    I’m a big fan of Maxpedition and have several of their bags, pouches and holsters. The one thing I don’t like about the newer designs is that a majority of the backpacks don’t have a built in water bottle pouch on either side. I don’t want to buy an extra attachment just to carry my water bottle. Either a design flaw or a ploy to sell more attachments.

    • @johnd4348
      @johnd4348 6 лет назад +4

      For the price they should throw in a really pretty girl to carry your water bottle for you. If they did I would buy one. I just buy my stuff at Goodwill. Packs for 5 dollars.

    • @bdh3949
      @bdh3949 4 года назад +1

      I wouldn't want an unusable (to me) pouch always hanging off the outside of my bag, I would never buy it. I prefer a much cleaner outside.

    I think Maxpedition products are worth every penny. Their quality made and priced right, So everybody can afford. Another great review Sootch00 and it was pretty cool to see your wife in this episode too. Long live the republic bro.

    Just checked out the website. This stuff is pretty expensive. I’ll still with 5.11. Extremely good quality for a decent price

    • @TuBui2
      @TuBui2 6 лет назад +2

      if you want similar gear as 5.11 (at least in terms of packs) I'd check out the LApolicegear branded Atlas bags. almost exactly the same construction and design for half the cost.

    • @spicecrop
      @spicecrop 5 лет назад

      @@TuBui2 Yep, and same with SOG gear. They make a Rush 72 knock off that is just as good and a little bit lighter for half the cost.

    Nice bags, but I can buy 4 30 liter Ospreys for the price of one of those bags. And get a lifetime warranty.

    • @Weakeyedominant
      @Weakeyedominant 6 лет назад +2

      I think these are made in the USA though. I think that's where the price difference comes from.

    • @Brandon_Neil
      @Brandon_Neil 6 лет назад +5

      Right. Just like you can buy a pocket knife for 1$.. it will cut almost exactly like a 100$ knife for the first few cuts. so yes. If you go hiking 1 day a year or something, go cheap. If you use it everyday and depend on it's performance, pay for a premium product.

    • @Boobashoob
      @Boobashoob 6 лет назад +8

      Brandon Neil
      The difference is, Osprey is a professional grade company. People hike Mount Everest with Ospreys on their backs. They can withstand the harshest conditions for decades.
      It’s not like buying a $1 knife vs a $100 knife at all.
      It’s like buying a $40 knife that can outperform and outlast an overpriced $280 knife.

    Maxpedition makes really good products but the price is high compared to 5.11 Rush series for example.

    • @trevorknoll422
      @trevorknoll422 5 лет назад +3

      That's because the rush series is not even comparable. These are much higher quality

  • @rylancory
    @rylancory 6 лет назад +6

    I know its good quality and well thought out. Just can't really justify the price though. $270 CAD for the Riftcore seems a little crazy when competitors are making similar products for a cheaper price.

    • @bruceforster3709
      @bruceforster3709 6 лет назад

      There ARE other companies with stuff JUST as good for much less money. Nothing wrong with Maxpedition-you're just paying snob $$$ for the name!

    • @Brandon_Neil
      @Brandon_Neil 6 лет назад

      It's 150$ on amazon. It seems like you can get just about all their stuff for like 60% of msrp there. But yes you do pay a premium for the bleeding edge of bag technology. If the features apply to you the price ends up making sense. If you don't need all the bells and whistles, you will see a bad value.

    • @rylancory
      @rylancory 6 лет назад

      .Com or .Ca? Up here in Canada it was $270. $150 isn't that bad of a deal. I'd buy it at that price. Just not double.

    That riftblade is a sweet pack!! I also like the fack they use seat belt material for their straps! Can't get more tough than that! They never seize to amaze! I have one of their sling bags and i love it. Been thinking about really upgrading to either the riftblade or tiburon pack. I like the zipper pulls and the zipper lock feature, also like the velcro strip. I would buy their rain cover too fits right in the pocket in the bottom. Probably buy one good size pouch to attach and thats it. Would hold most if not all your gear that way. Not too many companies offer all these features. Bomb proof packs! Quality builds and materials! Worth every penny! Hike on!

