Another great review Sootch! I'm sold on Maxpedition. I caught a couple of the older type Gear Slingers on clearance last year. got one khaki for work and one black to match the bike of course. Also bought the universal holsters for each. I couldn't be happier with my investment. And BTW I'm glad you didn't face plant when that limb broke..lol
Thanks JB, How I didn't end up in the creek, I don't know! lol!
There it is! The ubiquitous slow-motion cascading waterfall. That's the money shot brother. Signature Sootch. Hahaha.
I love bags, packs, pouches and other storage devices. Look at the myriad of different uses for the average ammo can. So many concepts abound that you could turn it into a whole series by itself. Call it 'Ammo Can Concepts'.
The caveat with Maxpedition is not the cost so much, but the fact that once you buy one, there will be no need to replace it. They simply last forever. My Falcon 2 has lasted me for 6+ years and it still looks brand new. It's my EDC bag and goes with me whenever I leave the house. I instinctively grab it without even realizing that I have done so.
On a side note, it's good to see gravity still works with that last outtake. We appreciate those bloopers.
Keep up the good work my friend.
Lol! I'm surprised I didn't go head first into the creek! Yes, Maxpedition will last forever.
As for as Ammo cans.... I can't get enough on them to store ammo but I'll have to think about that one. Sounds like a great video idea. Thanks Bert!
I always enjoy your reviews! Very clear, thorough and concise! Your channel has become a reference point for me. Salute to you Sootch00!!! Long live the Republic.
Thanks Brother!
It'd be cool if you did a review of something you didn't like and pointed out flaws. That would help show people what to look out for, and what to avoid. Just thought that'd be a new spin, but either way keep the vids coming!
Thanks Smxley. It's too much work to review something I don't like plus there's so much good quality gear out there. Maybe one day : )
SMXLEY BXLLIST1CS : Let's focus on the good stuff, yes?
just my 2 cents but he did do a video on stuff from Wally-World .....:)
I'm ok with reviewing "good stuff",but there are so many people, new to preparedness, that look to these vids to tell them what we know from trial-n-error and experience....(never wear blue jeans in the woods, they take FOREVER to dry)so a couple of reviews on some equipment that doesn't measure up would be helpful to all...JMO
gandamack From his past reviews he says he tries to only bring reviews of products that are g2g. I completely understand what you are saying though.
I have binge watched both of your channels the last 2 days.
Yeah having the name on the pack is great. So many other pack manufacturers have been doing that forever; glad Maxpedition finally figured it out.
I love the way it unzips all the way down. Looks like a great day pack.
"it doesn't have that ""Shoot me first"" look" ... haha.
Looks like a nice backpack, but I am curious does that webbing work like molle or pals? Thanks for the hard work put into the channel you deserve the recognition via subscribers. Thanks sootch!
Thanks Joseph, Yes, the Atlas webbing is compatible with Pals or Molle attachments.
Maxpedition emailed a 46% discount offer for Black Friday. I've been in the market for an EDC 'Day Pack' and the 'Rock Eater' seemed to fit the bill. I haven't received the pack, it should arrive next .
This is my second Maxpedition product. Third if you include the Universal Velcro Holster. I purchased the Versapack sling-style bag when it first came out. Mine is the older version without the 'Grab Handle'. I've carried it on a daily basis for the past 10-years plus. It is my primary EDC bag. The Lithvore doesn't have a CCW compartment which is not a problem for me since I have other carry options available.
A side note. I had the occasion to use the Maxpedition Lifetime Warranty. My Versapack's CCW compartment zipper started to pull loose and there were a couple of other seams that had begun to separate as well. This, of course, was after 10 plus years of hard daily use. The process was relatively painless. No complaints. I did have to wash the bag prior to shipping it back to Maxpedition to avoid a $15 cleaning fee. Smiles.
Looking forward to receiving my new Lithvore EDC Pack.
OMG, I have been looking for the perfect edc bag. I didn't want something too big, but not too small. I have been looking at the maxpedition typhoon 2 but I didn't feel 100% complete. Now this is the perfect bag for me.
Thanks for great review Sootch! good thing I bought mine at the 2017 NRA show in Atlanta for the show price of $120. I love this bag and carry it every day. Mine is even in Gray. Love that color. Thumbs way up on this bag!
