High quality Pack from the AGR Line (Advanced Gear Research)
Maxpedition is well know for over the top quality. With the new AGR (Advanced Gear Research) Line, the Riftcore is a departure from the classic Maxpedition line up with a lot of features that really set this back apart.

Thanks For Watching~ Sootch00

There is no other RUclipsr that can talk about a backpack for 20 minutes, AND hold my complete attention.
Well done, Sootch.
Oregon Adam agreed!
There is something about bags that I just love, the styles, the infinite possibilities of how to sort them, What you can carry in them. Your commentary just makes them even more enjoyable!
Couldnt agree more!
8:15 - "It just slides right in."
Giggity.
I apologize XD
Waiting for the Maxpedition Sootch pack
i love this bag. i have carried it everyday since it became avaliable.
I was getting worried. Hasn't been a maxpedition review in awhile. I'm now satisfied.
SOMEONE SEND HELP
I'M WATCHING A GEAR REVIEW OF A PACK THAT I WILL MOST LIKELY NEVER BUY, THAT I AM NOT EVEN INTERESTED IN BUYING
Thanks for watching anyway! Lol!
Maxpedition does make great stuff. However you're paying for the name, nowadays.
I don't see anything wrong with this... I'm probably never going to buy this pack either, but steel I like to keep informed on the different products on the market :)
Bruce Forster Cheap things suck.
Hector Defendi Its only $220
Good to see another pack review. This is one of the reasons I subbed years ago. Your pack reviews are very thorough.
Maxpedition makes such nice stuff, my go to company for bags, red rock outdoor gear is also good.
The USA its sad that you had to edit that lol
The USA O K
The USA L I K E W H A T ?
Thorough review. Used your discount code on checkout and Maxpedition applied it to the entire purchase, which included pouches and hardware bits: thanks much.
glad to see a company use a bright colored inner lining easy to see and find stuff, ive always complained about companies make a bag with black or dark color liner, you need a flash light to find anything
If I have any complaint about Maxpedition is something I call, "One step short of perfect and one step above irritating".
They seem to miss one or two relatively minor features which come back to haunt something later.
I'm glad to see they're re- evaluating their line.
SensPrep, thanks for the great review!
Their new line isn't "upgraded" or "advanced", but it is pussified.
My old Maxpedition bags still haven't worn out, and I would never downgrade after owning the original.
Bulwark1911 I think this looks like an Oakley bag, and I hate the way Oakley bags look.
Yup
Torn between this and the Lithvore, leaning on the Lithvore for its more grey man value plus no need to put a water bottle holder on the side, but not sure on the space of the Lithvore plus missing out on the sunglasses holder.
I am not sure how rugged the "webbing" on the front and side will be. It sure does not look very strong. I can not think of why it would need to be that expensive either. $210 is a bit crazy for a bag, even if it does have the maxpedition name on it.
Using mine for a few years it's excellent. Never am issue.
Might stretch a little is all
sootch00 takes tactical hiking to a whole new level....LOL. Love the review, nice pack.
man, I watched your videos for awhile like them a lot glad to tell I got people close to where I live prepared. Thanks for the videos. sootch00
Sootch, nothing but respect for you, but I'm an office guy and I've had Maxpedition fail, they also did not honor their life time guarantee. As good as you make them look, it would take a lot for me to trust Maxpedition again.
Yup agree that they aren't as good as the hype. I have this bag, bought it based on this video and I could have got a number of other bags for less that outperform this one. Usub'd as soon as I figured it out.
Just picked up the riftblade! Cant wait for it to get here tomorrow!
correction: no foliage color (I wish). Only black, gray, and tan.
I also have this bag. for the most part, I really like how organized it is. I put my laptop in the soft pocket. I have found 2 things I hate ahout this bag I wish you would have mentioned. first the zippers do not pull smooth like their other bags. they tend to stick and you have to yank pretty hard sometimes. it was worse and has gotten a little better over time but not much. the second, those silky smooth straps will not stay put. I am always cinching down the backstraps as they come loose often.
