Heey, I'm Turkish and I just want to say many people come to Turkey from East and from West. But your observations are really good, you really experienced and observed your surroundings very carefully and you were unbiased which is pretty much the most important thing when you go to another country. I'm very glad to see you content of your vacation :)
Thank you :)
No.2 is exactly same in Azerbaijan but nard game instead
I’m Turkish too😊🇹🇷
I'm iranian.none of things you said is strange.they love their country so they have flags every where but even less than USA.they are Muslim but some of them drink alcohol because not every Muslim is a beliver.does all Christens go to church every Sunday?they have secular laws like the ones we had before revolution.beutiful country tho.by the way ebru gundes is the best😃
ebru gundes? you said this just because she married with iranian? :D ebru gündes is uncouth woman.
Bekri Mustafa no I said it because she is so talented.
we are not muslim. we are a secular country. It is so frustrating to see people talking about our people's faith. a lot of us are muslim. that doesnt make everyone in turkey is muslim. there are so many different kinds of faith in turkey. also a lot of people who is muslim are only believers they dont follow Islam's rules.
Bekri Mustafa ebru marriad with turkish irani
@Hamid Hussein and thats not up to you. Its between them and allah. So do your thing. Its more like a culture that they born with for most of the muslim people in our country.
Turkey has secular laws not everyone has to be muslim
kardeş gavurlara hexabiblos tatbik edilir müslümanlaraysa islam hukuku bunu bu kadar uzatacak bir şey yok bir hukuk nizamı gelmesin diye kıvranıyorsunuz anasını satayım
On the paper..
adamsın reis konuş konuş da hakikati görsünler :D
Giorgio Macweeney it wasnt before Erdogan
yes bro therefore we love him :d so now Erdoğan is leader of Turkey . Today is government of Erdoğan's period (Gudur)
Have you been in USA yet? They even put the flags on metro trains. You see them everywhere. Even in the yards of houses. In Turkiye, except the national holidays and some national mourning days because of wars in our neighbors or terrorism, we don't put our flag everywhere because it's holy for us. Even finding a t-shirt with Turkish flag is so hard. But comparing to Europe, flag is so visible in Turkiye because we are so nationalistic. The reason is, we live right next to war zone that makes us feel more nationalistic than the rest of the world because we are always in danger to get the side effects of those wars in the region.
About the guys, those places are mainly visited by men but in the meantime, their wives or girlfriends or sisters are also hanging out with their friends as well either at home or outside.
Ankara has the worst side walks ever. I studied over there. I know the feeling..
About the ezan (the call for pray) and drinking. We were Christian, Jew, tengrist way before we became Muslim. And there are still some Turkic people who believe in these beliefs but the majority of the Turks who live in Turkiye are culturally Muslim and tolerant. Because we have been living with different people with different believes for more than a millennia. Plus, if you are a true believer of Islam, you cannot judge any one for their actions unless they do something illegal :)
Yalın Çetiner marmaris metro haves a Turkish flag.
Yes, they put it even underwear !! We Turks never do that our flag is important
Yalın Çetiner Even american puts them flag everywhere they can even wear it on them ass they isnt love them country like we do. This is our respect to our flags and they just put them flag in here vbecause they thing they should idk but im sure we dont have same reason for this 👍
well done mate, you made very good explanation ;)
Holy shit dude what a PERFECT explanation for our nation. I congradulate you.
turkey is hosting lots of different religions and cultures for hunreds of years.
this is why rules of turkish society made for living in peace with that much diversity.
otherwise they couldn't able to rule them under one flag.
admiral20055 shut up
SİVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS
How many million Christian Greeks,ArmeniansArabs have you slaughtered?
George Evangel If your name is George then you shouldn't talk much. Maybe you forgot but all the world remember Geoege W. Bush and they know who are the actually killers.
Turkey didnt kill anyone, USA kill millions people in middle east. You are real murderer.
A lot of Turkish flags must be really a strange thing in Turkey....
Dear POLATfather, well since you're Turkish you SHOULD know why we put them everywhere and you can write a helpful comment by explaining that instead of kissing ass of foreginers with those comments like that
stormi jenner İroni yaptı
What she means is, in other countries people don't have their flags everywhere. For example in the Netherlands.
Ben Hollanda'da gurbetçiyim. Burada birtek okulu bitirdiğinde, eve bayrak asarlar okul çantası ile. Veya futbol maçında. Onun dışında pek görmezsin.
And pavements ....
She has made a video as a feedback how she has experienced her stay in some country and Turkish people all are offended!! I feel bad for them I really do. Actually she should add the 6th fact : There is no country like Turkey that people hate each other so much; in Australia also, though people from all countries are happy to see mates from their own country but Turkish people are THE only race that hate to meet each other.
Why would u think turkey wants to be in the EU . And what u said about people drinking to be in the EU just sounds ridiculous honestly.
We never let Turkey join EU and won't.
