This is one of those types of gear that jumps out right away and says "Buy me." Thanks for turning me on to this.
love this backpack :D
Hi Lilly ; D
I don't understand why they don't make it anymore. This thing sold so well.
Wonderful to see you here on youtube, Mr. President. I and my voted for you wholeheartedly. I'm honored to send this message to you! I hope you see this.
I and my wife, lol!
Lilly, I love your site. You're super awesome !!!
THANK YOU!
I've been eyeing this very pack since I first heard of it. You give the most informative and concise reviews of anyone on RUclips. They are a joy to watch!
Again, after seeing your review I searched and search all over the internet for the best price. I found a Black Gyrfalcon at DVOR for $130.00 (Sept 2017 prices are still averaging $210.00) and immediately bought it. Thanks again for an awesome review.
I'm glad to know that this is a new product, versus one I somehow overlooked! I love my Falcon II, but if this was ever an option, there's no question I'd have bought this one! Fantastic review as always, Sootch!
Really enjoy your bag reviews! Been looking for a good useful BOB and your reviews are a tremendous help. Thanks a ton!
My man! I love how every pocket in the bag, you just pulled out more maxpedition pouches!
Sooch...You have the best informative videos ever...been watching you forever....but...when I need a smile!!!! I watch your over the land hikes through the woods....Oh my god...the world could be comeing to an end and you make me smile/laugh!!!! Keep it up my friend!!!
After researching the gyrfalcon and watching your video review a few times, I've finally bought one. I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces. The pack seem to be rugged and durable enough to withstand almost anything thrown at it.
hello from greece
im george diles.
i watch you and skiny medic every day thank you for your videos. with your ideas i have my family secure.thank you again
The GyrFalcon would be an excellent mid-size pack, in-between my ILBE pack and Condor Medium Assault Pack, Sootch! I was REALLY impressed with how well the pack hugged your torso while you did your woodlands acrobatics. You sold me on the GyrFalcon - and any Maxpedition pack is worth saving for!
Thank you Sootch! I was hoping to see the ventilation fabric! Wow, what a bag! Love the khaki! :-D
I’ve taken this backpack all over Europe flying on budget airlines including Ryanair no issues. Trekked Kilimanjaro, Everest base camp, Annapurna comfortable the entire time.
You have a beautiful backyard. Great review. Cheers from eastern NC.
+ShooterReady Thanks Brother.
when i need info on gears, bags, and guns, i turn to sootchoo review videos... very good
Beautiful woods sootch, I'm jealous.
I LOVE the idea of the removeable pouch at the bottom!
I'd probably take that off and use it with the waist belt, but turn it around so that the pouch would be in front and you can access it with the pack still on. Kind of like a tactical/hiking fanny pack.
I'd use the leftover room and the straps on the pack to hold a tarp or sleeping bag/MMSS.
luv the bloopers. great pack review
last quote was the best
agree the last comment at the end was the best.
That was so good music you put on this video and I was LOL at the end !
Glad I stayed through the credits. Look forward to the next one.
LOL...I'd love to watch the blooper reel of the intro - I'll bet their was a few changes of socks :)
I think I'm in love with this pack!
i believe this was originally supposed to release in early 2015, and I was really looking forward to reviewing it myself. A year later though, it seems a little lackluster compared to some of the other strong competitors that sprang up in 2015. Thanks for the review Don.
Love Maxpedition. Always great product.
The blue falcon reviews the Gyrfalcon, classic! Good job Sootch!!
dam Sootch your editing has gotten 100% better over the years so have the videos nice man.
+Spartan 04 Thank goodness. Those early videos were horrific! Lol! Thanks brother.
thanks Sootch00 I have been looking for a bigger pack my 5.11 covrt 18 is getting smaller and smaller.
thank for opening my eyes and helping me prep for natural disasters or SHTF.
That intro. So majestic.
I really like the tall slim design, I'm sure it's helpful hiking through the woods. Great looking pack!
+TheTacticalDefender That was a feature that I liked also. I wanted a pack that would stick to my body in case I have to do some running with it. I didn't want one that bounces too much when running. I ran a half mile with this and it fits great with little movement.
I just watched this video again. I AM going to buy one in Wolf Gray after the Holidays! This thing will be PERFECT for my needs!
Good luck. This thing is sold out everywhere except for very few places which doubled the price. meh
Yes, I have found that out. This is a BAD PR move on Maxpedition's part. For this reason, I'm now looking at Eberlestock. Specifically, I'm considering the Halftrack. I actually TOLD Maxpedition this-they have not responded in any way, shape or form. Again, BAD PR move, Maxpedition!
love your reviews
Absolutely awesome bag
yes! i was hoping for the maxpedition falco 3 but this will do. thanks
Very nice video!!! Thank you for share your experience! Thumb up!!!
love your channel sir
Excelente amigo bravo por tan buena descripción de la Maxpedition
Love your video's Keep them coming
Just bought the black gyrfalcon cant wait
I have used the falcon 2 for years (I have two for GHB in my cars) and was curious about this pack, thanks.