Gabe Swiatkiewicz Are they YKK zippers? Don't they get smoother over time?
I don't like the slick "seatbelt like webbing" idea either. That stuff frays.
utilitycow they are YKK, but they definitely do not seem the same as my other maxpedition products. also, maxpedition does not warranty the zippers and thats the weakest point.
Excellent review! Nothing distracting us from the actual review of the bag with various sponsors. Keep it up Sootch00!!
i have two of the smaller packs.. caught them on clearance.. a tan one for work and a black one to match my bike of course! quality is great..
I like the Maxpedition bags myself and thought about making a bug out bag from one.
I know many people will look at the price and scoff at Maxpedition products, but that's a bad mistake. Maxpedition products really are superior in many ways to it's competitors. If you want the best made, longest lasting, life depends upon it, bags and packs, go with Maxpedition. My Collosus has been all over the world with me and still is on my side daily, it is just as good as the day I bought it, it just has more character now. Thanks Sootch!!
Glad to see they are improving upon their already great line of products. I think I'll have to get one of the AGR packs for my kit soon... Great review video.
Its the opposite, they are not as good as the older bags.
I love my Riftcore for EDC, just this week I added the Maxpedition FRP on it for my trauma kit. I love that too!! Thanks Sootch!!!
Looks like a very user friendly set up Sootch, thanks for sharing your ideas.
I've purchased a few pouches from Maxpedition based off your reviews. And the quality is high grade. But pack wise, the capacity isn't there for a bug-out or INCH bag. Where the minimum suggested capacity is 50~55 liters.
What is Skinny Medic going to think when he sees this video? I just received a $90.00 trauma kit from him using your on-line coupon and I don't even carry guns (one of California's ridiculous laws). You are respected by and have influence over 300,000 viewers (well-deserved). You've let them down with this failure to address the responsibilities of all who carry guns into the public realm. I hope you will post a video soon on the importance of having proper medical supplies with you when you are carrying. I do love your channel and find you to be an engaging and even entertaining person. That backpack really is top-notch. Thanks, Lucy
In my rant above I did not address the fact the video was about the backpack. Sootch showed us all the storage parts of the pack and there were no trauma items displayed. I realize that this is just a demonstration of how Sootch might use the pack but in an expert's demo things like a trauma kit should not be overlooked. It's just life. The more you are respected as an expert the more exacting you have to be.
Enjoyable reviews as usual mr. Scootch, its like a tv show to me!
Your opening statement cracked me up...!
"Dear viewer, I see a lot of bags"...
Suggestion, you might want to try raising your gaze up a few feet...
Only thing lacking is a water bottle holder. Which add on pouch would you reccomend for a bottle?
tgillies101 Maxpedition sells the "collapsible bottle pouch" separately. That would go just right on there
Nice review. Added to my wish list so when money is no object, I'll pick one up.
reminds me of the mil-tec 3 day pack. except ive added a number of condor pouches n bags on mine for different uses.
"Sootch00 ... man of action" ! ☺
Love your vid reviews !!!!
I am all abut carrying a 22 Remington Semi Auto. Light weight gun, ammo, and easily found ammo.
Now I'm torn between a 5.11 rush 24 and this bag... thanks for another great review!
Noel Santos get a falcon 2
5.11 rush 24 way cheaper and better designed. I have that and the Riftcore, spent too much on it. Looking at other packs now.
You know I bought this backpack because of this review.... but I still watch this video repeatedly
Sootch00, you the MAN!!! I'm glad we are not friends or I'll be broke. I love all your vids and keep it up brother!!
I’ve owned and used mine for over 3 years. Here are my opinions. 1. A lot of functional and intuitive compartments, 2. Smaller but does hold a lot of gear, if you don’t use a hydration bladder, 3. Outer molle-type straps helps a lot with attaching extra pouches, 4. CCW pouch holds my Glock 26 BUT adds bulk and makes packing the bag full more difficult (recommend) using a slimmer single stack sub compact pistol to maximize space, 5. Expensive, at $200+ 6. Now the kicker: This backpack is VERY uncomfortable. To call this bag “ergonomic” is ridiculous. The straps are rigid and the way they are angled pinches your shoulders near you collar bone. If your bag is packed with any weight at all, YOU WILL FEEL IT. Long treks with this bag will not be fun. It was hard to find out how uncomfortable this bag was after spending close to $200.
that is a awesome backpack,I could take that badboy when I go hiking in the sierra Nevada mountains!
