Martyo can play anything and he loves what he's playing. Tht's what makes him an awesome guitar player, and one of my favorites too. Personally I love Blues as well as Thrash...
I think people who crtical this are soooo missing the point, he was giving an illustration on how you can use the dynamics of blues to influence/enhance your own playing no matter which style... Why can't you see it for what it is... a excellent improvisation!
marty sholdn't be playing any type of blues.. .. what i know him to be amazing for is his CRAZZY cool exotic style and his strange picking style. i love everything he does when he goes crazy with exotic scales

He says why he plays that way with his picking hand...for a more free flowing, clean sound from the strings. Its not because he had an injury. It was DAVE MUSTAINE'S doctor that told him he would never play again after nerve damage in his right hand.
Marty has a trademark sound and trademark licks. What I was referring to was the fact that a lot of people outside of the Megadeth realm would have no clue.

There, the indonesians (Who made major music) met the "american bluesmen" and their music fused together; resulting in a major type kind of blues. If u have a good ear u can easily hear the dinstict major/exotic harmonies. Instead of the regular blues.
Marty is JUST FANTASTIC in all styles. Whats Fucked Up about this is to be able to get that BLUES tone from his Custom Jackson. It's not actually a Strat, or Tele. Can you imagine him using Claptons, or better yet a SRV Setup??

So while you might not care for Marty when it comes to blues, (although he is rather talented I must say) he can play on any guitar he wants and will still have a blues feel because it's all about soul and feeling, not equipment.

There are guitarists who openly admit a Hendrix influence and those who hide and deny it. Whether or not you like Hendrix he still had talent for his time. Today, virtuosos are much more common thanks to pioneers of various instruments. Hell, artists like Hendrix music is still better than 60% the stuff that comes out today.

Blues is not a music style, a more appropriate way to think of it, is to think of it as a "feeling" so as long as you put yourself in what you're playin' there is no wrong way to play the blues...
One of the way's to distinguish real player from a fake player is when they play the blues, every idiot can learn scales and run them as fast as they can but only true players can play the blues right- Marty got the blues down right he is definitely real. Respect
0:29 - 0-40 = hawaian/indonesian style (Major) turnaround and he plays 0:47 - 0:52 a traditional blues (minor) turnaround. Turaround is chord sequence right before u start the 12 bar blues again. But since he's being marty he sliced it up:P
@neoclassic09 thats the whole point of hendrix's impact on the rock scene; he was influential enough that a specific way of playing can be associated with hendrix thus people can aim to be like him or aim to be as far from him as possible. And if you think about it, no self respecting musician endeavours to be a copy of hendrix. Marty just doesn't want to be a copy, that doesn't mean he doesn't acknowledge Jimi's contribution

It has a hint of a jazzy feel to it also, which makes it even more orignal and better than the standard "pentatonic prison" that nearly all blue players play from
dude blues is a genre that's all about soul. not amps or guitars or pedals. SRV could play on an setup and retain his sound and style because he has SOUL. Play with your heart and it won't matter what you're playing on, it will be blues :)
I think no one is the best,maybe every guitarist can compared based on technical aspects but i think its about creativity,style and making sounds that you really wanted, of course technique is essential also, for me Marty is certain "Guitar-God" because he can play what's inside his mind and go with the flow of chord progressions,he can make sounds on the guitar the way he really wanted at any instant moment

One of Jason Becker's favorite guitarists was and still is Hendrix. All those years hanging with Jason Becker he has definetly heard and maybe even played a Hendrix tune. Its kind of like the singers who try their hardest not to be like Robert Plant, but always end up being like Robert Plant on stage and even in their singing.
@BLUEScrazy he is not influenced by hendrix, there's an interview he did where he talks about how he wanted to get as far away from that way of playing a possible.

SRV was a white boy too, and he's one of the best blues musicans ever, and, for most practical purposes, Jimmy Page was basically a blues guitarist
