    *I'm deaf in my right ear which is why I'm not wearing headphones. I know, it's a bummer not to get the panning sounds. It's also been a bummer to only have one ear my whole life for lots of other reasons, like, playing telephone growing up, I was terrible at it. But, I'll be ok, and I'm getting both channels in the earbud, thanks for your concern :)

    The repetition is something Zack de la Rocha does to get his point across and make people listen. He repeats himself to make sure you are actively listening and ingesting what he is saying and not just hearing words and moving on. I love that.

    Its both brilliant and depressing that all of RAGE's music is still relevant today. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

    “Every song that I’ve ever written is a love song.”-Zack. So it’s true, just not in the romantic sense. But yes, Rage to me is the ultimate band that lives up to its name.

    It's really funny to me that so many people are only just discovering that they're a political band, even after listening to them forever. It's like... did y'all just never look up any of the lyrics, ever? lol

      I’ve been listening to RATM for over 20 years and as a guitar player, I consider myself to be pretty well-versed in music and have good taste. That being said I usually listen to music more for the melody and musicianship than the lyrics. I always knew they were political and loved the message from what I understood. Only within the past year did I dive into every single lyric and analyze every line and it gave me a whole new appreciation for them. Same with TOOL.

    Lmao he uses Shaq's Steel. Havent seen that since late 90s 🤣🤣😂 Also what wizardry is this? The man makes a siren out of his guitar? Guitar hackz! And for the question, I love good music whether a band has developed their own unique sound (Deftones) or they flip the script with every new release (Radiohead) if its good I don't really care.

    Man, people calling out each other as poseurs or sell-outs among punk or political bands is/was inevitable and exhausting. The self-immolation among dogmatic groups is astonishing. Bands like RATM and their fans are best served by ignoring the nattering.

    SuperJersh AUDIOSLAVE. Zac took a hiatus from the band. The remaining members brought in Chris Cornell (Soundgarden). This band is freaking amazing. ✌

    • @SOMA-no2gq
      @SOMA-no2gq 4 года назад +3

      To fully appreciate Audioslave, I feel he should hear Soundgarden's catalog first. Hear Chris in his prime as one of the most powerful and legendary vocalists of all time. Then dip his foot into Audioslave having heard both sides of the coin as one entity.

    This is the love song for all the positive sisters out there!!!
    There's no other lyric that displays love than....."Well if you're bowing down...then let me do the cutting!!!!"
    I think that maybe you are attaching a regular band's ideals to RATM, They are too busy trying to save your soul, to write a love song.

If you want to hear something different go listen to Audioslave, (Awesome band BTW) But Zack's msg, will never waver from being blunt. So there should be a certain ease knowing what you're getting with RATM.

    I just want to double check, you said you didn’t know anything about Rage Against The Machine but you knew they were political, right?
    I ask because a lot of right-wingers have recently been shocked to discover that about them, (something that truly boggled my mind.)
    Anyway, sure Ang Lee can do X, Y, & Z, but fans of his work can still recognize his work as his because he has a style, just like you have a style whether or not you’re leaning into that style, (like Wes Anderson, David Lynch, or Jim Jarmusch.)
    “Nah, Democracy is a goal to be attained.”
    -KRS-ONE, “Why.”
    RATM is in the tradition of protest music and protest music is often repetitive, because it is trying to get across a simpler message-chants at a protest-even when the song is more lyrically complex the refrains and chorus and whatnot are still simple, repetitive, and especially memorable.
    *Should be noted that the idea that artists are making a lot of money or that people who make more money than others is a tactic to divide the proletariat class, turning us against each other over how big or small the scraps are.
    Your structural critiques don’t really change with your tax bracket. It reminds me of when people got on Russell Brand’s case because they felt that even though he was helping people get and keep housing he has a lot of money and so none of his activism mattered, which is ridiculous.
    Should also be said that Zach De La Rocha didn’t really make any money off the band’s final album, (one of four albums,) as he did not get songwriter credits since the songs were all covers. All three pf the original albums came out during the ‘90s, and we can get real deep about the business practices within the entertainment industry of the 20th century leaving many artists in debt, broke, not earning money off their work, underpaid, etc.
    A prime example of that is Back To The Future, Tom Wilson, for one, has been extremely vocal about the studio’s financial shenanigans.

    That's how most operate here, Jersh. They don't want to reexamine views out of peer pressure or since it would be an acknowledgement they were wrong all along. That even supersedes making their lives better let alone other's. It's set up that way by design.

      Metal and rock views don’t do anything close to the pop views, I’d also say I see a lot of rock/metal fans that found me for those reactions taking chances on some pop that they admittedly are liking, I grew up on pop punk and 80s/90s rock and never really gave pop the time of day but I’m really finding value in listening to both and comparing why I do or don’t like something, thx for watching :)

    Personally, I’d be super keen for you to make your way through this whole first album (except for Killing In The Name...that track is so over played and boring) before moving onto anything more from the last two. They’re still very much Rage and phenomenally good but they do sound different. That said, you reacted to Mic Check from The Battle Of Los Angeles and that track is right up near the top for me...

    • @FuzzyDlop
      @FuzzyDlop 4 года назад +3

      There's nothing boring about Killing in the Name, STILL one of the most important and relevant tracks of all time.

    • @ollyhudson9931
      @ollyhudson9931 4 года назад

      This song is too simple in its structure and is overly repetitive to me rendering it rather boring. It’s fun at their gigs to get into it together and all vocally stick your fingers to the man but away from that...it’s pretty boring. It’s the only song of theirs from any of their albums that I automatically skip.....

    I get what you're sayin'. George Miller is one of my favorite directors because he's such a damn chameleon. How Babe, Lorenzo's Oil, and Mad Max all came from the same dude I'll never understand.
