Seeing this as a CSK fan makes me feel things I should not feel while watching this channel

we all talk about CSK's opening pairs being one of the major reasons for their success but we don't talk about their bowling enough. CSK's one overseas fast bowling quick compiled with a group of Indian drop out quicks who can bat at crunch times is a beautiful T20 tactic before the world was actually discussing T20 tactics. They understood that allrounders were the way forward much before the world did and safeguarded Jadeja and Bravo for eternity.
Ntini in the initial days. Bollinger followed him. Ngidi in '18. Josh Hazlewood in '21. Pathirana in '23. Every single one were utility cricketers and the rest of the pace bowling were a bunch of nobodies whose style of play were just created to bring out most impact for the team. It is an example of how clear CSK's role defining is to these youngsters so that they could do their work to the point and the team benefits. A model of how T20 cricket should be played ever since its start until 2023.
God I'll miss this CSK which owned this format for 15 years or so and I'll miss the T20 cricket which was played in pitches on which 150 was a winning total and 180 was a big chase. In this new era of T20 cricket of flat tracks and smaller boundaries, who has the bigger muscle is all that is going to matter and not tactics.

@@kalaichelvan precisely. Came into the team fag end of the tournament. Played the last 3 games. And 2 playoffs. Got a 4/10 along with 11 wickets in 7 matches and was never to be see in the same form ever again in the IPL

Its incredible how great pathirana has been and yet is some distance behind bumrah, bumrah obviously is in his prime whereas pathirana is starting out

The fact that you are even comparing him to Bumrah shows how great he is.
He has only played 6 T20is, not even 2 full IPL seasons, and yet is being mentioned in the same breath as one of the legends of the format. Shows how meteoric his rise has been.

So it was the bat who freed him from his mother's constant pressure and helped him get where he is now.Such a great bat !

Im tired of seeing post 2005 kids saying Pathirana is a faster version of Malinga. Nonsense Malinga was bowling 155kph IN TEST MATCHES around 2006 before his injuries. There is still footage of a 2006 SL vs NZ test match on YT which shows maling bowling 150kph in day 4 of a test match lol.