Agnès Liam "we"? who the hell are you?
We'll going to join EU,with our army.Would u want to know that what'll happen when we join EU with our army?? hahahahaha
According to latest public research, %65-70 of Turkish citizens refuse to join EU.
Kalender Adam what the fuck man that sounds like we want to join the damn EU and sounds very narcissistic even though we really have nothing to be narcissistic about
Jesus Christ, we don’t drink to get into the EU. You’re being very narrow minded.
One Shot Man she implied it baby boy
ooo baby boy hemi :) numaranı ver görüşelim böbeem
One Shot Man noldu, birden argümanından vazgeçtin? :(
Kadının demeye çalıştığına da gelirsek, şöyle bişey diyor;
1: People are patriotic because literally NOONE ELSE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, likes turks.
2: Yeah old people tend to hang out together.
3: Çiğ means not cooked. It is originally made with a lot of hot pepper and raw meat.
4: If you are not walking like an idiot, you wont die. But yeah, sidewalks are problematic.
5: Turkish people love drinking. And its a secular country. Noone can force their religion on anyone
we dont drink to be in EU. actually TR has given up on Eu long ago.
Dont't be an idiot with such prejudices.
Hahaha, "if you are not an idiot, you won't die". That sums up turkish attitudes about health and safety regulations. Definitely a different mentality.
and please don't block Wikipedia (!! wow!!) as you already have lots of other reasons for being very unique as you commented.
Agnès Liam We are not the ones who block Wikipedia, you think we like it?Seriously you are so wrong about Turkey
saçma salak akpli aforizmalarını git başka yere sıç... sıçarken de kendi adına yap..
Problem is you voted Erdogan, not us and he wants to expand," The Turkey of his heart" , or lets say restore previous Ottoman border. So what do you expect? To say ,Welcome we just give you all of our country because you like it.If we think the same way, the borders of our heart, is the whole Turkey. As for the secular, it's gone. Now Turkey is an Islamic "pseudo-republic".More of a dictatorship than a republic. We want a neighbor that respects the borders and the international treaties. We want more than everyone and we support more than everyone a Europen democratic Turkey, member of the EU. (Check all the decisions in EU commities) But you guys go totally on the other side, something like "self-destruction".There are so many good turkish people, and we like them believe it or not, but we hate the provocations from your government. All your media are controled and they tell you, that supposedly, we provoke you, but it's FAKE NEWS.By the way many of you are Greeks and Armenians but you became muslims, we see so many DNA tests that show 40 to 50% Greek dna, that's why we look the same.So you said that everyone hates you, but that's not true. You have to find the problem to those who rule your country.
The whole call to prayer and alcohol thing is stupid. In the west you have alcohol and yet you hear church bells. A country doesnt have to be one or the other. being a secular country means to each their own.
Muslims are predominantly non drinkers, but Christians drink, that's the point
Actually there are a lot of christians who don't drink. Plus, there are a lot of muslims who drink Turkey is a proof of that. Even in other muslim countries where drinking in public is prohibited majority of people drink privately. My point is that there is nothing strange about it. People are different regardless of religion.
N V I didn't say All Christians drink or all Muslims don't drink-Key word used is 'Predominant'- the dominant factions of Muslims are non drinkers and the dominant factions of Christians are drinkers. You said majority of people within Muslim majority states drink privately, that is absolute rubbish, only a minority drink, most of which are the least religious folk. For most people It is much more strange to see Muslims drinking than Christians only because Islam forbids alcohol unlike Christianity which goes as far in offering it in Church services.
T Ceraa everybody doesnt have to follow quran meticulously as the book itself has contradiction in its own many times
T Ceraa It was written by Mohammad in assistance of a Christian priest by the way which taught him the bible and talmud
We're secular country...
Alcohol is sin in Islam. But the sin is personally thing...
Sin is between God and Myself... Other people can't say anything :)
the different between arabs and turks
Well this sounds like double standards my friend.
Muazzam Slm what he means is, you don't/shouldn't intervene in anyone's beliefs. Even if you think what they're doing is a sin. Cuz the person drinking may not even be a Muslim and you must respect their decision. That's what Islam tells its believers to do.
She has made a video as a feedback how she has experienced her stay in some country and Turkish people all are offended!! I feel bad for them I really do. "We're secular country..." by blocking wikipedia and killing 1.5 million armenians
1. the date of your video is october 31th.. october 29th is the most important national holiday in turkey.. that is when the republic was founded.. it is like the 4th of july in america..
2. those places you see men are traditionally called "kahvehane" literally meaning "coffee house".. and that is not strange at all.. they are like cigar clubs, golf clubs or pubs in western culture.. i am sure every culture has its own version of those places..
3. "cig kofte" means "raw kofte" and originally it is made from raw meat, "cooked" by the very hot spices and the acidic content put in it.. i guess nowadays the raw meat version cannot be sold on streets because of the EU regulations.. and it is preferred because it is a lot cheaper without meat..