    For those who correctly state that Maxpedition is more expensive than their competition, in this case you get what you pay for. I have a Versipak that’s 15 years old, and my Noatak will be 13 this year. Both have been dragged around the world and still look new.

    The "obvious" zipper issue when you open to a corner is what I've also experienced on my Maxpedition Tiberon. Anything but smooth. Noted that Maxpedition QC found the issue and reinforced those corners, adding stitching that will soon wear. In other words, the zipper seems to ride the cloth at those points. While the overall bag materials and harness are fantastic, this zipper issue is one that will keep me from a Maxpedition bag going forward.

    I have my Riftblade for about a year. And it´s great for my everyday usage. You can even go with it on a 3 to 5 day journey if you know how to effectivly pack a backpack. Please notice, i mean a 3 - 5 Day trip in the civilisation. Not a 5 day Winter-Biwak in the wilderness of the woods of norway. For this kind of Trip i would prefer a Maxpedition Gyrfalcon. Unfortunately, there is no really large outdoor backpack from Maxpedition. With 50 -> 80 liters volume.

    To all the people that say it's too expensive. I'd rather buy a bag and be able to DEPEND on it and guarantee it will do what I need it to for years. If you use the bags everyday for years it equates to a few cents a day. Worth it in my mind to comfortably and confidently have everything I need with me all the time. The first time an essential part of your cheap bag breaks while your out, you will realize why people pay for quality.

    I always go back and forth between Maxpedition and Vanquest... They are both superb quality, so it comes down to features for me, and again, there are things to like and dislike for me with both. If I could design a "perfect" pack for me it would definitely be a baby of both company's packs. I'm leaning towards the Riftcore for my next purchase though. I just like that that Vanquest has more compartments, particularly the side compartments, and more hook & loop. I prefer the clamshell design and yolk strap system on the Rift series though. If I could marry those two, and they had a child... perfect pack. ;-)

      When it comes to new technology you do pay a premium. Just like a 20$ cellphone does 90% of what a 800$ phone does. But if you use a bag daily and you rely on it working without issues, spending an extra 100$ is a no brainer.

      To carry any items 29 L or less is my guess.

    Pricing themselves out of the market . Most of these posts are writing about the competition and how much better their prices are .

    hi fellow EDC enthusiast. hope you can help me with my dilemma... i am really interested in getting an EDC covert tactical bag. i am now using a TNF surge bag for my EDC (school/gym).
    i am looking to getting either maxpedition riftcore or the 5.11 amp24 (tho im leaning more towards the riftcore), i like them coz of the clam shell opening (i havent tried a bag with a clam shell opening but i think they would be much easy to organize and access things in and out) and the modularity option for both bags. My gripe is that both of them have quick release buckles, and i am carrying everyday atleast 15-18 lbs of gear, books, laptop, gym stuff and i am always in daily commute, train jeepneys and buses. i am afraid that the quick release buckles might accidentaly unsnap while carrying heavy gear (especially when seats in public transport are full and i just sometimes hang on the jeepney and/or buses railings 😄👊💪). also i intend to use it in hiking, so again my concern is that the quick realease buckles might accidenrally unsnap while hiking in steep slippery hills and the bag with its heavy load might put me off balance and get into a mishap 🤕😂🤕. So to make the long story short, id highly appreciate any experience, feedbacks comments or suggestion regarding on should i still consider investing (i said investing because they cost a lot), or if there are something that i can do to remedy and make sure the the buckles would sure be not to accidentally relase off.
    **** and also what can i do to cover the grommet holes at the bottom of the maxpedition riftcore, i dont see me having any use for it, and moisture and dirt (as ill be again using tje bag for hiking) might actually sip in the grommet hole ****
    thanks for reading my long post... hope you can give me a good advise as i really like the compartmentalization of these great bags (self confessed O.C. 😊😊😊)
    thanks again a lot mate.

    Nice bags but WAY TOO expensive. There are plenty of well-made bags for half the price.

      Just like a 20$ cellphone does all some people need, And yet some people need more. I rely so heavily on my edc bag, I cannot risk a malfunction. So to pay an extra 100$ for a bag is a no brainer

    Nothing new here. Same designs we've seen on hundreds of other bags. And, since it's Maxpedition, grossly overpriced.
