It's really coming together so well! I'd avoid the rally flaps personally on a road car - depends on how they attach, but when I had them on a Mazda Presso years ago they were nothing but a pain on the road - always scraping over speed bumps and they just got scruffy looking very quickly so I ditched them. Also had some over-rider style ones factory fitted on my G6E-T, again, they would often scrape, and then they rubbed through the paint on the guards, so again I ditched them.
@@Beer_Dad1975 if I use them they'll be cut down super small, just extending past the body lines by 1 or 2cm. It may not work out, but I'll give it a shot.
She's not perfect, but will hopefully look pretty good once complete. I am the same to be honest, if you told me a few years ago that I'd be restoring a Magna in 2024 I'd have laughed for days.
@@MotoringBoxTV to be honest I prefer the prervious generation Magna in V6 form, but this special edition of the last generation really looks good as a sporty edition with all the body add ons. It's a nice shape, only let down by the taillights. Not ugly just could have been better.
Sean - search ZR1 Rock Guards, they don’t do one for the Magna, but I bought a set for my Ford Focus for the same reasons you have, stop the rocks and debris hitting the sides of the car. Worth using for inspiration for your plans.
Mate, going to all this trouble please buy yourself a couple of cheap fold out panel stands, as a painter myself I was cringing watching you lay the side skirts down on the garage floor. Also head to a carpet place and shout yourself a cheap decent sized matt to lay on whilst laying on the ground be good and comfy😂. Loving this build coming together👍
Great Video, good to see the Magna all coming together. Loved the last bit when the panic Alarm went off with keys in your pocket. 🤣That's happened to me few times. An when your toddler gets hold of the keys " That Magic red button of awe" It's the one they always go for🤣🤣
i had a TH that was one of my first cars and it was to this day the most reliable car I've ever owned. I owned it for about 8yrs and I could count on one hand the amount of oil changes it had. I was having a hard time with life at the time and couldn't afford to or know how to do oil changes in my early 20's and the car never let me down, not once. I'll always have a soft spot for Magnas because of that car.
Awesome to see the progress Sean, I suspect we are going to see a set of Evo Recaro's in the Magna's future ( we call them Diamantie's over the ditch ) Lovely to see your patience, persistence and determination paying off !!
Yes, that's what I was waiting for, no feeling sorry for yourself, was waiting for you to bounce back and wow how good is the car, this episode and you've got the pep back. You're back man!
The body & painters did a great Job Sean. Nothing & I mean nothing, can be worse than Holden seats. They used crap material & even when you clean them they look dirty. Any Holden seats that are in good nick, you're looking at $1000 plus & they are rare! This Ralliart is going to look mint when it's done. You'll have to start taking it to car shows for more content.
absolutely true about the Holden seats. The ones in my VZ are comfortable enough and the adjustable lumbar support is nice, but man is it hard to find even a low mileage Commodore where the right side bolstering on the drivers seat isn't completely fucked.
@@bksniperguyI bought my Vy with 150k a few years ago and the seats were mint all around. I’ve put on 40k and fucked the bolstering, it’s not too bad but I’m not happy about it lol.

Hi Sean, Im also Sean! Ive loved watching you work on this "now" beautiful example of a Ralliart, she's getting the attention she needs from good hands! Im a Magna enthusiast based in NSW, I own a sapphire blue Tj Sports Magna from 03 and she has seen a lot of attention and love too. Keep up the great work... looking forward to your next video! Cheers
I'm in the process of slowly doing a cosmetic restoration to my Magna, the replacement rear bumper needs repainting and I'll do it with lacquer clear over the base coat, but wet sanding and buffing will sort it out. The headlights on my 2000 TJ Magna Sports are the two piece parabolics and are made from glass, not plastic and the glass headlights never go cloudy. But the one piece headlights were introduced in 2001. I also noticed the hubcap on the wall in your garage seen at 8:10, it is from the TJ Magna Advance.

