As an open mic one liner comic with around 200 gigs I can tell you that Stephen is a once in a generation genius. The material is nowhere near as important as how Stephen has crafted his persona. The delivery, pauses, expressions, timing and presence are brilliant. Crafting one line gags is very difficult but every word is relevant...like adding 'basic' to the stool gag giving it the perfect ending. For me, Stephen is up there with Stewart Francis and Gary Delaney and I wish him the success he deserves.

Some of these one liners are genius. Great comedian. And a perfect crowd to be honest, he even tells them they're mental and they laugh. Makes even better viewing.
And some of these one liners are stolen from both Steven Wright and Mitch Hedberg. He needs to stop using those jokes and stick to his own. It's not cool to steal other peoples jokes for laughs.
Exactly what I was thinking! Bleeding wackjobs were laughing everytime he paused for longer than half a second, I gave up half way through, they were doing my nut.
I have to say, the first time I ever seen this, I was in stitches. The jokes are funny but it’s his face and his delivery and the long pauses that makes it. 😂
@@joncampbell7297 I love laughing as well, but I only laugh as intensely as something is funny. What the guy means is that the crowd is laughing at a lot of the jokes a lot more intensely than the jokes are funny. A lot of them are "smile and blow air out your nose" funny, while the audience dies laughing at those jokes.
It takes a bloody good comedian to deliver lines like that, and this guys next level, he just looks so comfortable with it, IMO absolutely Stephen nailed it
I live how he does the set-up so well that everyone already gets the joke and starts laughing...then he calmly finishes the joke anyway and gets them laughing again.

Maybe it's just my current mood, but I found this just as hilarious as the crowd did. One or two of the jokes took a bit too much from Steven Wright, but otherwise, this was great.
One of the jokes was almost a word for word duplicate of a Steven Wright joke, but I don't believe it was intentional. That was a very long time ago. Overall I thought this was a great clip and the first joke set the tone for the entire routine.
Man it's the laughter what made u laugh..I don't wanna dis the guy but 5 or 6 borrowed ideas from Steven wright and Mitch hedberg.. that's too much.. and his approach,,, he was trying so hard to be deadpanning so to speak...

This guy is very good. Usually with the one liners there are some I’ve heard before, but these were new. I loved the “what Year is your daughter in?” I think I’m going to use that for real.

People commenting about the audience - you do realise that this comedy club has some of the best comperes in the game hosting the gigs? Add a decent one liner comic like Stephen Cookson and it’s always going to go well.
if someone like tim hawkins would never laugh at his own jokes i wouldnt feel quite as good of a connection/laughing reaction, but yeah a lot of comedians are too "cheesy"

that humidifier joke killed them all aswell ... lolol
He had a few that got a snicker from me. I'd say about 35% which isn't that bad.
