I bought a 1985 F250 4x4 6.9 idi 4 speed manual regular cab project truck. Sometimes I think I must be crazy to take this on but, when he's done it will all be worth it. His name is Sebastian and he runs pretty good after some work on his engine. He admitted he had an addiction problem with Starter Fluid so we got him help for that. Now I'm working on the cab electrical issues. He has a personality that's for sure.
Yes its refreshing watching a good ole boy turn wrenches and make things work instead of a rich sissy boy paying someone else to do the work because he can't get his hands dirty.
Yhea hes awesome. I love watching his videos and hes got a great personality and sense of humor. I bet hes fun to sit a drink a beer with and share stories
I think I'm a Kansas man at heart. I've been all over the United States and have never had the pleasure of visiting or living in Kansas. I feel like there's a lot of land one can buy for a reasonable price, and a certain freedom to do what one wants on that said land. Love the videos Westen, you seem like a genuine, funny person.
It's always nice to watch an automotive vlog on RUclips where the vlogger doesn't take themselves or the project they're working on seriously. Keep doing what you're doing!!!
Still one of the most amazing auction scores EVER. A 7.3 PSD OBS truck like that, in that condition, Westen not only did good, but he also got L U C K Y !!! New exhaust sounds really good!
he's done the damn thing!! im buying a 97, 7.3 tomorrow and stumbled across westin only been following him for the past year and a half so im glad this video was suggested
Hey Westen, loving the 7.3L, great eye for the buy! Chicago is not called 'The Windy City' because of actual wind or the weather either. That term or name came for the Political Wind in City Government. I knew the past director of the Chicago History Museum. He told me this fact in the 1980's from his own historical research.
Old square body ford trucks made for work not glamour and still manage to look gorgeous gotta love it. I could listen to that engine all day long. Westen you have great character and extremely smart keep it up.
I had a '97 F350 XLT 7.3 CC LB in mind condition, I was the original purchaser. When I sold it four years ago, it had 60k orig miles. Most the ones you find today are totally trashed. That said the most significant upgrades I did over the course of a few years, was a PMF reverse shackle kit, PMF pitman arm upgrade, trackbar mod, limit straps and a basic Fox shock upgrade (nothing special, just your basic cheap Fox’s). The ride quality improvement was mind blowing. I also did a Fox dual steering shock absorber upgrade, stainless bake lines and air bags. The truck didn’t look badass until I put 35” Toyo Mud Terrains on a set of Mickey Classic II wheels. Everywhere I went people commented how nice my truck was. I later did a Bank’s exhaust and the intercooler kit. You can get really nuts with upgrades but those were the most significant. The other upgrade I did was take all the seats out, carpet (carefully) to insulate and soundproof the cab with Dynamat and Dynaliner, and sprayed Lizardskin behind the heat shield. Put everything back in and installed JL Audio C2’s and C3’s, amp and new single din NAV headunit. It was pretty much a new truck. I regret selling it everyday. F250/350 1995-1997 (ideally 96-97) trucks are the best investment and can be easily modded to be awesome! I'm looking for a nice one as a project truck. Hats off to you for finding one so cheap!
You sure have come a long way my friend! Your projects are original and very intriguing to follow along with! You’re a dang goof man, but you’re just being yourself and I love that! Always excited to see what’s coming up next! Keep ‘em coming bud.
I Bought a 97 dodge 2500 12 valve manual transmission for 3000$. It was my first vehicle. Junior year in highschool I bought it... it had rust and other issues (typical old dodges). But, I cleaned up the rust (the chassis was good just had body rust) so I dealt with that and tuned the engine and fixed its little issues, then I had a myself a decent old truck that was real fun to drive. Driving it stock for 2 years was awesome. It was white, and it is quad cab long bed... around beginning or middle of my senior year I painted the truck all black and got it stacks in the bed, a lift, and some rims and tires. It was built. It made around 750hp. Currently now it’s making a little over 900hp. It’s built. I have that and my new 2018 Dodge Ram 3500. It’s making 625 hp with a bigger turbo and cam. That’s a towin truck. Pulls my race trailer and a gooseneck flatbed.(the race trailer is also a gooseneck lol. I have 4 trailers in total. The others are bumper pull. I have a flatbed dodge also, it’s a 2005. Dodge 4500 2005 manual transmission. That has a tune on it. It’s got the ball hitch in the bed. That truck is mostly pulling the gooseneck flatbed. I might sell it, because I have my other 2 trucks. It’s nice to have a flatbed though. I might sell it, the new dodge is the daily driver, and still drive my 2nd gen also... I’m not selling that truck it’s too much fun. Dodges are awesome. Cummins power all the way... ford too. I’ll take a 05 6.0 powerstroke or a 7.3. Love those trucks and engines. Ford and dodge trucks are awesome. Maybe I’ll buy a ole 7.3 I don’t know. My buddy has one... it’s built like crazy.
Love this channel. Got a 96 f250 of my own, been rebuilding a little while. Westens got a good sense of humor and he makes me feel a little better about the fact that it doesn't work 😂. Gives me hope.
Been out of work since February 9f this year due to a massive heart attack, happy birthday to me. The day after :( . Any way found this channel a few days ago and can't get enough. Awesome, Westen with the long hair and his mannerisms reminds me of my youngest son, about the same build with my boy standing 6'5" . But dang I love these videos and the projects Westen does can't wait for more.
Great job on the channel Westen! I would like to see some videos about the auction process and how you find your projects. Hope to see some of these in the future.

