I wonder how it felt back in the day when you were a composer and then Liszt would write a praphrase on stuff you have written. I know that Meyerbeer was extremely impressed with this Fantasy and felt very flattered.
I agree. But it's a matter of instrument. I also prefer Liszt's piano version of his B.A.C.H Fantasy and Fugue. Don't get me wrong his organ writing was genius and I like the instrument. It's just that it often stands in muddy church accoustics and so much of the details are lost if the organist is not very diligent with the registration of the stops.
@@Quotenwagnerianer True actually, I think that despite the two being keyboard instruments, the organ and piano need different musical treatment as they are different in the variety of textures they allow.
Great tricky to sight read but I managed. 4:36 very modern 😂 23:08 reminiscent of the chords in Hungarian rhapsody carnival at pest. 23:26 octaves in second Ballade when in the fable he's fighting the marmaris straits? The 25:14 Spanish rhapsody end. Then loads of stuff similar to the end of pictures at an exhibition mussorgsky?

glorious arrangement of that glorious work ....!
Was stark und gewaltig Harmonien!
Epic work.
Wow!
A triumph!
wow
I prefer this to Liszt's original version, it is more concise and omits some repetitive parts, especially in the Adagio.
Absolutely