4. the pavements show how turkish mind works..
5. that is not strange, that is something to be appreciated and supported.. that is how turkey has been for the last hundred years..
thanks for an honest comment and not a defensive argumentative one
We don't drink in order of being accepted into the EU lol. Its just Turks are thought and marked as any other ethnicity within the Middle East when it isn't. Our culture, lifestyle, everyday stuff is much more different than many nations who have Islam as their main belief system.
Hence being a Secular Country. Its more better to say Anatolia as a whole for Turkey but yeah Eur-Asia can be said as well.
It's pretty much the same shit as Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan.
Well Turkic Countries all have more or less the same traditions and belief systems just some of them are still part of the old USSR mainframe. But yeah only religion differs around us or Russia/Turkey/Azerbaijan/Kazakistan etc all have a similar approach to lifestyle.
Tհε Hսռ Tսгĸ ozbekistan/kırgıziztan/turkmenistan ;)
Atatürkçu Gençlik Aynen Kardeşim kısasası için öyle dedim
Tհε Hսռ Tսгĸ tahmin ermistim tam bilgi olsun dedim ;))
Not every turk is muslim/ strictly religious. It's not about trying to be western or be in the eu at all!!! Everybody can do what they want...
We never let Turkey join EU and won't.
Good for you.
Turkey is secular country. That's why they can drink their beers and wines.
Blacked d not fully secular country. Some cities are secular in anatolia generally but if you can go to izmir you cant see anything with secular
Blacked d efes is best beer in the world and make in Turkey:)
not vodkas?
has WOTCU İzmir is the most secular place in Turkey. Aka Pompeii of Turkey
Alcohol is haram haram :')
2) retired men most of the time play in "cafes" as they call it to discuss soccer, stuff that has happened during the week in the neighborhood and so on. Women also have a similar thing called altin gunu where as women meet together in someones house and they interchange it per day with another household (of course the groups are smaller). This to strengthen the bond they have founded earlier on. Ofcourse that doesn't mean that there are people just wasting their time as well. Not anything out of abundance and limit will do any good in the long run
Very well explained..and i can vouch for everything you said.I lived there as refugee from Bosnia for 2 and half years.Hospitality of turkish people is amazing..food is amazing.I am in love with that country. To bad i was not old enough to stay at that time but i can not wait to go back.I miss everything about that country even imperfections. Thank you for sharing your story!
Lets say 5 interesting things rather than strange :)
Kore'de Hayat Bir an fake hesaptır dedim ama senin hesabınmış abi lhdjlhxş
nah.. it's strange
@@rand0m0mg no u! Lol
I’m sorry but i find this very prejudiced. I mean the way you explain things and the way look at them seems a bit biased. Or you didn’t really know about the culture at all and just judged the things you saw.
I totally agree
yes she is not very bright she only see things from her eyes the holes in the street were ones that are going to be repaired any one with would know that just by looking at them, call to pray and beer please it is turky not iran, and last the flag what is wrong about loving your country everyone should love there countryand be proud of it
Turkey seni seviyorum!
Eleonora R Biz de seni seviyoruz :)
I have been going to Turkey for 30 years and have always enjoyed the beauty of the country and the warm welcome by the people . Yes I love Turkey too !
Bende Türkiye’yi çok seviyorum!
Bu kız heryerde türk dna sı yok diyen bir kız.tirk yok.türkiye türk değil diyen bir kız.burda ise seviyorum demiş.tutarlı değil.
1) I've actually heard the exact same comments from a friend of mine who went to the USA.
2) Those are retired Turks who don't have to do anything all day long. Or are unemployed (so, also don't do anything all day long). The women are probably either in the kitchen (not being a sexist), cleaning the house, shopping or to their friends, because they for example have a 'gün' (which literally translated means 'a day'). A gün is a gathering of Turkish women (usually 5-10) who come together to eat, talk, and pay each other some money (basically a form of saving money). Every person pays a certain amount (for example 50 liras) everytime there is a gün. So when it's your turn, you have a big chunk of money.
3) If you don't like meat, you can also try "mercimek köftesi" which is basically the same, but it's made with (red) lentil.
4) That's why many Turks walk on the main road instead of on the pavements. :P
5) This is an issue that bothers the Islamic party running Turkey at the moment a lot. That's why you can't purchase alcohol in the supermarkets anymore after 22:00. And there is extreme taxation on alcohol. If you purchase beer 60% of the price exists out of taxes. And if you purchase Turkish Raki, the price exists for 70% of taxes. That's why Turkish Raki (Yeni Raki) in Europe is half the price of Turkish Raki in Turkey. It's pretty ridiculous IMO. Because at the end of the day, tourists also come to Turkey to drink.
Greatest country in da world!’ Turkiye..❤️
In Turkey though they are Muslim, Turkey doesn’t base their entire country all on their religious beliefs like Iran does. Their religion is important but religion isn’t everything and they understand that.