My family used to have a 1997 f-350 7.3 crew cab long bed, dark red with a grey strip down the middle. We used to hook up the fifth wheel every 2 weeks to go camping on the Kenai river when my dad came home from the slope (oil fields in Phrudoe Bay). My dad sold the truck in 05 when I was 7. If I have the chance to get a good condition 7 3 you bet you ass I will get it because the 6.4 will never compare to the memories
I did like the sound, old 7,3 is a tank. I never heard of a Resonator on a Diesel Exhaust, But the good sound works for me. I have f250 2004 6.0 with straight 4" pipe. I would like to try a Resonator if I could make it my self. Keep Tinkering Guys
Why not find a chev/GMC and do a 5.9 swap my buddy in Australia is doing one in an 88 3500 for something different than a Fummins. I just sent him a 6.0 starter and Dodge 5.9 motor mounts from here in Canada to go with his U.S built conversion kit he imported.
As a canadian, im very proud that you've got one of our wonderful products to put on your fine piece of american machinery. Good day to you sir and sorry that it was dented.
His dad followed the maintenance manual to the T. When he got around 500k he started using marvel mystery oil every other oil change and ran it through the fuel system every third tank to help everything stay conditioned.
I noticed on the Cobra head down pipe that it had a heat shield around it. Are you going to put a heat shield around the new down pipe? I loved the video.
I have the same teuck in red..an old company work truck..Rode hard and hung up wet..then all redone about 5 or 6 years ago.. And then was given to me... Love my 7.3 She is called the buffalo bus..and has been around the country numerous times

Honestly the 12v is over used. Ita a great engine and all but every one does it. Now you want an engine of the same displacement that is better in every way to the 12v. The international dt360. That engine wipes ita ass with Cummins. It's a heavier engine with thicker parts. It can handle more power. Its wetsleeve as well so easier to work on and they tend to be cheaper.

Oddly something I've noticed about the F350 xlt is that several I've seen the owner took good care of them, I guess because it was a luxury truck in its time

Cruising obs vids on RUclips, and I decided to give this one a gander. Your personality is amazing, your content is spot on, and I generally enjoyed this video. Always find the obs vids to be informative, but often can't stand to listen to the owners, nails on a chalk board. The first few sentences out of your mouth I liked, subscribed and hit the bell. Keep making these hoss
Love the truck dude. Funny thing is, I raced you on main a few weeks back, and didn’t even know you were on youtube, and couldn’t believe my eyes when i saw this truck 😂

Oddly something I've noticed about the F350 xlt is that several I've seen the owner took good care of them, I guess because it was a luxury truck in its time
I LOVE your channel man. I would love to win a hat. God bless you and your family.

I’ve got a 96’ F-350 XLT 7.3 with dual tires up here in Michigan. It looks just like this truck
man finally found a truck channel that is in same state as me! listen to that pony express power rumble
I had the exact same problem with the valve cover gasket on my 97 F-250 7.3 and the same side as well. Love this channel