Love your videos. Can you do a comparison between rift core vs vanquest trident 2 gen 2?
Great review and do you plan to do a review on MAXPEDITION'S TIBURON BACKPACK?
I just bought this bag because of this review! I like your review. Nice one! Cheers! 👍
Is this bag still holding up?
If I could make one improvement to the bag it would be putting pouches on the kidney pads instead of the handles. But aside from one very minor idea I may have to get one of these to use as an EDC/ urban get home bag! Great video S00tch!
I'm really interested in the Tiburon by maxpedition. I know you have a lot of history dealing with and using different products put out by maxpedition. Have you heard any positives or negatives on that particular bag?
Ive been looking for a solid backpack for camping/general outdoors stuff. Will it hold a 3 liter water bladder? Im trying to decide between this and the camelbak HAWG. Both seem perfect for what i need.
They're so badass, getting one soon man 👌🏽
Cannot decide between black or grey, any thoughts???
Hey there...how does this compare to the Maxpedition Gridflux bag? Looks real similar....
Would a full size (not a pistol AR-15) broken down AR-15 fit in the compartment that you had your pistol in?
Will you get any gearslinger of the new AGR? that would be nice
great review as always. What would you recommend? this or the Maxpedition falcon 3? I intend to use it mostly for travel purposes instead of as a Bug out bag.
Ever thought of getting a bigger 3-5 day bag like an Eberlestock halftrack or gunslinger?
I'm looking at this pack, one of a half dozen or so, for a new EDC pack. I had a SOG pack that was 24L but at 23L this one looks bigger.
Does this pack have straps on the bottom to attatch a sleeping pad?
nice vid Sootch ! When u gonna review something from the Direct Action brand ? I don't own nothing from them yet but I heard very good things. I have a bunch of maxpedition produts and I'm happy with them but I'm always interested in new good products
I bought this backpack and add on a few points. First off it rides low. Don't know why, if its on purpose or a defect but it does. 2nd it lacks a bungie for jackets and tarp. 3rd it is so small it can only be used for ultralight or as a daypack. It does force you to minimize. I wouldn't say this is that great or bad of a pack only one trip with is so far. My wifes Cannae Pro Legion is a much better design, is lighter, fits more gear and is cheaper. Sort of jealous. Plus on this Rift core you have to add a water bottle holder $30 if you don't do bladder which I dont.
Do you like it better than the Maxpedition Falcon 2?
How do the riftcore and falcon ii compare to each other? Currently have a falcon ii I’ve had for a few years... worth the upgrade?
sootch - did you try fitting the AR upper and lower seperately?
Hey man i enjoy watching all of your videos yes, i had to to subscribed to your channel 2 years ago........i have a question for you about a m1 carbine its an alpine m1......where would be a good place to get a poly stock like the original one for a low price. Thank you
I bought a SOG bag and the zipper was complete junk. I would like to try a Maxpedition.
Great review thanks, If you had to choose one pack(Not for Bugging Out) For everday application, what would you pick Maxpedition or Vanquest?? And what pack would it be? Same applies to the organizers?? Thanks in advance and keep up the great videos
bravo Amigo excelente video muy esplicativo..saludos desde Argentina buenos Aires...
Hey Sootch, i love the review i do have one question. Do you know if a 15" laptop will fit inside? Thanks take care and keep up the good work
Great review Sootch and a good bag but at over 200 it's gonna have to stay on my wish list. Keep up the good reviews though!
Another great video Sootch👍 do you build bags for purchase ?
While it may not look tactical, it looks alien. Though I will say the AGR pouches look very nice.
