I've used Schluter systems before for tile. But not for a shower. I have a job coming up in a few months and have spent the last few months trying to find a good video for this. This is by far the best one. Concise and complete. Thank you.
I with you on that all I use now is go board cheaper a lot better product, I still dry pack my pans and then use membrane material for the floor but your right go board is a lot better product.
Also remember when you're using heated floors, you don't need to reach high heat to be comfortable in cold environments. Something like 70F or 80F is going to be plenty comfortable when it's 60F or 65F in the house.
Don't get why this Schluter system is still so popular, not only is really expensive but it's a serious puzzle piece with risk for failure with each piece if not done 100% correct. Why not use GO Board, Tile Ready, or whatever other system where you simply seal each corner adhesive/caulk.
Using thinset under the waterproofing strips for joints/corners will never truly be waterproof because the thinset wicks water. In the EU you can't user thinset under these strips and have to use an adhesive that is actually waterproof.

Don't. Use Tile Ready pan.
Thank you for this video.
After switching to Tile Redi pans and GoBoard backers, i couldnt be happier.
Red Tile is absolutely the best shower base on the market.

Ps. I could almost see you roll your eyes as you did the vaccum trip... 😂
why stop the schluter board before you reach the shower pipe?
How efficient is the heating cable?
Electric resistance heating is 100% efficient. All energy is transmitted into heat. It’s inefficient on purpose to achieve a desired efficiency
@ gotcha. So it’s mighty expensive to run
@ depends on your electricity cost and your delta temperature. And how much cable/sq ft you are heating

Cool. Also Medicare 4 All.
If you want to advertise socialism, don't do it on a channel dedicated to people who actually have jobs.

So much incomplete information
Great stuff, but if you can't use a drill, this project ain't for you.
Drills are complicated tools?
I know how to push the button on a drill. Guess I'm good to go!
Drill is a basic tool for any job site. Even hammer not used as often as drill
Cmon. Those spacers costs a buck per hundred. Why it’s not a usable tool?
That curb has gotta go. What is this, the 80s?? 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ Then you’d avoid all that ridiculous origami