Well done on restoring this car. I live about 30-40 min south of you and I have three magna's in my estate. They have been trashed (smashed panels, miss matched panels, paint peeling and very bad exhausts) Good to see someone taking pride in them.
Can't stress how much I love your content brother it's always presented beautifully and with a great personality at the forefront. The cars are always nostalgic, Love the Ralliart series. We had a blue TJ sports in our family for quite a few years and made plenty of memories with that car. Lovely result, as I knew you'd not settle for less. When headlights lose their 'impact', the sunburn/fade on the plastic lenses is only half the issue. The chrome/reflective media that surrounds the bulb on the inside of the headlight unit is the other issue. As far as I know, there is no repair that addresses the inside of these sealed units. Perhaps an aftermarket or new OEM stock maybe the answer if they're still lacking. PS: I take photos when removing either parts with many connections, or parts I am not familiar with which has saved me time and frustration. I can't add money to that list as I dropped a brake rotor on my laptop which I was using to watch a 'how to' upload...... Take care mate, we are all keen to see the Black Beauty hit the street, regards Cameron, Sydney.
It's wild to see multiple concurrent Magna projects on RUclips right now.. there's this one and a RWD Magna conversion over on Pezomatic both very recent. Plus the Magna nut Rhys over on GREASE GARAGE always has something cooking. Loving it. Wasn't really expecting to see that! A great little piece of locally produced Australian motoring history. I owned a 2nd gen TS and a 3rd gen TL VR-X with a Quaife LSD (a small upgrade after side stepping the clutch at the drag strip destroyed the original lol), we had a pretty thriving "Australian Magna Club" and regular weekly social meetups locally plus a 40-50+ person strong national meetup in Adelaide one time! It's all pretty died down now, not just Magnas/380s obviously but even Mitsubishi as a brand is just a shell and all the cool cars are gone.. even the performance queen Evo is no longer made and Evos (once one of the obvious choices of performance car for the average person) are starting to become rare. It's crazy to see that transition in person, I guess similar to the old school Holdens and other cars of the 80s my Dad saw. It's strange because despite every manufacturer busy figuring out how to make Electric Vehicles a little too late, we have still been seeing all sorts of crazy performance versions of cars make it to Australian shores in the last 5 years.. like the i30 N. Tonnes of hot hatches. The new Nissan Z and Toyota Supra. Mitsubishi is a bit dead, though the performance combustion market is more alive than I expected for now.

With the mirrors Sean if you find it hard to get the old mirror out I have previously stuck the new mirror over the top of the old using thin automotive trim tape.
The new mirror glass actually has double sided tape pads already on the back of them, and I was trying to figure out why. Maybe that's what they're suggesting I do? I'll have to take a closer look to see if the old glass is easy or difficult to take out.
So stoked for ya Sean. I know it’s been a rough ride getting to this point but I’m sooo happy for you man. It’s looking a million bucks. Well done, Especially to H&H for all their effort. If you need anything hit me up. Cheers Mate, Pauly D
"De ja vu..." I was thinking that I should say that I've seen some good videos about cleaning a car's interior and even getting rid of cigarette smoke smell. Some Aussie bloke made them. He seemed to know what he was doing. Maybe you should look them up sometime. 😉
As always your dedication to detail is fantastic. Great to see this piece of Aussie automotive history getting the love it deserves. Nice bit of info about the seats, I suppose the bean counters at Mitsubishi head office had something to do with that.
I've always liked the Magna Ralliart, there's a red one not far from where I live in Sydney's west that looks straight, but like most red cars left outside in the weather the paint has faded and it's crying out for a respray.

I love watching your videos mate.
Glad you're back.
Such a relief to see it going back together!
A young person in rural SA has one, with a huge sticker on the bavk window that says "FAGNA"
That's what we used to call them BITD, but I guess that's considered "problematic" now.
If you've ever watched Initial D I was almost tempted to use the "Deja Vu" tune from that 😁
As always your dedication to detail is fantastic. Great to see this piece of Aussie automotive history getting the love it deserves. Nice bit of info about the seats, I suppose the bean counters at Mitsubishi head office had something to do with that.
So much work done by you on this car.
I've always liked the Magna Ralliart, there's a red one not far from where I live in Sydney's west that looks straight, but like most red cars left outside in the weather the paint has faded and it's crying out for a respray.
Thats looking mint bud.👌🏾👌🏾 I actually got goose bumps from this video, so happy too see it coming together. Well done mate cant wait for the next video. 👍👍👍
👍 Copied over from members upload:
Sean, I am so glad the Magna is headed in the right direction. Your dedication to making this the best Ralliart it can be on a budget is admirable. Well done to you Sir. 💖👌
