Andrew worden Isuzu helped gm make the original duramax. Isuzu had more influence on it though if I’m not mistaken. Duramax’s are pretty strong we use a couple of them here in the log woods along with Cummins. No fords though I’ve lost entirely to much money and time depending on them trucks.
Tanner187 97 I’m a Cummins guy always been. So Cummins all the way for me. Still have my built 97 dodge 2500 12 valve Cummins. I twin turboed it, lifted it, put badass rims on it and tires and all that crap. I made it into a TRUCK. Pretty much. It’s got stacks in the bed it’s all black and chrome. Yeah. Also shit man so Japan did have to do with Duramax. I thought it was just an all American engine. Welp now I know lol
Can you elaborate on how the transmission is controlled? Stand alone? Or just the factory PCM? This is a great video series in how you did this conversion and was fun to watch. I just wish I could find an engine that was anywhere near what you paid. Just have to keep searching.
$11,225 in good old American dollars Garage real estate of having a truck parked and disassembled for several weeks at least Land real estate of storing the donor truck Hundreds of man hours tearing the trucks apart and piecing them back together The countless tools you need to pull all this off that almost nobody except for mechanics keep on hand The know-how to do all this, unless you add a few hundred hours of looking things up online and basically learning to be a mechanic ... This was a badass project and I'm looking forward to seeing more swaps like the smoke stang
Now that you have done this swap does this mean this truck is "Built Ford Tough" or is it "Cummin strong"? Edit: I just realized I misspelled "Cummins" but I'll leave it there because it sounds like a good time either way
Westen...you're a man of high caliper 😎 This is another content loaded great video! Just wondering...how many hours do you think you have into this project? I'd be interested to factor in your labor as a part of the cost. Keep the fun filled, high quality content coming!!!

id just like to say sir thank you for your content and will to get at it :P Being here before 50k subs its cool to see the growth of your channel we all know you deserve! Hell Yeah Brother!
If they tune the existing computer you can still have the tow/haul function. The other option you don't have tow/haul. I don't think they have any stand alone tuners the customer can tune by themselves for the 5r110. They didn't a year or two ago when I did my swap. I bought a livewire ts to record a datalog off the computer, then email that to DCS. They write a tune, email it back, use the livewire to load it in the truck computer, take it for a spin and record another datalog, email that back to them, and keep doing that till it's dialed in. Could maybe take it to a performance shop to tune also probably.
Wow ! Look at these subs, and look at views in 24 hr. Been here since OBS 7.3 auction buy, I'm assuming your strapping good looks and charm have got to be the reason...😜🤘

Hey bud! I have a 2009 F250 Super Duty with a 5.9L gas engine I’d like to swap out for a Cummins but idk if I need the 12 or 24 valve for what I need it for as I’m trying to get into hotshot work!
I have a 2008 f350 and I’m thinking about swapping in the 5.9. I like the 6.4 powerstroke that’s in it but I’m more of a Cummins fan. Do u think I should? I’m honestly probably goin to
If it was my truck, having the CEL on all the time with an excellent condition vehicle would bug me big time, especially with something I've upgraded the motor in. With my beaters the CEL is pretty much always on and I'm fine with it though... Since the 5.9 12V has a 100% mechanical fuel injection system there isn't much the OBD/CEL system can monitor. I wonder if the firmware in the BCM (or whichever computer does the OBD) can be tweaked to still monitor everything else like transmission, brakes, etc. but stop monitoring the engine?

The countless tools you need to pull all this off that almost nobody except for mechanics keep on hand
The know-how to do all this, unless you add a few hundred hours of looking things up online and basically learning to be a mechanic
...
This was a badass project and I'm looking forward to seeing more swaps like the smoke stang
Where or how did you find a ford with a bad motor??
when reaching into a jar of cookies, i'm not worried about which one is the smartest...
Now that you have done this swap does this mean this truck is "Built Ford Tough" or is it "Cummin strong"?
Edit: I just realized I misspelled "Cummins" but I'll leave it there because it sounds like a good time either way
Still "Built Ford Tough" cause over 90% of the truck is still a Ford..
@@CreatedMind sadly
I'd say best of both worlds. However he did use basically the only good part in any Dodge truck.
Just started watching your videos, nice job very enjoyable
Westen...you're a man of high caliper 😎 This is another content loaded great video! Just wondering...how many hours do you think you have into this project? I'd be interested to factor in your labor as a part of the cost. Keep the fun filled, high quality content coming!!!
Westen, You forgot to subtract the RUclips ad revenue that you made from buying the truck and letting us watch you build it! I would love to think that we (Your RUclips fans) bought the truck for you!
id just like to say sir thank you for your content and will to get at it :P Being here before 50k subs its cool to see the growth of your channel we all know you deserve! Hell Yeah Brother!
Thank you for the cost breakdown! Great video
You said you got the 5r110 tuned. What tuning did you go with? Great video!
That looked like my math homework all through highschool.
You should do a video were you take it to the ford dealer to change the oil and record their reactions
Wow ! Look at these subs, and look at views in 24 hr.
Been here since OBS 7.3 auction buy, I'm assuming your strapping good looks and charm have got to be the reason...😜🤘
YOU GET EXTRA CREDIT FOR BEING LEFT HANDED.....AND THANKS FOR THE COST INFORMATION.....
Proper truck 👍👍🤘👌😎
Mr, Champlin, I want to thank you for everything you put into your videos. Its because of the laughs and cool projects you do that got me into the diesel industry. I have a tempermental 6.0 of my own and whenever im down on my luck about it I just watch a couple of your videos and im back to work laughing my behind off. Keep doing what you're doing brother!
I love this comment!! 😘
What transmission did you use for the swap ????
I’m honestly probably goin to
Can you do another build with the same year truck but put a 7.3 in it out of your ‘95
billybullfrog leave that 95 alone but another 7.3 in the model truck would be cool !!!
Why would you take the heart out of the 95? It’s a better truck than the newer one.
Finally, Wes! Been waitin' on this video since man was waitin' on a woman.
Not a Cummins question, however, are you planning on coming out with any merchandise? Hats, shirts, etc. I know I’d be interested for sure!
The 6.0 is much better than the 6.4. At least it can be fixed. 6.4 is a throw away motor
I love the stock wheels.
Are you going to fix the check engine light with the 35 codes..lol
yeah a piece of tape over the light
If it was my truck, having the CEL on all the time with an excellent condition vehicle would bug me big time, especially with something I've upgraded the motor in. With my beaters the CEL is pretty much always on and I'm fine with it though...
Since the 5.9 12V has a 100% mechanical fuel injection system there isn't much the OBD/CEL system can monitor. I wonder if the firmware in the BCM (or whichever computer does the OBD) can be tweaked to still monitor everything else like transmission, brakes, etc. but stop monitoring the engine?
All that work and now the engine light.
A soldering iron could fix that pretty easily. That's how I fixed mine.
I’m a new subscriber. Love this build, looking forward to the next one!
love out of the box thinking....BAM!! your awesome .... we finally found out if placing 2017 OEM Ford Shelby body panels on a normal Mustang GT...come find out on our chanel .
That shit is so stupid. Your not transforming a gt into a gt350 your being a wanna be.
I just found your channel and I love it. Keep up the great wrk
I drive a 2008 Ram 3500 Laramie but I like the looks of that Ford better. Then again, I sure do love my Cummins
