I've always done LED's in my cars over the years & the tech in them now is far better than when I first started using them. The problem with most cars is that you have to take off the front bumper to get to them so it makes sense to use LED's. Great video Sean to brighten up our world!
Ok, I use AUXITO T10 in my cars, I have used them for years, They are 6000K and Super White and canbus error free (very important), I have tried others and they dont even come close. They also come in Red and Yellow for your brakes and indicators. I wont use anything else after using them. I like them so much I bought multiples if one fails (The have never failed yet) I also use them in my headlights and they work fine, very rarely get flashed by other drivers (think I have been flashed twice in 5 years)
@@Cheato They sure do, just get the right ones for your car obviously. Some of their indicator globes have load resistors built in, so you won't need to wire any externally to avoid hyperflashing. If you get their pack of 10 T10s and your reverse lights take T15s, they'll fit too and are almost as bright as the proper T15 LEDs (at least the $10 360° 10-pack ones are).
I replaced most of the globes in my 1969 XT Fairmont and use a special flasher unit that can cope with the LEDS! They have been very reliable and take the load off my 53 year old wiring harness!
Did exactly this all blinkers headlights taillights reverse parkers etc all the inside is all upgraded 3 years ago and they are perfect as you mentioned makes your vehicle more modern
Hi Sean, Narva has released a indicator LED bulb P/No. 18272BL 12V BAU15s PY21W that Repco now sells which is CANBUS friendly so no resistor is needed. I’ve just installed them on my 2008 BF XR8 Falcon and they work perfectly 👍🏼 no hyper flashing issues. They are currently on sale for $50.40 for a set of 2 & the out of sale price is $63.00 As always I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. Regards, Matthew. 😎
LED upgrades are also one of my favourite mods. I’ve done every single light in my car, including the headlights (which are projectors), and I’ve even done little things like dash lights and the little red one above the ignition. And just thought I’d say this, I’ve done quite a bit of research on this; you technically _can_ get them to work well in reflectors. I’ve seen plenty that don’t blind others and have a decent light pattern, you just need to get the right LEDs.
@@RileysFilms Mine are from a company in Melbourne called Gemtek; I bought their 5000K LEDs from their eBay store and they're a nice, crisp, bright white. Auxito also have some that look good, although I personally haven't tried them before. Otherwise, what you want to look for is ones where the LED diodes mimic the size and position of the original halogen filaments as closely as possible. And if they're H4, make sure the low beam diodes have anti-glare shields under them (most do, but I have seen a couple that don't). Also be sure to stick to 2-sided designs that are as slim as possible. The ones I bought fit all of that perfectly. And as with any LED headlight upgrade, it's best to mark the original height on a wall and align the LEDs to match.
@@RileysFilms if you are still looking for some led headlight replacements try the stedi h4 led globes, i have them and their h1 globes in my 80 series and they work really well and they dont seem to blind oncoming traffic
I use t10 ceramic led bulbs to replace my dash backlights...these are good because you need a good 360° emission of light to prevent dark and bright spots.
I remember in the early 2000's, having to make my own LED reading lights for the back of my BA as they only came in white, and as my car was an ex police car, i wanted the blue light theme when the doors were opened. I've found the Narva CAN-BUS compatible LED's probably the best for the money, long life, very robust
Ive kept my AU with the old style t10 old glow effect. I wanted my au lights brighter to led but the car looks so much more nostalgic with the low dim orangey lights
I've had shit luck with the t10 leds I've used in my land cruiser as the park lights. They either die after a few weeks or give people epileptic fits when I drive by. Thanks for the video
lol i like the drive by effect almost worth it for that lol. You are right though if they are used on something used all the time they don't last long.
Nicely done, strangely my Lexus GS460 has all LED interior and licensed plate lights, even the taillights but the Parker's where still incandescent, rather noticeable compared to the HID Lows it comes with I got the Supercheap Narva branded T10 LEDs, looks a lot better no doubt, the HIDs are 4300k though so might swap those for 6000k when they die so they match the LEDs.
Yeah I have a GS460 too - it looks to me like the license plate lights are Lexus bespoke LED's. I haven't had a dig around in the taillights or the interior lights, but given it's a 12 year old car I kinda suspect if any of them fail, it's going to be a pain in the arse/expensive to fix as they are probably all using some bespoke Lexus/Toyota tech. Fingers crossed they have Lexus/Toyota longevity I guess! The HID's should give few problems I think, they were pretty common in high end vehicles by the late 00's.
The RC's had all LED apart form reversing lights so i changed mine to LED blue. They actually look purple at night now and handy as really bright. Interior they were all LED apart from the map lights which was an easy upgrade.
