Great that you have a photo of the van back in its service days.

It was water slide transfers and always crudely ground off before going to auction at end of PO service.

All commercial vehicles were supposed to have their trade particulars removed when transferring ownership!

Working as a young Post Office engineer in 1972, myself and a colleague, delivered 2 new Minor vans , K ' registered with consecutive number plates to a Telephone Exchange, they had recently become yellow after the dark green livery, and noticed on the one I was driving had different plates front and rear , the front one read SCE ---K ( correct ) and the rear SEC !.Calling the transport officer about the error , he replied ' Thank you old boy, you've saved me a lot of embarrasment - I will send you a book token for a £1 for your sharpness ' !.I know when the vans were sold , including the larger earlier J1 types they made peanuts !.They were always sold with the graphics removed so I'm not surprised there was no evidence under later paint .I still run a 2001 ex-BT MkV Escort in Diamond White and the shadow of the ' Pan ' logo on the side , occasionally in some light reveals itself !.

That's a terrific memory, a different world back then, removing the logos certainly explains our lack of success. These little vans must have so many tales to tell. 😃👍

I had GLU446C from 9/73 to 1/75. I believe it was green but repainted yellow whereas the previous year had been left green. I understood the decision to change colour was to make vehicles more visible in the country. Unfortunately the city received new vehicles first. My friend bought it for £50 from yard where many GPO vans sold in9/72. I still have gear knob.

@@jamespeatling7660 Yes James, remember the GLU -C series and it would certainly have been green from new .I started with Post Office Telephones in ' 65 from school , and the first one I went out in was GPO 616C and the area had several from before and after 616 .It is true it was intended to make the vehicles more visible in poor weather but also coincided with the change in name to ' Post Office Telecommunications ' in 1972 as part of modernisation scheme across the board. My 2001 diamond white MkV1 Escort from new was still grey underneath the bonnet from the ' Pan ' logo of BT.Pity of many of those £50 bargains weren't hidden away !.

Roger- thank you. I note at least three types of roof rack. Single ladder, double and aluminium.
I still have toolbox. Sadly I blew engine and no one would buy it for £25. I changed head gasket but did not have small hose for front of head so I split garden hose and double wrapped. Not good enough.

👋Hi there, first off thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment, Chris and I really do appreciate it. 😀The Morris belongs to Marc as Chris and I already own far too many projects and bits of car / bike as it is. 😆
Marc did a load to his Land rover this year as they fall apart as soon as you look away 😭, so the Moggie is next on his seemingly endless list of things to do next, so stay tuned as we will cover the stuff he does, obviously we will "help" or hinder him whenever we can as well.
As you have seen we have our love of cars and bikes spread over a lot of stuff, so we hope there is content for everyone so look out for upcoming videos 🤓👍👍

As an old cb er of the early 80's l was always on the look out for the 'buzby' detector van, just wasn't the same when cb radio made legal. Still got the old general electric cb. Nothing to do with your project, hey ho.

Used CB's back in the 90s going to car shows and later when we did some off roading, casually looking for a unit for the Dodge just for looks really, but may actually wire it in if I get one. 😃