Supposedly it wasn't supposed to look tactical but they screwed that up too.
What watch are you wearing in this video?
Loonytik looks like a “ hazard 4”
u should do the 3V outlaw bag. I'm thinking about getting that 1. I'm going back to your pratus bag video. forgive my spelling on the bag lol
nice bag you have there.. im really having a hard time on deciding what to get between riftcore and riftblade.. i kinda like the look of the riftcore especially the sunglasses pocket (kinda looks like oakley sunglasses pouches) but im worried that riftcore might not be to small for my EDC (office stuff, laptop, powerbanks/cables/chargers and cellphones and also i bring along everyday with me my gym clothes, towel, pair of rubbershoes weightlifting belt and toiletries.) do you think it all would fit in riftcore? or should i get the riftblade. (tho i think its too deep, and i kinda not like the look of sunglasses pocket (not the same as the riftcore) hope you can give me an advice which bag to get, since you already have both, and what are the pros and cons of one over the other.
keep uploading cool stuff👌👌👌
thanks a lot.
hey sootch, carrying ammo in your go-bag (in boxes not mags) good idea bad idea or indifferent? also would you recommend 2 handguns for home defense (if you have multiple people in your home to defend it) or 1 handgun and 1 shotgun?
All ammo I carry in a go bag is in Magazines. It evens the weight more evenly distributed plus ready to go. As far as home defense, I would never leave my wife unarmed while I check out a bump in the night. Whatever she's comfortable with would be best. Hard to beat a shotgun. My older kids have guns in their rooms but they're 18 and 21. My youngest son is 13 and has a 22 rifle with the ammo separate but accessible. Thanks!
sootch00 thanks sootch! Helps a lot. Love both your channels and all vids keep it up. And i hope you don't mind i used your sign off for a school project haha. Thanks for all you do!
thanks for the review! nice bag.
Sir can you do a video for preparedness or things to prepare at home for typhoons and possible floods? I'm from the Philippines and we have a lot of typhoons every year and flooding too..
Sootch I like your big watch where can I buy it?
Could you please do a review on the Explorer Tactical Gun Concealment Backpack with MOLLE Webbing, Hydration Ready (available on Amazon for less than 70)?
That English Accent haha :D
Great pack, usual Maxpedition quality :)
can you fit a ruger 10/22 takedown in the conceal carry compartment i wonder
nope too small. Pretty small even for a handgun. Not a great design I use mine as a map pocket
Would you say this would compare in size to the Maxpedition Falcon II?
Joey Cuz good question.
Is the bag made in the USA?
The Bagpack looks pretty similar to Vanquest Falconer 27.
This guy it’s maxpedition lover
Awesome review!
Good video, but I think I will save up for an arcteryx LEAF khard 60.
Where is buy this bag??
Sootch,
How would you hold up this newly designed pack vs a 5.11 Rush 12 which is essentially the same size. Big price difference. Both very well known for outstanding quality bags as you know. Just wanted your opinion on best bang for your buck between these two small bags.
Thanks.
5.11 is cheaper and more practical. I have one and bought this to "upgrade" based on this very video. In actuallity it was a downgrade. Pretty ticked off.
Another great review!
blackhawk! made for the military by people from the military real tuff stuff
Love mine. It is a great bag.
Just placed my order I couldn’t find the discount code in the description so I just put your name in and tadaa
Awesome review !!! Is this bag still holding up?
You never see that in these videos on this channel. I have this bag and have serious buyers remorse.
Next time a Vanquest bag fot a review ?
Great review, and a very nice pack! :-)
I gotta ask your profession..how do u afford all the awesome stuff u show us. I'm turning green!! I would appreciate the info so maybe I can follow...
Companies send products for youtubers to review, not paying a dime for most this gear.
6:45 Very strong and thick, yet it's thin...
I used granger waterproofing spray on my Typhon and it's water proof again :)
nice place for a hike, all that was missing was a dog at your side :D
I am not sure if it is useful to have two pistols? 🤔 Yu dont have any food in your bag ?
