons as "part 1, part 2, etc." I can only watch one episode per week right now, so I'm waiting until I'm almost finished to start posting it on RUclips.
@ if I may recommend, don’t lock yourself into a part1/part2 style. The first 3 seasons do not line up with the narrative progression/ novel. The first book runs S1 E 1-10, plus S2 E 1-5. That makes it an easy 3 parter. The second book runs S2 E6-13 and S3 E1-6. 14 Episodes is a bit harder. The third book is S3 7-13- a bit rushed since they thought they were being cancelled. Also, with your analysis, I would feel bad if you were rushed and trying to edit overly hard. Seasons 1,4,5, and 6 can each work that way, but I think seasons 2 and 3 need to be 3 parters. Also, consider if you do them individually, you don’t have to edit as much, and give you steady content for over a year. Expanse fans WILL stick around and watch. Lastly, I have watched a lot of reactions to these shows and you bring something special. You are doing great!
I love the way your mind works. Turning Lucy into a goose is a great visual! Since you are only a few episodes away from finishing Fallout, and we have to wait an unknown amount of time for season 2, I am curious. Has anyone requested or recommended you watch Wednesday yet. If not, then consider this a request/recommendation to watch it. Wednesday is so good, and the choice they made for the cast is spot on. The story is marvelous! I guarantee you won't be disappointed. To top it all off, the second season airs in September this year, so not much of a wait. Enjoy the rest of Fallout!
Thank you! Alas, Wednesday came out right before I started this channel, so I’ve already seen it and can’t do a first time reaction 😩 I do want to do season 2 when it comes out though!
@@movienightwithjacqui Oh darn, well, at least you can react to season 2. I can't wait to see how they continue the story for Wednesday and who they introduce to the show. It should be fun!
So Much I want to say, but a lot of it is in regards to the next episode so I'll refrain at this point. although I do believe you have already seen that episode at this point making the risk for spoiling anything very slim... but yeah, Vault 4 does look very suspicious. remember what Coop said? Specializing in what radiation does to Human DNA?
Another great analysis. Did you note that the scientists in the commercial were named Hawthorne, same as the lab Max and Lucy went into and got trapped. This episode is "The Trap" But who is trapped? Max and Lucy? The Ghoul? Pre war Cooper or perhaps it is you the viewer? The conversation between Barb and Cooper is one of the best scenes. The scene in the classroom is the first time the Fallout theme music is used.
Now when they in the room and sexual talking was happening. Want u to know as a reactor Maximus was failing all his charisma checks 😆. In the game u get tested in various ways based on your attributes
@Nomadic-canadian he knows about tempered lining and he was quick to notice and react to danger like the people on the bridge. I'd say he has below average int but certainly not 1, and his perception and agility are good enough to get the jump on the fiends so probably actually above average on that. I think his luck is actually pretty bad. He always gets into situations where he does what he thinks is the right thing with the info he has and it ends up biting him in the ass. That doesn't sound like good luck to me
Only two episodes to go! Episode 7 is scheduled for this Friday, January 31st, and barring any catastrophes, episode 8 will be posted next Wednesday, February 5th! And then comes the long wait for season 2...
Perfect timing! My official replica Pip-Boy (which I ordered last spring when the show first came out) is scheduled to be delivered on Friday.
Nice! I wonder what new series you’ll watch next. Vox Machina, perhaps? (Let me dream)

Man, when Coop's wife said "no, one of the good vaults", talk about dropping a bombshell in a single sentence! (pun intended unapologetically)
My heart skipped a beat on Cooper's behalf
And so his downfall begins and the possible realisation that his wife has been playing him for a while. It makes it all the more sadder...after all she is a vault-tec executive. Notice how she pulls away from him when he wants to kiss/hug her.
I love that when the Fallout motif plays (when Lucy stretches out the NCR flag in the classroom), you immediately didn't like it and became unsettled. I've never considered what that piece would sound like to someone who didn't have it ingrained in their gray matter. 😆
Yeah, for any long term fan of the franchise that tune is pure nostalgia fuel along with "War, war never changes"
I love that they had the restraint to wait so long to bring out the theme.
The music that played when Lucy revealed the NCR flag is the theme for the Fallout video game series.
I love the games so damn much that, I have to admit, when she unfurled the NCR flag and that music played, I may or may not have gotten a little dust in my eyes.
I 100% got goosebumps when that theme played.
Lots of dust around when that moment happens...
That was one of like 3-4 times in the series where I jumped up on my couch Scientology style. The season 2 reveal at the end also got one of those, as well as a couple of the Ghoul's uses of the Terrifying Presence perk