Great vid. Nice explanation.
Loves from Turkey ;)
Love Turkey❤ from Pakistan 💚
You love Turkey probably because it is the 71th country on Earth and Pakistan is 147th. See hdr.undp.org/en/composite/HDI but it is too far less developed country for us to let it join EU. Their culture is worse than their Middle East neighbors like Iran or Georgia.
This video and the attitude is kind of offensive
Ugur Kendi ülkesi de müslüman ama modern olmadığı için kıskanmış bence
Ugur no sense of humour !!!!!
I didn't find it offensive. She's not crazy about Turkey, but the video was fair. Plus she says nice things.
Ashjdfkgh bu nasıl gömmek ya :)
Bilenip gelmiş :D Eski oda arkadaşımı görüyorum resmen. Çok İranlı tanıdım da böylesi de var tek tük.
turkey is a beautiful country with lots of different cultures mixed together over the centuries. it's not asian, european or middle-eastern. we call it "anatolian". don't let the media or the turkish government to distract your opinion on turkey. we have the religious people and the non-religious people mixed together and living in such peace that you couldn't see in other countries. of course, some people are narrow-minded but they are the minority in here. the majority of people respects eachother and their lifestyle. not just one ethnic group lives in turkey, you couldn't count them. turks, kurds, zazas etc. all live peacefully together. terrorism is a thing but that doesn't effect the brothership between these ethnic groups. if you're thinking about visiting turkey but you have some doubts in your mind, don't worry... turkish people are very kind, secular and we love to see tourist from other countries. also, turkey is like a heaven on earth that has lots of nature beauties. if you have the chance to come to turkey, don't miss it. you'll not regret your visit...
EuroAsia...Stanbul Turkey!one of the most beautiful place on earth i visited....
In Iran, people drink alcohol or smoke drug / narcotic secretly. Especially, in Yazd and Kerman , people smoke or use drugs. In Tehran or even Mashad you can buy alcohol secretly from blackmarket so...
Hasmet Doganci if its secretly from blackmarket thats mean illegal
these blackmarkets, what it looks like? can you post a pic?
Çiğ köfte is made with Bulghur (so it is close to rice) and it is raw meatballs because up until about 10 years ago it was made with raw cow meat but then health regulations came through and banned the whole raw meat handling. They replaced it with lentil and it still tastes pretty good or similar, because in order to cure the meat it had a ton of spices to sort of cook the meat and make sure it’s not so dangerous. Kind of like a beef tartare. When I make it at home I still use ground beef. Cheers.
Oh the regulations are only on the raw meat handling, clearly not on sidewalk standards just yet :)
Interesting, thank you for sharing :)
I loved Istanbul. I went as an American Christian. It was utterly spiritual to be in Old Istanbul. I was treated extremely well by everybody. Even the local mosque gave me permission to pray there. Two years after my visit, I converted to Islam. I dream to go again as a Muslim. From Texas, with love.
This is the first time I see your VLOG and it was crrtainly interesting, however I couldnt help to notice your beautiful eyes and I admit that you definitely generate warmth and kindness
Nothing wrong with being proud of your flag..
It’s not strange... it’s interesting... Turkey is awesome 👏🏻 and better than UK
Nice dear. My next vacation will be to turkey hopefully
That's great, make sure to try the baklava and turkish delight :)
GoodThinkingTV thanks once again and I would request you to visit Pakistan again. Please visit Northern pakistan. Skardu and chitral.
Insallah, bu as always boycot yahudi regime
think twice
Nice loving people and weather is excellent
Thank You for the great Video!
The meaning of "çiğ köfte" is "raw köfte" aka uncooked and it also contains raw meat in general :) however donno if those places are allowed to sell the raw meat çiğ köfte, but the real çiğ köfte people make at home is with raw meat, so you might have eaten raw meat köfte:) yummy. We have also have cooked köfte, but çiğ köfte is more like an appetizer or late evening food.
altough if it's isn't raw, made of 'bulgur' it's still yummy
and I have to add, it says raw in its name but don't worry, its not like sushi. It gets cooked with flavours in it.
Actually the raw meat is banned years ago and it is made of something like rice and u cant find anywhere to eat it with raw meat and logically speaking meat is expensive they wont put it in ''cig kofte'' :)
Batuhan lütoğlu ur wrong mate. I eat çigköfte oftenly and I eat the raw-meat one. They are delicious and I can find them everywhere in Samsun.
Well that's gross. Only uncivilized people eat raw meats :(
I am currently in a Reformed Catholic school, but you can often see Turkish girls with hijabs walking around, and neither side makes a problem out of eachother, just because of how liberal both are. Quite a nice sight if you think about it
That's great to hear :)
oh my sweet summer child I wish if it were that simple. If you read some of the turkish comments here you would see the severity of the situation. We do not get along , not even one bit. It may look like we are getting along(honestly I can't fathom how do people draw that conclusion) but in reality we would be at each others throat if given the chance. Popularists or firm believers of islam in the country you might say hold VERY different opinions and their numbers is not something can be brushed off. If you ask me I can't even recognize the country I've born into.
