All 8077 series combo locks leave the factory set to a single digit, 25 Turn the dial counter clockwise 4 whole rotations resting on 25. Then turn clockwise till you feel it stop. Pull on shackle.
I have what's left of an 8088 I think it was, Don't put the back on and don't let the window close . I screwed mine up trying to make my own change key and got the wheels miss-aligned, tried removing the back, there's multiple pins from the sides hidden, F'd it all up. I would like to get either version. Have a great day
