They sold out shortly after and they were never that good to begin with. Lars is actually one of the only good things about Metallica as his drumming is certainly unique. Even Green Day makes better metal than Metallica, besides, with bands like Avenged Sevenfold or Megadeth or Dream Theater around these days who would want to listen to such an awfully old band like Metallica?

I think the Loureiro-Verbeuren (I think I botched Dirk’s last name, forgive me DX) lineup is really right, both super tasty and groovy, Kiko is like a mix between Chris P. And Marty and Dirk is as well with Nick and Gar, he gets Gar’s little hits real good!
Agreed, Menza and Friedman were the best thing to happen to the band after SFSGSW was such a TERRIBLE album. Poland and Samuelson gone, the band needed a shot ala Pulp Fiction. Sustained through numerous albums. Best lineup period.

dimebag is really overrated, his riffs are some of the best ones in metal, but the only good dimebag solos are domination and cemetery gates, the rest are pretty much non sense licks and bends.

dimebag and marty are in my opinion the best metal guitarists to ever exist. Dimebag can write killer riffs AND solos that are not only impressive but musical as well. Marty writes mainly solos only, but again, the musicality and technic in them is superficial. They are both great writers and performers, but much different. Marty's solos sound like classical music, absolute works of art, while dime's have that dark, aggressive feel, which gives a lot of charachter to them. So, I wouldnt say that dime is overrated at all.

Marty is the one that made me want to learn about vibrato. His articulation and melodic sense is top tier. The wide vibrato made it sound like he's using a wah, but not, the bends is so nice too

There’s something I really don’t like about all the “virtuoso” guitarist Dave has hired playing Marty’s solos, his style is so unique, and while he is extremely good he’s not exactly a virtuoso, and u can hear it in his playing, u can hear him playing his heart out and the strain to mail his phrases almost give it character. When these other guys play it n it’s just so smooth n effortless I feel like u can hear the effortlessness in the playing and it doesn’t sound as good. Just my opinion.
I mean he has all the qualities of a virtuoso-, Vixen, Cacophony, Megadeth, Solo works His solo works often fall into the realm of a Virtuoso tbh. He's surely unorthodox..
Marty is much more of a musician than many "shredder" guitarists. Kiko Loreiro is also a very good guitarist, perhaps more technical but not as musically creative.
And Kiko still manged to fuck up all Marty's solos live... At least Broderick was precise and tried to give some emotionstto the bendings...while Kiko doesn't give a fuck he's enjoying his money and that's it