That’s because people putting led bulbs that doesn’t know what to buy for the headlights will blind others. Get the correct type of two sided led bulbs. With tiny led chips like SMD,CSP,ZES,flip chips, and Osram, and LMP led chips, that’s also a thing two sided body of the led bulbs, will work very well to mimic the same beam pattern as the oem halogen headlights. No matter if it’s projector or reflector. Some led bulbs with their led chips, make better beam pattern than others. Some of them work the best for projector than reflector, some others work better controlling the light better in reflector than projector. Some of them works very well for both, some don’t. Upgrading led bulbs on projector style or reflector style headlights is the way to go. DOT or not. It’s safer, brighter, better, see better and be seeing better. And with correct type of led, u will not blind others. @MotoringBox
Ditto for me, I got an eBay pack in 2014 when I got the Falcon and one of the map light LED's is dead and the drivers footwell would give you fits if you looked at it. I've already got all the external LED's with resistors in them except for the door mirror ones.
Well worth doing to the front indicators of the BA and BF a we know what a pain they are to change. As an astronomy nut they reminded me of different star (sun) types.
I did all the footwell dome and map lights as well as the boot and rear plate light haven't got into the glovebox yet. And could not replace the h1s on the front only the h4 lol they were expensive. I haven't got around to doing the rear reading lights as yet as there seems to be an electrical issue with them but plan to upgrade those as soon as I sort that out as well. I'll be glad when I get my next car but this ones been too reliable to pass up. So I keep her. Getting an Aurion at some point as well
i precer the warm incandescent tones, as a landescaper i need heaps of strobe lights for my au falcon and have gone for 100% halogen lights for all my beacons and flashers similar to period correct police cars, that's just my opinion though
I replaced my number plate light globes with LEDs but they failed in less than three years and I've put the twenty two year old globes back in. I've also seen a BA that had flashing number plate lights exactly the same thing my LEDs were doing
Great video Sean, I've had a heap of those cheap ones flickering in my Parker's(I think I bought a pack of 20 so I just kept swapping them out) Thanks for the info again, I'll order some of the ones you have suggested
Nice one. Lol yeah my falcon has the unreliable ones that fail very quick. One of them is flashing its very ordinary. Cheers mate just followed the link for type b and ordered some.👍👍👍😁
Modern flasher units use the bulb resistance as part of the RC circuit to determine flash duration cycle, as an added feature it lets you know when a bulb blows as the frequency increases. I am going replace the dodgy existing interior LED's my brother put in my car as bright white flashing is irritating at night. The bulb that works in both directions will have a bridge rectifier inline with input to make it universal.
Yeah, that was 'Bulb B' - I just ordered 30x more of them because they're awesome. Nice to be able to plug them in somewhere and not have to turn the power on to confirm if they're working.
I have been told that replacing original bulbs with LEDs may not be ADR compliant and this could be used against me later. Is someone pulling my leg ? Do I have nothing to worry about or should I just be even more careful in choosing my insurer?
I suppose it depends on the circumstances of the accident. If you had LED brake lights and they didn't light up and caused an accident, potentially. Every modification carries some level of risk in that regard.
Cheers mate. Sometimes the temperature in the sale listings don't really match up with what the bulbs end up looking like, so I was just estimating as to what they looked like to me.
Another great video mate. I did the upgrades to my ranger a couple of years ago including headlights but found LED low beam had everyone flashing me. Left it in for high beam though as i travel frequently at night. I’ve long thought though LED in both my AU XR headlights are just wrong and look wrong. Rather just stick to a ‘plus’ type Halogen and they seem to work even with the yellow looking beam.
Hey thanks for that I've only used the crap ones you showed at the start. Deffs buying a couple of the ones you reccomeneded. Hey for the boot and dome bulbs is there any better bulbs to use? Thanks mate
Had a look at the ebay listing for the Bulb B T10 you mention and the description they have for it says the bulb is rated at 6000k not 5000k and not to use as a number plate light or side light 🤔 advertised for $13.89 for 10pcs then has same set with same description on another listing with slight difference in the heading for $7.85 for 10pcs...these sellers will try to get u anyway they can. Good vid m8...
Thanks for letting me know, I'll link to that listing instead. The colour temperatures were just estimates - the first bulb is definitely a lot bluer. If you believe the colour temperatures on both listing you'd think both bulb options would look similar, but in fact they're quite different.
Most light bar's are around 5000k colour as to not put eye strain on the the human eyes when used for long periods of time Same with Factory fitted modern LED headlights.