They sold a lot of gear that weekend! Thanks Dan for the kind words and for supporting the NRA!
im getting one for sure its the perfect size for me I love watching ur videos
Mr. Sootch I absolutely love all of your stuff and your reviews have been spot on!!! I have learned a ton from your channel thank you. Your bloopers are fantastic. Just curious what your wife says about all of your bags?
Nearly ate sand on that bank haha
I have nothing but Maxpedition and have never had any issues at all (We can't get Vanquest here in the UK that I have found) this bag looks great, definitely agree with the 'less tactical' as I get some odd looks carrying my Mubo around. Great review Sir, will have to see what the availability is here as I like this.
Thank you so much Sootch00, Guess I'll save up for this excellent maxpedition bag.
Thanks Indio, you'll not be disappointed.
@SensiblePrepper There are so many packs out there for EDC/hiking/camping. Maybe you could do a comparison video on your favorite day hiking pack and then another for the best multi-day/camping backpack.
Thank you for the review.God bless you.
very nice bag i need an edc back pack this looks like a great plave to start, thanks for sharing friend have a great day brother man.
Thanks Tank! I appreciate you watching!
Just ordered one and used your code! This bag seems just the right size for edc
Do you think the color is uniform gray or there are variations in the color?
Because according to the videos I watch, the color is sometimes gray green, other times anthracite gray.
I sometimes even see 3 types of gray on the bag.
Thank you for your work.
Looks like a nice backpack, but how durable does the webbing feel, it looks kinda flimsy. Thanks for the hard work put into the channel you deserve the recognition via subscribers. Thanks sootch!
Maxpedition is incredibly durable and while the webbing is flexible, it's high tensile strength. I've been using MP for 8 years and they just hold up. Thanks for the kind words Joseph!
SensiblePrepper Thanks for responding, and man you almost ate it! Thanks, God Bless
Excellent review, thanks! Do you think it could accommodate a mirror less camera for easy access?
Hi Sootch, love the reviews! Question: Thanks to you, I've become a big fan of Maxpedition. Love the Malaga! Just finished a SOLO Wilderness First Responder Course and using the FR1 to build out med kit to attach to it. Will be building two of these systems and had thought about using the opportunity to try out their new advanced line.
What would you recommend as the best Malaga size bag equivalent in the new line? Edgepeak? Which I would put the advanced FR1 med kit on.
Bought a maxpedition and I love the quality....got a two for one and gave the extra to my son! Lo
Hi! does it fits a4 paper format well?
another great review Sootch. thank you.
Thanks Jim!
Good review as always. I have been a Maxpedition customer for years. I have loved their stuff in the past and I have more of their gear than anyone else's by far however I hate what they've done with their new Molle attachment I just can't stand the looks of it and as I'm one of those person who love attaching all sorts of things to my bags Maxpedition has lost me as a customer for a while as all the new bags I like have this new Mollie and I just refuse to buy anything with it.
Great review, watch out for those tics! They're bad this year man. Last hike I went on with my gf and her family I had 3 on me.
This would have been the perfect EDC bag if it had hook and loop on the inside like the Rift Point and a CCW pocket. And maybe a hydration port at the top for a 2L bladder. I still use mine every day though.
hilarious out takes great job sootch!
Please review the Maxpedition Tiburon, thanks!
Maxpedition currently had a 50% back-to-school sale on the Entity line as well as the Lithvore.
Nice review sir! But would a 15" laptop fit in there?
What kind of watch you wearing?.. Love your review and you have a new subscriber!! 👍🏻
Got to love those G2 pens and Sharpies.
I would LOVE to see Maxpedition come out with an AGR version of the Gyrfalcon.....
#SensiblePrepper Is the sternum strap removable? Or only adjustable? To me, having the strap flopping around is annoying on EDC. Great review though!!
I purchased this pack last week. I sent it back Friday for a return....was a lot smaller than I thought.
Pack was built very well 💯
Harley I personally like a small pack. Just curious, what were you trying to use it for?
Sterling Hamilton Looking to replace my Kelty Peregrine pack. My Kelty is starting to shows it's wear. Pack for traveling and using on vacation trips.
Harley Nice. I mainly just use day packs. Currently deciding between this one and another one.
