    lock is eaxctly same, 8077 has a rear plate, wind screw in shackle open and back slides up, combo key fits in back( back is same as 8088 but set scre differs, 8077 has rear plate to cover hole! plus change hole is locked off

    I worked in defense. Up until about 15 years ago the 8077 was REQUIRED to secure classified documents in file cabinets (with a locking bar). Before that it was the 8078. No fooling around there.

    I had a friend give me a 8088. He paid $2.00 no combo. It's a beautiful lock. I tried the default combo from the vid and it didnt open, but I wanted to say thank you for the tip. Heading over to watch the other video you mentioned.

    Great finds and great locks. Change keys can be found on eBay from time to time. Also, the 8077 has to have a changeable combination or they'd all be set to the default of 25-0.

      Yes, it's obvious that the screw on the back releases the protective shell and then it's almost identical to the 8088.

    I have the same one with 49 on the dial. Problem is the access slot is half stuck open. Someone must have turned the dial and held it open and then re- shackled it. Locksmith used both codes 25-0 and the other one. Lock is pretty much useless. Also someone used oil to lubricate the lock. It's jammed with grime

    @LockButcherShop: Great video! And sorry for my english; I try my best ;-). Today I bought exactly this lock at a german fleamarket. For some reason, this combination does not work. What could be the reason? And another question. What does the small marker to the left of the "0" mean? Maybe you can help me. Thanks & best regards

    • @biggawinnacrapsa3870
      @biggawinnacrapsa3870 6 лет назад

      The small marker to the left of the zero is used when changing the combination. The reason that the default combination did not work on the lock you bought at the fleamarket is because someone changed the combination, since leaving it on the default combination leaves the lock vulnerable to anyone who knows what the default combination is.

    I got three of them straight from the president of the company and the default combination was 10-20-30, I forget the rights and lefts, and they disappeared (one was destroyed by a friend's angry older brother) without me every changing the combos. (made the previous comment before watching the whole video, lol)

      If you go to their website (Google the brand) they have an operators manual pdf you can download for the 8077. In it they have a part number for a combination recovery tool and instructions on if you can and how to use it. I've seen the tools listed on ebay for around $15.... but I've seen the lock with combination listed for $20-$40 too. So it's up to you if you want to try to recover it:D. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

    lol people saying this guy doesnt know what he's talking about either arent doing the default combination properly or dont have the correct model for the defaut combo to work,you pass 10 3 times counter clockwise and on the 4th rotation you hit 10, then you pass 20 2 times and hit it on the 3rd rotation going clockwise then 2 counter clockwise turn pass 30 and the 2 rotation you hit 30 then an immediate clockwise turn to 0 and your lock is open