National wealth my ass , what about you grab a fucking book and try to read it. Go read the early republic era, see the demographics.
All I hear you saying is that. Haha we didnt want to live in the country you have built and we have taken it away from you and we are going to islamize it in our vision and in this case somehow my voices of concern are not justified. Woah buddy, careful with that mental gymnasitcs of yours , you seem to have your head up your ass. Turkey was never liberal come the fuck on. All AKP did was idenity politcs and popularism , we were never people who leaned LEFT ever. You obviously need to draw the line somewhere. Ad hominems and creating conflicts are easy , recognizing the problem and solving it is the hard way. Sure I could say the rural villagers are ignorant fools that have doomed us all via demogogary but it won't change the fact that they actually did this. You all have a smartphone on your hand and we are having a english discussion here without completely swearing at each other. So what do you think ? Isn't ignorance a choice in the age of information. We all have internet and the internet has so much information from both point of views that you can learn and adapt and synthesize a way for people of turkey to forge forward.
It was never about religion , I'll say it to you frankly I am an atheist but I adore faith and religion. HOWEVER , virtue signaling and making the people adapt and follow yours or anyones faith is beyond me. If I were to believe in God , I wouldn't just make it a societal issue. Its between me and God , no?
Moreover, our history books that are in the ciriculum often only hightlight ottoman and islamic side of the history. They just glimpse into early Turkic tribes or early anatolian civilazations. Like you know, Rome , Alexander , other hellens and many more. These things are not trival and tunnel visioning into islam and neo ottomanism is not going to take you anywhere. You need to understand , this country wasnt build on that premise. Sure the CHP and other seculars might have completely understood Ataturk wrong but this doesn't require the rest to follow in their footsteps and double down only resulting in the destruction of this nation. Remember , Ottomans and many others have passed. Anatolia have seen every kind of shit there is and its people were able to come to this day. Let go of your black and white sides and think of the future for a second. Live and let live , balance in all aspects. Any less and we will relive 1960s and I hope you remember what was that like.
Just like you are not letting go of your path and desires , why should we let go of ours? The more you try to justify your cause against ours , you won't find understanding or ears that are listening. You will only find reaction , anger and hatred. Because believe it or not , we too have aspirations , desires and a vision.
you made this video with so superficial and many missing informations.
Nice video. Thanks for expressing your views. When it comes to Turkey, I think a lot of us are quite passionate (and defensive) which could lead to some people misinterpreting what you say. You were bang on about how Turkey is so unique in regards to religion and the various ways people there live their lives. I love that aspect of it too. 😀
Thanks for the kind comment, I don't think I said anything critical, I was simply pointing out my observations after visiting many places, particularly Muslim countries.
@@goodthinkingtv Exactly. You are also fortunate to have visited so many countries (particularly muslim) and to have lived in a western country which most cannot relate to, hence why some people may be on the defensive ( the language barrier has a role too). Thanks again. Good of you to share your views - much appreciated.
By the way, everytime I visit a foreign country I see very interesting things that seem different to me, and I just admire them. I think about the interensting cultural things and see their beauty, and just feel blessed. I never call them “strange” because that does not even make sense. I just feel blessed to witness the beautiful diversity around the world. So I really don’t understand your attitude.
Turkish Delight....bring me some home when you next go.....
Yum! I have a video about that! I tried the best baklava and turkish delight in Istanbul!
It's delicious, hits the taste buds, gives a great sensation and very filling. Whats the link to the video and please bring me some home.
I want to visit Turkey again just for the baklava and delight lul
I from turkey I want to explain why there is flag every because of the mean of the flag after the ottoman empire fall, republic of turkey was released during word War and meaning of the red part people who died for their country's freedom this red part symbol of their blod. And east part of turkey there are teror activities and during this action people die because of we want to respect them we put flag everywhere but I agree you holes
Osmanlıdada sancak aynıydı be kardeşim 1844 den berri bu sancak kullanılıyor.
you donot need to explain why your flag is up, your people fought a long hard war to gain your freedom from others that wanted your land, and your people bult a great country one should be proud of that and love it show the flag
Very nice video. As a turk this is what I am proud of..mix of culture, tradations, everything together in Turkey.
I enjoyed you observation since i'm (Jordanian) and just settled in turkey, regarding number 5.
I've lived my entire life in Jordan, completed my bachelor in Egypt, been multiple times to Alhejaz (Saudia arabia correct name), the thing is, apart from having masijds in all countries, and perfoming prayer 5 times a day, following the same Quran, their faith seems very different, and my theory is that it all comes back to the way Islam was taught and from where it was acquired individually, also since islam is in arabic, it's harder for Turkish people to learn about it.
never the less, turkish people are one of the best i've dealt with, since they have the best part of Islam, Ethics.
appologies for the poor way of writing this comment, but this is a huge topic and couldn't dorm it into a small paragraph.