Sterling Hamilton What is your other choice? I love the set up in this pack and the water bottle sleeves. So many companies are putting out new packs without water bottle sleeves. If this pack was just a little bigger, I would have been happy with it. Maxpedition offers several other packs in this new line....But, they don't have the water bottle sleeves.
If I was traveling or taking vacations alone this pack would be great. But, traveling and vacationing with my wife, I need a little bit bigger back.

This is the other bag. There both very different but I would probably use them for slightly different things. I'm kind of leaning towards the maxpedition.
I Wish the shoulder straps had the S shape straps. Much more comfy
lol at "It doesn't have that 'Shoot me first' look!"
I really enjoy both of your channels and I especially appreciate all of your top-notch Backpack reviews. I would find it fascinating to find out your thoughts contrasting the tactical-style brands that you review (Maxpedition, as well as the other tactical-styled brands such as 511, condor, vanquest, etc.) with the more ordinary (and often lighter weight) backpacking brands such as arc'teryx, osprey, gregory, the northface, patagonia, etc. Maxpedition does make awesome tactical backpacks but the folks at Osprey sure are putting out extremely nice packs as well!
It does have some nice features, but I just do not like the look of it and thus can't get myself to pull the trigger on getting one. I'll stick with the Pygmy Falcon-II. Thanks for the overview.
They should have just made a two-strap Malaga instead.
Because the Malaga has the top accessory pouch, which is the pouch you use 95% of the time.
All they did was make it longer, and add some shock cord to attach rain gear below the secondary pocket on the bottom.
The rest of the changes are just ok, and 500d is disappointing...
Bulwark1911 GET OUT OF MY MIND!!! I literally thought this exact thing. I love my Malaga but I ordered this last week. I love the Lithvore and it’s absolutely perfect for EDC.
I’m sold! I’m looking to pick one up soon. Do you have a content creator referral code for anywhere these are sold?
hey sootch i had a video suggestion, how about a walk through of you in an army surplus store showing us what some good buys are and what you look for when you go to one. we have a few here in my city but your input could really give an idea on what is worth buying. not to mention support our local businesses. thanks!
That's a good idea. Unfortunately the owners of our local army surplus store are super rude and smart A's. The last time I was there I walked out saying I'd never be back..... and I haven't.
Maybe I'll find one that's not too far. Thanks Jerardo!
That really sucks, i dont know how some people could be like that its basically free advertisement for their business. I show my friends your videos cause you explain in a simple and calm manner that prepping is not being paranoid or wierd, it just makes sense!! You have THE best videos on the web for newbies and we appreciate everything you do and stand for.
Thanks Brother! I appreciate the kind words.
The owners didn't know who I was, but a good friend of mine goes hiking with one of them and told him. Oh well, Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Treat people with respect and you get along well in life : )
Order one, got my Sootch00 discount almost $15.00 off plus free shipping!
Damn your in the woods. Love it.
Thanks!
We have 2 maxpedition packs and we love them
Hey Don
nice review I have a few Maxpedition bags also.
just wondering how many bags do you have now?
Have a Jesus filled day
Greg in Michigan
Hi Greg, A bunch. Actually I give away a lot of bags to friends and family. Thanks Brother.
SensiblePrepper
maybe I should give you my address.
he he he
Greg in Michigan
ps just got my cpl today
Congrats! Glad you're taking self defense seriously. Take care Greg.
please do the tiburon!
Would of gotten it but 25-30 litres is EDC for me.
same, im going for the riftcore
Would you consider doing a review on vertx bags?
Sootch, do you plan to do anything from the new Vertx line of bags?
Not currently. Maybe at some point. Thanks~
Were as RUclips doesn't try to help anyone. My screen, after your video completed, shows your review of there Riftcore backpack as a choice for a next video to watch. After just finishing and can visualize the Lithvore backpack to compare. Not over board with pockets, pouches, 550 cord pulls and all the other items to bring focus to you. Time to save a few extra dollars and purchase one. Size is perfect for a complete change of everyday clothes (with a few extras).
The videos at the end are ones I insert. Its called End Screen/ Annotations. RUclips is trying but it's still way off.
While I like the Riftcore, the Lithvore is a much more useful bag in everyday situations. Thanks Jeff!