Good stuff ! Larger than my Falcon 2, but not bulky, and I like the modular lower section. Can't wait to see you review the new AGR packs !
great job on this review
Sootch, @ 9:20 when you talked about the strapat the top of the inside main pocket. Iguess you can use that for anything you please but I believe thatit is meant to secure your h2o bladder
Might consider buying one!
8:37 that opening for the water tube was difficult to find, thanks to your video, I got two 3L water bladders in this bag. That's over 1.5 gallons of H2O with me at all times!!!
Thanks! Very interesting pack!
the zippered pocket inside is just for the frame, the bladder goes in the elastic pocket
Great video again....really like maxpedition.....and I like to say god bless the world
Just bought one on strength of this review - looks a bit small but am hoping the design caters for better packing. Thanks SensiblePrepper!
Looks like a 5.11 rush grab handle... Very nice review yet again!
Hopefully I can get that backpack someday. I have the Falcon II and I love that pack.
Hello I just bought this bag using your discount code....Thanks to you I found out about this company
the first time I found shootches channel I look at how many subs he had expecting there to be way more than he had because of how good his vids are.
Excellent review on this pack. I have wanted a Falcon2 but have thought for my needs that it just didn't have enough room. The Gyrfalcon is perfect for a bob.
Falcon 3
great video as usual!!!
Cool review I would love to see you review the trident 32 and the market 45 both from vanquest I own a trident 32 in multicam black
great bag. one of the best
good video was thinking about getting a nother bag but think i will definitely try to find one of these good job
Nice pack :)
Thanks for the review - Martin
I am going to buy maxpedition water pouch it looks like they are made of good materials,
Thanks.
Ohh wow. Been looking forward to this review. The Gyrfalcon is every bit as awesome as i expected! And seems i need one in my life ;) Well, with Maxpedition one just can´t go wrong. And they just keep on getting better. Haha, you have been a bad influence in a good way since i subscribed to your channel. Even now looking around i see 4 Maxpedition packs in my living room. Your reviews on Maxpedition are great. In fact all your videos no matter what topic pretty much rock i´d say. Great channel indeed. Thumbs way up for sootch00/Sensible Prepper and Maxpedition :)
I would like to see what your loadout would be with this bag as a bug out bag. Organized and all the trimmings. Very interested in this bag would just like your take on it
congrats on 200k
+alec brown Thanks Alec!
You should review the Pygmy Falcon-II. seems like a nice bag to add to your collection of Maxpedition reviews.
wow, It looks high quality.
Only I need extra budget to get all them..LOOOL .
Thank you.
excelent vid, just ordered from this vid
I really wanted one of this pen that here in Brazil makes a quality backpack like that.
I like it. I'd add some hook and loop fields to the main compartment and a few straps to hold an AR taken down.
Hi Sootch, I've been waiting for this review, thanks. You seemed to have missed a pocket though, I was looking for a get home/bug out bag, could you please do a video with the bag fully stocked? I live in South Africa and work 96km (59.6 miles)(2 hours with good traffic
)from home, I have struggled a few times to get home due to riots and unfortunately we don't have forests to bug out to! I just want to get a setup for the day that I won't be able to get home for days!
Me and my buddies got to talkin. We thinking of a video concept of "A Day in the Life of a Prepper". A video to give us a glimpse of what you do on a day to day basis. Otherwise great video, can't wait for the next one.
If that was in my price range... yeah amazing bag!
Hey what kind of camera do you use? Great video, definitely my favorite maxpedition pack.
I ordered one today.
I just strapped my proteus to my Falcon 2 it works well for my
I've done the same thing. I can vouch for that.
Wisport Racoon 45L. The carrying system is adjustable and superb. The best BOB under 50 Liter capacity?
Excellent sir. Looking to buy this eventually and start prep work. Best review I've seen on the pack without people getting out and showing their gear rather than the bag. I was particularly fond on the 3 until I saw it's big gryfalcon brother! Haven't had a single doubt or bad feeling about this choice and I'm hoping to get into serious prepping. Would very much also appreciate the matter if this discount code is still available? Not at all an issue if it is not. Also happy 4th brother from across the pond 🇬🇧 bless you and loved ones.
I need one soon cheers
are you planing on doing any reviews on the new AGR gear they have coming out in June?
Was wondering if a bullistic plate would fit in where the water blatter would go and if so what would you go with?thanks
I have the falcon II. its a great bag
nice review.. and best video this backpack thanks this👍 one day i buy this.
Imagine if they had made it possible for you to also detach the other part of the bag. You would have three bags in one. That would be the ultimate backpack. But This was very informative and I’m going to get one.
