Grace the acolyte big issue is the story telling is horrible. The acolytes last episode felt like a big waste of time because literally nothing happened. And osha and mae are unlikable characters it has nothing to do that they are female is the way they were written. They flip flop at any flip of a coin.
Yeah terrible writing and the other problem - $180M budget, similar to House of the Dragon, but House of the Dragon has a longer runtime with the first 3 episodes than the whole season of Acolyte will manage to do. House of the Dragon also looks way more professional shot, better costumes, props, much better acting and of course the writing is 10 grades above the Acolyte. I really don't know where the $180M went on Acolyte, honestly disregarding acting and writing, the show looks like a CW production worth at best $15-20M in props, locations, quality of shooting. It just boggles my mind.

I think Universal pushing Wicked up a week instead of going head to head with Moana 2 shows that the studios feel like Disney is still the king of the hill, Disney just had to regain their footing and the rest of this years slate for them seems to be just as strong as Inside Out 2

I took my son to watch despicable me 4. He had a great time. I missed the last 15-20 minutes by falling asleep. From what I remember, the movie was all over the place with some laughs

Grace, Despicable Me 4 isn't that soft in the United States. Despicable Me 3 made less than $270 mill in the States. D4 has made over $100 mill already. It's guaranteed to be over $200 mill before the summer is over. And, as you said, this is mainly an overseas/international franchise. I think it can make a billion as long as its audience isn't cannibalized by Deadpool Wolverine or Inside out 2.

But Grace should mention that Despicable Me 4 is the 6th movie of the franchise (counting the two Minions movies) while Incredibles and Inside Out have only two movies each. By the time Inside Out 6 comes out, I suspect that Inside Out 6 will have less box office than Inside Out 2. Remember Despicable Me 2 earned $975.2 million at the world wide box office which is almost twice that of Despicable Me 1's $544.7 million. Inside Out 2's projected $1.4 billion (matching Barbie) is not quite twice as much as Inside Out 1's $850 million.
Inside out 2 wasn’t a return for Disney.. it was based on the success of the original and the love people have for it.. plus people found out Disney didn’t make it for an audience that doesn’t exist or create profit. So people went.

Saw maxxine today, literally the entire theater had 5 total plp and me no one had any consessions I can imagine thats a waste of $$ for them, especially if its a premium screen, idk if theaters would want to do this but I wouldnt be opposed to having even smaller screening rooms specifically designed for screening small niche movies like this and saving the standard and premium screens for more mainstream normal movies.
It’s why the haters of the the acolyte get lost on people because the diversity or feminism stuff they say is the issue of the show is like the least important issue of the show. If it would just be talked about on merit alone of quality or lack thereof, i would suspect people would be interested in what they’d have to say more.
I think sequels aren’t as a safe guarantee as studios think as it still has be as good as the first or even better. Inside Out 2 took 9 years but it was worth it for that right story to be made. Despicable Me 4 seems like it has run its course and its not exiting as it once was. Illumination needs to expand their portfolio and maybe start having adult animated films as well, Spiderverse shown that it can work if done right.

There were a couple early showings of _Fly Me to the Moon,_ this weekend, but it's not out until Thursday the 11th.
I felt Maxxxine was very tame compared to Pearl where Goth gave an Oscar performance. Still a solid trilogy and enjoyed it.
Mia should have gotten a nom for Pearl. Her performance was up there with the best of that year!

Inside out 2 wasn’t a return for Disney.. it was based on the success of the original and the love people have for it.. plus people found out Disney didn’t make it for an audience that doesn’t exist or create profit. So people went.

Maniac was criminally underrated. I genuinely don't know why more people didn't watch it. Just a really well-crafted miniseries. Still one of mt favorite projects period.

Saw maxxine today, literally the entire theater had 5 total plp and me no one had any consessions I can imagine thats a waste of $$ for them, especially if its a premium screen, idk if theaters would want to do this but I wouldnt be opposed to having even smaller screening rooms specifically designed for screening small niche movies like this and saving the standard and premium screens for more mainstream normal movies.

It’s why the haters of the the acolyte get lost on people because the diversity or feminism stuff they say is the issue of the show is like the least important issue of the show. If it would just be talked about on merit alone of quality or lack thereof, i would suspect people would be interested in what they’d have to say more.
I think sequels aren’t as a safe guarantee as studios think as it still has be as good as the first or even better. Inside Out 2 took 9 years but it was worth it for that right story to be made. Despicable Me 4 seems like it has run its course and its not exiting as it once was. Illumination needs to expand their portfolio and maybe start having adult animated films as well, Spiderverse shown that it can work if done right.
I enjoyed Horizon. Solid film.

I saw Maxxxine and it was good! I throughly enjoyed the film and could see myself buying it to watch again.
I think long legs will have a surprisingly strong opening this coming weekend, gaining a lot of hype
But also Maxxxine is a micro budget production made for only $2M! So it’s already a pretty impactful opening
The biggest problem with The Acolyte was NOT that it was a ‘feminist show.’ Its biggest problem was the writing was atrocious and filled with a high level of plot holes.
