I love the way the game tries to trick you into thinking you’re a bad guy, and depending what you choose to do you can make it actually true- but by having faith that the demons are deceiving you and the lord is with you, you get the good ending. Super compelling concept

The jarring transitions between the simple 8-bit graphics to the rotoscoped closeups freak me out so much and I love it
What does "rotoscope" mean, exactly?
@@sneezebiscuits7239 it is an animation style. The animator draws over live action footage frame by frame to produce a realistic animation
I feel like they worked better in the first game, honestly. Sure, they're still kind of unsettling, but now that they're established as a facet of the game's style, you lose a lot of the shock value that was really prominent in the first scene where Amy rises up at the foot of the bed.
Mutant Octopus Id say keep it for the scenes with demonic entities (like the possessed Michael, the demon nun and whatever the hell that face bleeding thing in the sewers was) so you could keep the “Demonic Entities actively breaking the retraux visual medium” angle, but cut out the ones with humans (John waking up, stabbing himself with the key, the cultists stabbing you, the last scene of the Initiation ending).

Right? I think it may be my favorite part of the whole game, especially when you get to the more off-putting words the music goes away and the ambient noise begins.
Fucking with the viewer's perception like that is commonly done in psych horror, but very rarely done _well,_ and Airdorf totally nailed it.
I feel like it's a little too flashy, it could've easily just stopped after it talks to John directly instead of having a bunch of "ooh devil evil scary" thrown in after we already get the point. Up until that part it's perfect though!

I know I've obsessed way too much over Amnesia when I immediately recognize the name Hector David from it. But I don't know what you mean, I don't have much memory of this game but I don't remember it trying to be so over-the-top anywhere else.
I thought this game’s title was Mortis until last night; just goes to show how memorable of an audio clip *M O R T I S* is.

Also the distorted muffled noises of the monster makes it ten times scarier.
Cuz ur using ur imagining to fill the gaps. And imagining the 70s aesthetics plus the unnerving silence and colors makes it more creepy than Shitty looking textures
I don't think I've ever heard Vinny get legitimately freaked out by a game before. He did mention that he was scared by The Exorcist, and that's one of the movies that's amplified by how you perceive the idea of it.
Soma and Tattletail got him good here and there. The quieter he gets, the more tense he usually is.

He was unironically kinda spooked by Baldi's Basics when he played the original game jam version.

This game's theme seems to be similar in some ways to eternal darkness in the way that you don't even know if your character is sane or not, or if he's dreaming or not, while being surrounded by a world that calls him crazy and supernatural occurences that threaten the lives of everyone around them, and to be honest it's the sickest shit ever, I was not expecting to like this at all but the thematic and the narration just hit the spot for me, thank you for this game Airdorf.

You can't get much simpler graphically, and yet this game fills me with the deepest sense of terror. Enjoyed just as much as the first game.
I thought it was a huge improvement. Faith 3 is gonna be great if this is any indication.

I think the game on pillons got graphically simpler, and that the fnaf mini games kinda also did that if you're talking just graphics wise, but faith has some really good stuff to It, another game has something similar but It's played only with a shotgun, then I remember some other games like world of horror though I think this one's more complex, there's NES/Sega genesis games with heavy horror elements but they're less simple somehow while arguably less complex or effective

This game is great but I especially love the synthesized speech. It sounds amazing and it fits the atmosphere of the game really well IMO.

It does a really good job with the Atari/Apple ii style. I hesitate to call it NES-like because it's mostly sprites on a black background.
Airdorf, keep up the good work, Faith is such a good product. The story is compelling, and it holds some cards close to its chest BUT doesn't give that annoying feeling of having holes in it. The look of the game was such a strong choice, i never thought an atari-like would give me legit scares and such a strong sense of terror. The atmosphere and tension-building is artfully done, and even the length of each chapter is perfectly paced imo. So yeah, keep it up Airdorf! So excited for Chapter III
i dont know what the text-to-speech effect in this is called, but the fact that it sounds like theres some human emotion in it makes it even more unsettling and i love it

This game does a really good job using atmosphere to invoke dread. It's like The Shining meets The Exorcist.
I do wonder if between his upbringing and trauma from The Exorcist that this stuff shakes Vinny up a bit
Honestly, yeah it seems like it. He has so much somber seriousness in his voice sometimes when playing this. Sure he still cracks jokes, but it's rarely you see him so unnerved and enthralled as he is in this stream in particular. I'd probably say that's due to a combination of his upbringing and the game itself being extremely well made horror, though, rather than one or the other.
This is one of the few horror games that actually creeps me out, so it's probably also the game being a damn good horror game.

I remember Faith being one of my favorite streams on this channel, and I'm very glad the creator decided to make more. This whole game is eerie to the end with genuinely startling moments. Very good Halloween game

As much as I stay away from horror as much as possible, I admit I kinda managed to watch through this whole stream live, if only because that text-to-speech voice cracks me up
The sewer tunnel segment around 54 minutes in really struck me, I found myself thinking about how the character looked cute waddling around in the linear path before linking with the note read just before, our mc is quite literally defenceless if It wasn't for the fact he had faith and that the creatures play a game that he abide the rules of, every one shot kill is very much a reminder of that, he's a brave one, that and his faith are his greatest strenghs
I’m not crazy about some of the jump scares but man this game really knows how to be creepy

I kind of feel like this didn't need to be a game with a bunch of different parts but I'm fine with it, but I wish Michael would be more present in the story. I assume he's gonna be more significant later or something but he's the one I'm most interested in, especially after the "confession" part which I thought was really cool because you can totally recognize his voice! (unless it's not him in which case the dev needs to find more voices)
Also I love how most of these demons will destroy you the instant that they get a chance but then there's the one who's like "ohh don't move and I won't get ya!" and then just leaves. Having a second supposed "priest" was great too and I really like that we still don't know who John really is or isn't.