Between the sequence Maximus keeps remembering of him coming out of the fridge to the power armour at Shady Sands, and the hot shower question, about 90% of his back story is revealed to us in about 20 seconds of show.
"A man and his dog" is also a reference to the book (and movie) "A boy and his dog" which also talks about nuclear war :D
And, so I hear, inspiration for the original Fallout--including why there's a dog named "Dogmeat."
Not only talks about nuclear war, but is a post-nuclear apocalypse setting and about a boy and his dog discovering an underground society living in a bunker (vault) that has culturally stagnated.
The description of "A boy and his dog" on IMDB makes it sound like it's corn.
It's even worse, it's completely vile.
Matt Berry was also Laszlo Cravensworth in the TV series "What We Do in the Shadows".
I will always see/hear him as Dr Todd Rivers in the legendary 'Garth Merenghi's Darkplace'
he's a great comedic actor but part of me wishes they had the original voice for Codsworth from Fallout 4 play that role
It's worth noting that Cooper talks about wanting to retire to Bakersfield. It's ruins are a key location in Fallout 1, and very likely related to Cooper's backstory as a ghoul.
I think it was always a joke about the vibe of Bakersfield that they made it into Necropolis.
One thing that was interesting, Cooper wasn't the one that wrecked the Super Duper Mart, Lucy did, but he covered for her.
well the guy's goons found Cooper in the middle of the aftermath. It's only logical that they thought he did it, and who is he to not take advantage of everybody's fear of his reputation.
his way of thanking her, i want to think....
no fancy words, just a deed, for which he does not even want recognition.
Dystopia doesn't predict the future - it critiques the present. And Fallout does a masterful job of social commentary.

She's the only reacter I've seen to catch the Vault 4 connection from the beginning to where where Lucy and Titus are.

Holy Shite I am early, can't wait to watch. 😁
Thank you!

22:10 welcome to fallout😅
Did you notice how quickly Barb (Cooper's wife) quickly changed the subject and/or became defensive and argumentative?

6:50 This Scene! we learn a lot about how the surface world operates (and specifically about the Brotherhoods stance on Sex-ed) and also we learn a lot about our dear Jacqui!

Ahh, Vault 4...One of the better vaults in the end.

Your reactions are great, but I really can't wait for the next episode, lol.

For more Matt Berry see: Garth Merengi's Dark Place, What We Do in the Shadows, Krapopolis, Disenchanted...

Sneaky Amazon reference? And from Matt Berry? Not really a spoiler if you don't get the context, the founder of Rob Co makes a very brief cameo in ep 8

Definitely listen to some of the Fallout game soundtracks. They are cut well into the later episodes where you start finding out some of what is really going on.
And yes, everyone should love the Ghoul because all true Fallout players eventually are the Ghoul all the way down to the sarcastic attitude and trigger finger.
Quick question. Will Expanse come out on You Tube or Patreon only?
7:03 That's how I will describe sex to my kids if I ever have them

crazier and crazier
What I love about this episode is that how reactors react is almost exactly the same. It really makes me not trust our own human instincts to things.

The muldaver relevation is so good

Now go get into fallout casting call for season 2
Haha that would be a dream!
6 and 7 show that the writers and directors did their job well

Jacqui, have you watched What We Do in the Shadows? If not, I would watch you react to every episode.
I got something special for you Above
So Much I want to say, but a lot of it is in regards to the next episode so I'll refrain at this point.
although I do believe you have already seen that episode at this point making the risk for spoiling anything very slim...
but yeah, Vault 4 does look very suspicious.
remember what Coop said? Specializing in what radiation does to Human DNA?
I love the misdirection in this episode. I can't wait to see your reaction for the next time. The upcoming twists and reveals are forking epic!!!!
WTF is wrong with you? 🙄
Get ready for unexpected.

You liek matt Berry check out what we do in the shadows
and The IT Crowd, and The Toast of London... he's hilarious!
If you like symbolism and parallels, you will enjoy Arcane.

You haven't seen What We Do In the Shadows? Next reaction series🎉

When she held out the flag that was actually the NCR theme from the games.

Now when they in the room and sexual talking was happening.
Want u to know as a reactor Maximus was failing all his charisma checks 😆.
In the game u get tested in various ways based on your attributes
Perception was hitting any highs either :P
@ think the only stats he has high are strength endurance and luck. All the others are at 1 😂
@Nomadic-canadian he knows about tempered lining and he was quick to notice and react to danger like the people on the bridge. That doesn't sound like good luck to me
He us max end for sure though
@@andrewdemarco3512 Probably not luck, but the "Idiot Savant" Perk. Definitely seems to pull a lot of homers during the season...