Does these newer packs fit better for someone around 6'? I had several of the older style packs and they would never fit right, ie.waist belt would be around my torso. Almost as if they were designed for children. Or Asians.
Awesome pack !!!
Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
How many bags can one little man have 👍
Better to have to many, then not enough!!!
Could this be used as personal item or underseat bag on a flight?
Is the riftcore a better bag than the lithvore?
Thanks
This backpack does not include the hardshell cover compartment for shades/goggles that the riftcore has 😠😡
Merci !!!
How many maxpedition bags do you own?
Wheres the gun compartment
will a US canteen fit in the water bottle holder?
The lighter and stick (glue, ointment) falling from elastic, ask for a better pocket for items like that!
Is it supposed to magically hold whatever I put there? No, you put items that are better suited for that size loop.
It's all right! Good sales!
Please do the gridflux or the tiburon next
Good stuff.
Thanks Brother!
Nice lil pack
I'm looking for a high quality water purification system (like a life straw) can anyone help me out as to which one I should by with out going bankrupt?
Did you say "no maxpedition did NOT pay" you to do this demonstration...? SOLD!!!
That is correct.
Is it made in the USA ?
No, it's made in Vietnam.
Dude this is pocket change compared to mystery ranch. 150 I'm surprised it's not twice that
why does the grey look green?
Because you’re colour-blind. Doesn’t look green to us. 🤷♂️
wpuld love to see sone gear thts not maxpedition and het ur opinion
My last pack video was the 511 RUSH 24, the Vanquest Trident 20, Cannae Legion, 511 Covert Box Pack, Condor Frontier backpack plus others. I'm working on a LAPG bag review next. There are Maxpediiton reviews mixed in but not the majority. Thanks Eddie.
i hate how every company seems to put a waterbottle pouch on there bag, they always suck i would rather buy a waterbottle pouch and attach to molle on the side, so many great bags have been ruined by that crap.....just my opinion
really good video, do you/somebody think to know a good budget 48-72 h backpack?
Check out the 511 RUSH 72. Excellent pack for a good price. Thanks David!
Thank you ! ;)
Niec
This H2O Bladder compatible???
There's not compartment or port. It's really too small for a water bladder.
Does it have a ccw spot?
No!
if that pack doesn't scream tactical then nothing does.
I've had this bag a while and I haven't heard it scream once.... if it did, I'd shoot it! Lol!
too bad i do not like their new designs. AGR killed my interest.
HI i would ilke toknow which one bag would you recommend the Maxpediotion Lithvore or the Cannae Legion for edc/ school/ car bag. Please let me know
The Legend is 21L and the Lithvore is 17L so you'll have more room in the Legend but it will be a bigger bag. It's all about how much you're carrying. Both are good quality and would be solid choices. Personally, I'm using the Lithvore because it fits what I do a little better. Thanks Mason.
I am just upgrading from a 5.11 push pack as my edc bag so thank you for the great information on both packs.
ticks are bad this year.
That was crazy.... yes they are.
I wish they designed the sternum straps to be taken off. I don't see a need for them in a 17L pack.
First
HOSS DA BOSS You are the chosen one.
Thanks Hoss! You da Boss!
"they self lubricate"....
How the hell do they do that? Store the a huge amount of lubricant in a hidden compartment....????
Lol, this guy gives good reviews, but once in a while he says some really dumb stuff!
@restodruid4life self-lubricating materials exist. educate yourself before you make dumb posts.
Review was well done..pack is ok...Ive seen better...
So would pack would that be?
All depends on what you want it for...there are a number of "good" packs and makers out there..5-11,etc...I use a Kelty for my big GOOD bag, interior frame,7300 CI...just because it isnt OD or Multi-cam doesnt mean it isnt good enough for "tactical"....my Kelty was red before I subdued it...I was in Home Depot last night and saw a one strap tool backpack, extra heavy duty, that would make an awesome day pack or GHB...I told Wife that that was her next car bag.....there are many packs...you have to judge what you want...
It's definitely what you're looking for and personal preferences but this bag is excellent.
I gotta say, you said you've "seen better" and then you cite a big bag, not something comparable. Have you seen a better bag of comparable size? What features make your preferred bag better?
