The Mountain of Love. A tough double-climb training day!!! Summited it via the Domain Trail at midnight for NYE this 23/24. Absolutely the worst weather I have ever seen up there! Actual waterfalls coming down the stairs at the top.

Thanks for your comment, yes that is a very tough training day. I would think it would be dangerous enough just climbing it at night even without the bad weather. Nice work!

@@RJsWildWalks we were planning on a 3rd summit but it was too dangerous in the storm!

Summiting twice alone is over an 1800 meter elevation gain. Summiting Mt Te Aroha often would make you very fit.

@@RJsWildWalks It's a training staple for trail runners. Have enjoyed watching your videos nicely put together. Have you considered a small drone?

Thank you very much. I do have a small drone, sadly it is illegal to fly drones on all DOC/National park land in New Zealand. Some councils allow them to be flown on certain parks or beaches though.
I also have a 360 camera with a 3 meter pole that I normally take with me when drones are not aloud.

Solo? Who was carrying the camera at 6:11 ?

Thank you for your comment. For this hike I had a friend that wanted to come along, he assisted by filming three shots and passing my camera up during some of the steep sections. The rest was me setting up the camera on a tripod.
However, my up coming hikes over the next few weeks, including a challenging 17.6km hike (which likely extended to around 25km due to backtracking and exploration), were all solely filmed by me, out on my own.