I have this backpack in wolf gray I love it. I just took it on a 25 mile hike last Saturday. Its decently comfortable for hard use gear. Its not very big, smaller than I thought it was when I bought it. With the pack being divided into so many compartments for better organization, it makes the individual spaces smaller. I added two Janus pouches to the waist strap area and they work great. I added the single sheath to the shoulder strap for quick access to my knife and I added the triad pouch to the center of the bag for more outside organization. I am still trying to figure out if I can use this for an overnight. There is little room for something like a sleeping bag or sleep sack. The main compartment really is shallow, IMO :). Overall, I love this pack. I use it as my all day in the woods pack and I use the pygmy falcon as my daily EDC that I take to work.
+Davis Family oh, and I am an over packer so my pack was 53 pounds. I guess the size of the pack actually keeps me under control. As with all maxpeditin gear, I would wish for more internal packets on open areas, but still love them enough to stick with the brand.
Awesome
Cool pack.
another fantastic vid keep up the great work you are truly a great person it shows in every video.thanks but the sad part is my bank account is going to minus the price of anothergreat product. thanks again keeep it up.
Damn! They thought of everything with that pack.
Great review, the GYRFALCON was used in ALIEN COVENANT and will you be reviewing on the FALCON 3 BACKPACK🎒
If I were to start out with just one maxpedition pack for a two to three day camping or backpacking trip what would you recommend
Very helpful review Sir. I am wondering that i am 1m80 cm (5ft9). Can i fit in this bag? Thank you sir.
I'm buying this
Excellent backpack! I am definitely getting one!
Thanks for giving me yet another excuse to spend more money. Ha ha ha.
How is the weight distribution in terms of the hip belt? It looks a really nice pack, I've had my eye on it for a while - I just can't justify spending that much just now though.
The backpack seems like a good addition to what ever gear your planning on taking with you when you bug out. However, I do have some questions.
The first question is, how do you keep your gear from moving around? For example, if you're carrying an ar15, or a large ak. The way you carry it on your side, like you showed us in this video, seems very uncomfortable, because you always have to keep your hand on it, from moving around. I suppose you could always carry a pouch on your right side of the belt, to rest the hand and the rifle on it, but, do you usually tuck it in somewhere?
Another question would be, what kind of clothes would you take with you for a bug out situation, if you needed to stay in the wild for an extended period of time. Would you wear your plate carrier or keep it in your backpack? Do you recommend a gas mask of some sort?
If the situation goes to the point where a firefight is imminent or atleast foreseeable, would you still recommend this backpack (I imagine a smaller backpack, like the falcon would be alot more comfortable and would stick out less) and what gear would you recommend?
If I would plan to bug out, I'd make sure I could carry all of my primary gear on me, but what would you take and keep in your truck?
do you prefer the backpack or the sling bag for edc or even an urban get home bag... maybe 10-15# of gear
Hi! Just a little update. I now have a Maxpedition Gyrfalcon Backpack-LOVE IT!!!! I keep it in my Pickup at all times. I have TWO Water filters, TWO Flashlights, a 9 source Fire Kit, Shelter, Food & Cooking setup, some extra clothing, some ham radio gear and it is provisioned for myself for EIGHT DAYS!
This past week, my truck was unavailable to me due to a weather event, so the wife and I shared HER car for four days. The Gyrfalcon stayed in my truck. Though I had no emergencies happen, I got to thinking: What if something happens and my Gyrfalcon is 20 miles away?! Or, what if some human caused event takes place and Im cutoff from my truck? So, I'm thinking of getting a little Falcon II and setting it up for my basic emergency needs for 2-3 Days just in case. The Gyrfalcon is the Mother Ship & the Falcon II would ALWAYS be with me away from my Truck, regardless of where I am or what I'm doing, and will serve as an EDC "Lifeboat", with duplication of my must-haves to survive. If I still have to book for home on foot, I'll go back to my truck, pull the EDC gear in the Falcon II, transfer it back to the Gyrfalcon, (assuming I can get to it-if not, I'm still provisioned for the minimum 3 days) and off for home I'll go.
REPLY
Thumbs way up!
how would a quiver or shotgun scabbard do riding to the left or right of the pack?
I've tried ordering the same Gyrfalcon backpack in Khaki. Maxpedition is sleeping when it comes to restocking items. They only have it in black which I have no use because I've already ordered add ons in Khaki. Pretty disappointed with Maxpedtion.
Hey Sooch. You said that the water bladder compartment is in a zippered compartment within the main pocket. This is the same pocket where you said the card was (this is the internal frame sheet with the aluminum stay). Are you sure about the intended location of a water bladder?
The industry standard (for as long as internal framed backpacks have been around) is that the sleeve outside of this zippered compartment is where a water bladder goes. You see this in pretty much every backpack with an internal frame and water bladder sleeve.
The bladder should go in the pouch in the main compartment