Where you from ?
Moon ?
I thought she was from heaven such beauty.
armenian
Bora Bora half is irann
pakistan..
Good one😂
Sorry but you are not out much if these are strange to you everyday the bells ringing for church while people all over europe are taking the most drugs and alcohol at 10am lol
Bell only rings on Sundays and churches are not in every square foot, unlike Turkey, where mosques are everywhere.
I never heard a bell on a daily basis in a capital city in europe. not even on small cities. in most countries in europe bells only ring on very few occasions, OR in very small rural areas.
Biz o bayrak için canımızı feda ederiz.
The obstacles on the pavements in Ankara!!! They make me crazy, good point.
I understand flags thing. In UK people get offended by seeing UK flags in everywhere.
Yes, exactly
What why? I don't understand how's that offensive
Because in Turkey racism and fascism is a thing to be proud of. In the UK is just the opposite.
I didn't know that! Its so strange! Why showing your own flag counting as racism? Its your land its your right to show your own flag.
6. Strange thing in Turkey is strange tourists like you visit Turkey and make strange videos like this🤡
i wonder what would be of Turkey if it didn't have tourists...
actually a country where people really suck up the tourists . don't be so proud cause you really relly on tourism a lot.
to even mentioning the emigration rate from Turkey to the western countries like hers, which you criticizing right now. ekranın arkasında eleştirmek kolay
Girl I'm Turkish here is the answer for number 5 Some people in turkey are Christian and that's why don't ban alcohol I'm turkish and I'm non religious and we do celebrate chrismas Poeple in the west we have christain culture too.. We used to be 96% christain in the roman empire!
Turks are born patriotic 🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
2:21 that's a normal cafe in Turkey!
thats not a normal cafe that is kahve or kahvehane or kıraathane. cafes are different and usually full of both men and women.
Those huge beer things are called Biraver which is wordplay of 2 words, bira (beer) & beraber (together) :)
Also they are really cheap. 99% of high school students from Istanbul's Kadikoy district is introduced to booze culture with biraver :D
By the way, you kinda sound like you have a slight Turkish accent yourself :D
it has nothing to do with beraber. it's alluding to "semaver".
I'm Turkish but i don't know what the hell means Biraver tf
Berk, whoever is serving those things to high school students is breaking the law
+memed bengul Holy crap, my whole life has been a lie :D :D Thanks for clearing it.
+Tekin Sal It's just alcohol, not cocaine. Get over it, kids should be taught how to handle their booze from a young age because it's an important skill to have in business.
Chi(Cig) Kofte is made of Bulgur(cracked wheat-not lentil), minced meat, vegetable paste(tomato, pepper) and several spices. Forgive me if I missed an ingredient.
I'm Canadian living in Canada and I can't wait to one day visit Turkey. It's a dream of mine
5th one wasnt really strange
strange for muslim who never went out of his country.
One day Nasreddin Hoca gets caught by the imam of the village while producing wine, and this what he responds as an excuse "All I did was to put the grapes in the barrel, I swear Allah did the rest".
If there are any people who didn't get the context, imam is a preacher of Islam, basically the same as a priest. Nasreddin is a male name and hoca means the one who teaches. Nasreddin Hoca is actually a real life philosopher that lived in time of Ottoman Empire. There are many little sketches that portrays him which are sometimes humorous and sometimes cynical.
Safety things i agree with u. we are little bit behind but we are learning 😀
Indeed turks are Patriots
long Live the Turks long live turkey
Blessed be their beloved nation
❤️🇹🇷❤️
These obstacles are made to make people lose weight when they walk haha.
You know extra exercise ;p
lol makes sense :)
All jokes aside, In turkey the past 5 years the government has been working on making all houses that had no gas before get gas by building pipelines underground because before people were warming up with Soba(Heating stove) but now almost all houses have a radiator now wich is required to boil the water in the radiator with gas and stuff like that with the cold/hot water. 5 - 8 years ago only the rich people had acces to gas to their homes but now the government is trying to make sure everyone has it. Also before 2002 and after 2002 The turkish government didn't plan and build but just builded to build if you know what i mean. i used to live in netherland before moving to Turkey. In netherland when there is a project they plan it for litteraly 20 - 30 years ahead just incase there might be changes made to it and than build. but Turkey is now slowly adapting to that style of architectural designs. because of that bad habbit there is now obstacels on the side walks haha. if the people actualy cared and reported it to the government they would get it fixed but the Turkish people simply dont care about it pretty much ;)
havent saw one
I love turkey!! i adore turkey!! i resppect turkey!!
HUH!! NOTHING IS STRANGE ABOUT TURKEY!
I LOVE TURKEY!!
