If you really wanna have the „real-deal-fun“ with it, turn on the vintage mode, switch to monophonic and turn off EVERYTHING in the upper effects and modulation section (Why did you add this, aren't there enough effects out there, i mean, it's a EMS-Clone, a iconic synth, a holy grail, a sound machine that didn't need anything extra!!!). Sounds quit good after doing this, just the spring reverb is to short and subtle in comparison to my original AKS and the self-oscillation of the Filter could be more intense at max... and i'm afraid this won't be changed in an upcoming update 'cause it would let all the presets sound extremely different... but IF you do these 2 small enhancements this is really close to the original, so all i can do is hope and pray (to YOU! ;-))
what is the vintage mode doing specifically? i'm asking because you seem to know why these are good and i'm only interested in the more extreme places these were taken in the past--for example do the freq knobs really take things into the stratosphere?
@@amphitheatre Well, the vintage mode makes the pin-matrix „unbalaced„, like in the original, so when you add pins it changes the voltage of all the others, which means your osc. drift out of tune etc. It acts pretty authentic then, as long as you do everything i meantioned above. I have the original (EMS A in a lovely Spartanite + the KS sequenzer keyboard) for over 20 years so it's easy to compare... i don't know what you mean about „take into the stratosphere“, hmm; the osc freq.knobs act pretty authentic, so everything possible with the original is possible here too...i hope it helped. :-)
@@nonameforareason thanks for your response. must be amazing to have an original. what i meant by that was the high pitch fx you hear from the german guys like klaus schulze. it can indeed do those sounds (heard in another video).
@@amphitheatre Oh yes, the requency range is pretty the same, the sound of the oscilators is slightly different, but not much. The main differences are, as i mentioned above, the amount of self oscillation of the filter (a lot more intense and agressive in the original) and the length and sound of the spring reverb (a bit longer in the original)...and for absolute puristic/authentic sounds keep in mind tha the original has no sample and hold-module (it was sold as a separate unit), so if you wanna make authentic sounds of the synthi A; don't use it, the same for ALL the extras in the extra modulation and effects-section and polyphony...:-)
@@nonameforareason thanks..sounds as good as digital can get! arturia has been doing good things lately, now if only they'd make a farfisa synthorchestra plugin!
It's funny how these re-creations are so meticulously modeled and then augmented to the point where they bear almost no functional relationship to the original and (more disappointingly) sound nothing like the original. "We added all the things Roger Waters and Brian Eno wish they had had on their Synthi A... and now it sounds like the latest Korg Mega-Workstation!! You're gonna love it in your dance and hip hop tracks!" Man... fuck off.
How fantastic. Saves me selling my grandparents for a real one too :-)
How much for your grandparents though?
@@Rocinante01 Negotiable 🤣
Picked up v collection 7 on BF sale. And I have to say, this synth sounds incredible.
I have the Virtual arturia version and it sounds incredible too.
Just watched a making of Wish you Were Here documentary last weekend and Roger Waters specifically names the VCS3 !!
Had the original suitcase model (wish I still had it!) Looking forward to messing around with this versatile synth.
A great, great synth ! It's an amazing tool !
Looks like fun... wish it was on iOS!
Love modular stuff.
Great

PLEASE MAKE AN EMU EMULATOR II VST !!! ...IT WAS USED BY VANGELIS , ENIGMA , AND DEPECHE MODE AMONG MANY OTHERS ...
Did you uploaded by mistake, there’s no information on the website though 😊? thanks though 🙏
OH MY GOD !!! YES !!!
Does it imitate the Farfisa 300 VIP strings?
Starts off thin sounding and becomes a wall of sound

Man... fuck off.
Hopefully one day, one of these emulations will get made by someone who actually LIKES how the original items work and sound.
Stop solving non-problems.
The VCS3's lack of a sync delay was never a problem until you ass clowns decided it was.
I think you can turn all those extra functions off to maintain the original sound, like with their Mini V VST.
