- 🥰We are happy to announce that we were able to reunite this mother and baby 3-fingered sloths (Bradypus variegatus).🦥
On May 10, one of the staff members found the baby crying on the floor near the beach. He spotted the mom on the tree, but she was climbing back to the canopy🌳, so he brought the baby for a check-up with the vet, the sloth was healthy and didn't have any injuries.
We recorded the cry of the baby and played it near the tree to get the mom's attention, we waited patiently until the mom came down for the baby.
✨The JRC created this method a few years ago, we use it every time to be able to reunite mom and baby sloths.

That is actually a recording of the baby, and they play it near the tree. That's what makes her come down. It's not until they get up close that they can see. So the recording was used to get mom to come down then she'd be able to see her baby to gather it up in her arms.

I noticed that, too. I thought that was super cute. This video made me cry. To see the joy and love that she displayed. It was beautiful and sweet.
This also proves that the myth that an animal mother will reject a baby if it's touched by a Human cause of the scented is just a myth 👍
It's important to notice this cause people sometimes get reluctant to help a baby animal in need of help in the wild, cause they think the mother will reject them

Well I have my moon in Cancer which makes me ridiculously emotional. I also feel a natural connection with many animals. It's an insult to the other species when a nasty human is referred to as an animal. I think many animals are evolving more than most people are. It pains me to read about any mistreatment of animals.

Hmmm... my dad gave me hugs and I'm a very affectionate person but mom.... she never liked me... I was adopted you see and the only reason I was was because dad wanted me... mom even told me that to my face once when I asked her why she adopted me if she was just going to be the way she was with me... dad died a few years ago across the states and I never got to say goodbye

All animals have that, if we only take the time to look into their eyes. They're emotionally intelligent creatures that can feel pain and joy and suffer depression and morning when someone in their life dies. Even when all their other needs are met (food, shelter, affection, etc), they still MORN the loss of those they care about. People think that animals are dumb, unintelligent, and just a step up from a "moving rock", but they're so much more than that. Every one of them is an individual with their own feelings, preferences, and personalities. All animals. People prefer to pretend otherwise so they don't feel so bad about paying for their lives to be ended for a meal. A meal that they'll forget about the next day. Animals deserve much more than to end up as poo in your toilet from a five minute meal that you barely remember. Stop paying for the suffering and death of animals - keep them off your plate and choose the vegan option.