#FromPakistan!
everyone in Turkey is free, every kind of people lives in Turkey freely
agree with u....
5. That has nothing to do with beeing liberal or tolerant or something like that. It's simple, you are overthinking it. Those People with alcohol are just not religious, and the religious People would not drink alcohol. Its simple as that.
exactly...majority doesn't drink.
it's not a liberal or conservative thing, really. If you drink, you drink. Has nothing to do with anything else. Not even mindsets.
those caffe places are where old men run away to from their wives sometimes lol xD i knew an old man living in my apartment when i was staying in ankara and he used to run away to the local caffe when he had an argument with his wife xD
when you looked at there and asked "where are their wives" it made me laugh :D
Awww.....lol
Wawoooo ...interesting....good information 👍
Additional info about çiğ köfte which is a south eastern turkish cuisine and actually it is orginally made with raw meat however now it is meatless because of the health concerns. You can find çiğ köfte (actually with raw meat) in southeastern part of turkey especially homemade
she sounds like an awfully spoiled traveler. such a naive and un-globalized perspective on a culture she is unfamiliar with.
People who are offended by her thinking that Turkey is not secular; what would you think? By now secularism is just in paper. People do judge, look down upon to things you do that is not accepted by Islam. Religion IS pushed upon people. You could call Turkey liberal if it was actually ruled by a Teocatic system. I mean how much time do we have until Reis becomes sultan?
Bcoz our flag is beautiful 😍😍
Mosques in Turkey have the best sound system in this country :D. That is why you can hear it everywhere. Also mosque is almost on every corner in there. Not all the people are religious as well. They will claim themselves as a Muslims but that's it. I live in here for almost 4 years, and most of my friends, and family (young ones) is not very religious. And Cig Kofte? I love it! I'm Polish, we don't have food like that in Poland but i fell in love with it.
Chi kofte? WTF?! That's çiğ köfte. Simply spell cig kofte if you can but that was fucking hilarious bro😂
bizim sessiz harfleri nasıl söylesinler amk
Gevur Geldi! You're most likely speaking Turkish. I'm not turkish tho
those god awful sidewalks in Ankara, we joke about them all the time :)
and consuming alcohol shouldn't be too surprising given that most Turkish people actually embrace secularism in their core (except for some notorious cities in central anatolia and eastern black sea regions).
That doesn’t mean that we are patriotic we just love our country and our flag.
So do they go for pray after drinking alcohol?
Dear Turkey, These are things that I noticed about your country, they are not good or bad, it's just from my point of view as a foreigner to your land. And I said it from a positive point of view as my experience was great overall. So I don't understand why there are some unhappy people that comment nasty things. Very strange.
Also my Turkish friend encouraged me to make this video as he thought Turkish people would laugh about it, but I don't see the sense of humour in the comments that he was talking about.
Dear Turks* or Turkish people*, first of all, not dear "turkey".
The comments I see are , the people's opinion, and the "interesting" things they see in your video. Furthermore, since they bothered to comment productively, it is an input that you can learn from. They needn't spoon feed the point to you to be nice. Your observations mentioned here are quite useless for anybody that would want to learn something about the country, and presented in this...slight condescending manner. If it is not intentionally condescending, then you just have to be dumb. Pick one. It's like going to Egypt, and saying, "oh here is so cool so nice, and i see alot of trees, its so interesting cos its supposed to be desert here, but i see people planted trees to make it look like Europe, its so nice and modern of them." or going to Kenya and, "oh i see people eating food and not starving, so cool they wanna be like people in developed countries", anyway. This video simply deserves a dislike imo, try to pay attention to more useful shit next time you visit a country.
I agree with you about the flag thing. I always thought that, our people raise so many flags all over the country, it almost looks like we have just occupied those lands LOL :D
I don't get what are they trying to prove with hanging the flags on every single wall, window and balcony. Oh... and don't forget the cars.
GoodThinkingTV the problem is you're incredibly much egocentric that you talk and act like some kind of commissioner or authority of every subject you touch on. First, there are ppl who are not Turkish on the comments and whoever they are, people don't have to flatter your point of view always. oc some will disagree, some will agree with your points as in the comments already. You dont need to be pampered for your own opinions, right? still you make it sound like you're having an imaginary struggle with Turks, Turkey, Turkish ppl... only? How you address ppl as 'Dear Turkey'... This is smt to do for a 5 yo or so. There's only very few of them under there on the comments among the whole country.
I personally laughed my ass off on the side walk part. What am I supposed to do tho? Talk about in the comments how funny it is? I watched the video , gave it a like and passed on.
There are always gonna be people who will talk shit. But you should not get stuck with those or take those seriously/personal. You have 100k views , 1.1k likes and 900 comments. out of that 900 comments , how many talk shit exactly? Most just criticize you or compliment you. Which is normal if you are making a video about a country and things you consider strange while bringing your opinion about it.
