I wished you tested Auxito, a 1000 lumens reverse light with extreemely big heatsink. It helps a lot on my Corolla with poor 1 reverse light. I barely can see anything with the OEM bulb.
The shear amount of effort required for this is nuts. Thank you for going through all of this testing for us. You're killing it! Keep it up, Sergio. -Luis
I spent over a couple hundred dollars trying out various LED bulbs for my reversing lights. I failed to find one that was both blindingly bright and lasted more than 3 months. In the end I took a rubber grommet and rigged up a H1 headlight LED bulb that has a built-in heatsink with cooling fan. This has worked exceedingly well for the past 20 months and it is still working.
Did you also try bulb type R from this video? I have those on my BMW for reverse lights and while I do love the brightness and look of them…. There’s a part of me in the back of my mind that’s scared of it catching fire or something like that. Even if it’s on for a few seconds

Awesome video and great testing as always! Bulb R is really impressive considering the price. Just definitely would not use it for an always on application.
Great vid Segiu. very useful info. I’ve been running bulb R in my Octavia estate for over a year now in the indicators and reversing lights. Like you they don’t give any bulb warning on the dash. I also tried fitting them in my Merc Vito van, in that they DID give a bulb out warning :(

Great test... I use bulbs "H" as reversing lights and their orange version as turn lights for few years now, but will have to look around for bulbs "S" :)
I use a website call auto bulbs direct. Not sure if it’s just UK delivery but they have been the best LEDs I’ve used. It’s the brand Twenty20, great reliability, warranty & brightness. They do have the best for not causing error lights.
It is good to mention that OSRAM Bulb will have better light output just by using it on Reflector lamps due the LEDS are pointing directly to the reflector hence the Performance.
I have amber bulbs following the design of Bulb R They have a decoder of some sort which prevents the hyperflash. Very bright. As you said design doesn't allow for much heat dissipation but for turn signals I think it's perfect. Have used it for almost a year and so far no problems Maybe you should do a brake bulb standoff. The ones that have dual brightness. I notice a lot of these cheap bulbs, you can't properly differentiate between Running light and brake light. Sometimes the running light is brighter than incandescent but the brake isnt. Therefore reducing the difference between them.
With those cheap dual brightness bulbs, I always install a resistance for the low intensity to make something like 30/100 instead of 80/100 most of time
I used super bright LED that we use in signs. My reverse lights are brighter than the street lights. They are a group of three peel and stick and 12-24 volt DC
I'm using Bulb R for my park lights. Seems very fine and works well. But it does get hot maybe because the clear plastic or glass of the bulb turned blurry
I noticed a test you didn't try - polarity. Although most vehicles use the centre pin for +12V and the case for ground, some cars use the centre pin as ground. Bulbs will work on either polarity if they have an integrated full bridge rectifier, others are polarity sensitive and since you can't change the polarity on your socket you would be stuck with a product which does not work.
Appreciated. This is classic science fair project work. Nicely done as a reverse light, they are only on for 20-30 seconds tops and are an indicator to ppl behind you. Next item is how good did the throw light behind the car through the lens...

Excellent video, as always. When testing LEDs, could you please add a test to see if they’re dimmable? Interior lights especially tend to dim slowly and it would be great to know if these bulbs would allow for that effect. Not as relevant with this type of bulb but certainly many other types.
I had tried many of these. Some gave me errors because they are not CANBUS. I use them for the stop lights on Mercedes x166 GL 2013-2015. Bulb "R" was my favorite but I got tired of changing them as they start to slowly die out the LEDs on them go one by one then you get an died out error light on the dashboard. I had about 10 "R" bulbs. They all died! Got sick of changing them. Then I got the bulb "U" (1156 BA15S) from a branded maker on AliExpress not going to advertise them. They are still working over 1 year use as stop lights. I also havev reverse lights from this brand but a totally different fitmen T15 W16W. They are all CANBUS error free! Thanks for the video I was going to buy the OSRAM ones to check how they glow! Now I won't. I did buy D1S OSRAM Xenon for the head lights 6000K & 7000K. I like the 7000K with tinted head lights. Great video!
I tried bulb R in my Audi a4 b7 as the daytime running light. It lit up for a few secs and never again. Afterwards, i have been using bulb T for half a year, it does well but shows an error.
My Mitsubishi has pretty small reverse lights, so I wanted something that could focus all the light outwards instead of relying on the tiny reflector. So I went with a lens-style bulb with two Cree emitters, and they work well! It also has heat fins around the whole bulb so I was kind of dissapointed to not see it in this test. I think it could do well.

Slight issue with the used voltage though. Almost no car deliveres a full 14v at the light sockets. Wonder what the results are without overdriving all the lights. Try testing them at 12 and 11.5volts. Lots of old cars have hogh resistance in the looms. My 32 year old car is so bad, but with the led types its actually acceptable. Lower ampere draw helps a lot.