We are social animals , we all have our own opinions and not everybody is gonna like your opinions and gonna have some sort of argument back to tell you how its wrong etc. It is up to you to decide on how to feel about them.
All in all , when looking at the reactions you got compared to views , I would consider your video a success .
By the way , few people in the comment section is not Turkey. You are not talking to a whole country nor does anybody here represent Turkey as a country.
Thank you, I really appreciate your comment. Usually I don't mind negative comments, but it bothered me because people totally misunderstood where I was coming from.
They are just different types of Köfte 😂 içli köfte/ çiğ köfte/ köfte....
Hey sis well done 👍🏻
I’m glad I’m half Turkish because I mean looK at these eyebrows,,, also fethiye is GORGEOUS
It'sLeyla :3 She is not Turkish lol.Turks have very mixed so it is not true to think they have full arched brows,i have sparse straight brows for example :)
why do you think it is weird to drink alcohol just because people are muslim?
Muslims don't drink alcohol silly...only non muslims would drink alcohol.
there are some rules in islam which many muslims dont do, then very few are muslims
Most Muslims I know, they don't drink alcohol..but even they do, they don't do it openly in public... and yes it's weird to see that especially in Muslim majority countries.
what is to hide? islam is between person and allah. nobody else can judge
Acaba nedeğğn, olum haram olduğundan olabilir mi acaba ha?
It is sad that you have a very narrow view. The strangest thing you have ever seen in a country is that while some people are drinking in the restaurants, some others are praying somewhere else... Wow. I think you need to go out of Middle East where people are under a huge pressure for religious. Go out to Europe or America and see the world, I guess.
you also make cig kofte from fine broken wheat you buy packet ready mixed spice ad lemon tomato puree put all in electric mixer
Çiğ köfte is made by grain wheat; seeds from the head of the plant. This is the ingredient of almost all the bread types in the middle east. So, technically çiğ köfte includes bread too :)
THANK YOU ATATÜRK ...
We never let Turkey join EU and won't.
WE ARE A POWERFUL COUNTRY AND YOU KNOW İT. EU İS NOT EFFECTİVE LOTS OF THİNGS ANYMORE. SO TURKEY DOES NOT NEED THE EU. ÇATLA JFUHDF
Well the cities you went to(Ankara,Istanbul and Edrine) are by far the most developed in Turkey, so it didn't surprise me when you saw a lot of People drinking alcohol, but if you go to cities in Central Anatolia or the Black sea Region you won't see this Kind of stuff because the People their are much more conservative.
Shanks and why should people that are conservative not be developed? theyre as developed as all the others. i think you mean the west is more liberal thinking than the east....
the highest rate of alcohol consumption in Turkey is in the central anatolian province of Konya...so nope... you can't stereotype this one either
konya needs a place like las vegas casinos. just think about that, those imposter people of konya would benefit from this idea and the country make billions of money from the people of whole middle east.
Hello, I've just came across this video and as a Turkish person I couldn't relate more :D I just wanted to say we're not a Muslim country. Yes, the BIG percentage of the society is Muslim but our government has NOT a religion so it makes us secular. Religion and especially Islam is important here but since we're secular, since we're not governed by Islam, it changes everything to those which you've experienced. Have a nice day!
how about kocaeli? can someone tell me about Kocaeli especially in Izmit?
And us drinking beer and wine!!! What is the problem? And you are comparing iran pakistan with Turkey??? In england church bells are ringing and people are drinking so what???
But drinking is not haram in christanism like islam!!!
You are a very good observer. You should visit İzmir as well. İzmir is the European life style of the country.
what is your back ground
Çiğ Köfte is actually supposed to contain raw meat, hence the name Çiğ meaning raw, however the health and food authorities decided that would bring a lot of problems in retail business so it's actually prohibited to use raw meat in these products. The producers try to compensate for the loss of taste with lots of spice and artificial flavorings.
in ramadan we drinking beer openly too. elhamdulillah.

One of the best country in the world. Anyone more than welcome no matter your religion or colour.
Turkey is a free country.. you can drink beer or you can pray in church or mosque. I mean you can be whoever you are in tukey ❤️ i live in ireland for 1 year and turkey has biggest freedom than Europe for me.. i love my country ❤️
Unfortunately, not everybody in turkey are the same, people drink wine, and fast
I personally went to Turkey a fair amount of times and I explored most of Istanbul and I didn’t notice any of the negative things you said. But I understand that it’s your personal opinion.
And I know from personal experience that any country in the world has a variety of different ways of entertainment and tourists’ destinations you just have to choose what you what you want to see. And ignore what you don’t.
Trust me when I say that it’ll make your trip ten times more enjoyable 👍🏻
Turkey is seculer contry and many nations live in Turkey
Buy the way ı agree Turkish people very patriotic
nothing wrong with people loving their nation, its very common, all over the world.
*I am glad that this girl is out of her bubble*
