Agreed. The suit styles you see nowadays is so bad. I see lapels way too thin, jackets too short showing the man's buttocks, cuffs never showing, people not steaming and ironing and looking like a wrinkled mess! And don't even get me started on the short pants that reveal the ankles and socks or when people do that with a no show sock. And the double slit in the back.... man I HATE the double slit in the back of jackets🤣classic style is one slit only in the back!!! Standards were way higher back then. How they should be.
Really glad I came across your channel! I have been looking for a pair of decent brogues that won’t break the bank, and your tips on how long a gent’s jacket should be is great appreciated.
Great video as always. I love the cut of the suits and is something I always wear, traditional cut, longer length etc..Btw the first non British Bond was George Lasenby as he was Australian.
I love your videos!! Could you make a video on the suits in „The Night Manager“ - Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie? In my humble opinion, Hiddleston would have made a great Bond! Thank you so much!
Probably an embarrassing admission, I pretty much have the GoldenEye outfit (The DB5 Drive scene), Cravat and all. I just loved that look. Quite reminiscent of what Edward Fox wore in the Day of the Jackal.
@@onyx2626 I tend to gravitate with Fleming, John le Carré and Frederick Forsyth for literature and Film/TV adaptations (As well as steal a few sartorial tips from them) and there is no better than DOTJ and that Alpha Romeo, there is not much better in the way of classic 2 seater IMO, pure class.
In the Brosnan era James Bond regained lost popularity, but at the same time became mostly action focused movies and ads for international fashion, watches and cars. And in some countries, probably guns as well.
Great video, I just want to point out that Church's are not made in the North of England. They are made in Northampton, which is firmly in the midlands of England.
@@ForTheLoveOfSuits - don’t forget to mention Moore’s _Live and Let Die_ Tissot - it’s bloody brilliant when Bond provides affordable precedents on screen and his Tissot is so rarely considered, and although my own best watches are Breitlings I still have more Tissots which are damned near invulnerable ‘daily beater’ watches.
The Herring shoes you are referring to in the video are made in Portugal though. I think Cheaney is a great alternative to Church's (I own several pairs of both brands) as Jonathan and William Church bought the company Cheaney after Prada bought Church's.
I’m OK with a DB jacket worn open only if it’s one piece of a two-piece suit showing off some decent paddled suspenders under it _a.l.a._ Leslie Odom Jr.’s look in _Glass Onion,_ especially if the trousers’ pleats are tailored their correct reverse pleats form 👍
Great observations, totally agree that Brosnan was the last "well-suited" Bond. That said, do you think the classical cut flattered Craig? The suits in Craig's "Casino Royale" were more classically cut -- and made him look like he was playing dress up (especially the three piece at the very end, which overwhelmed him), so I'm not surprised Craig went the skinny-fit route. Craig's Tom Ford suits in his second outing found the sweet spot between classic and contemporary -- and then Craig/Ford went over the edge for the remainder of Craig's tenure. And while Craig failed on the suiting side, what do you think of his Bond's casual style? Easily the best of the Bonds.
Their shoes made in Portugal are produced by Carlos Santos and are excellent quality. They are an alternative for those who don't have the budget for shoes made in the UK.
Always an interesting perspective, much appreciated. IMHO , apart from the obvious non-British items you mention which are unfortunate if you're a stickler for detail, I believe Brosnan was just too 'pretty' in his younger years and Brioni made him even more runway model like for an operative. I would even say Brosnan started to look a bit 'stiff' in his suits which we all know morphed into Craig's stuffed sausage look unfortunately. I wish they could have taken a page out of Patrick McGoohan 's look in Danger Man from the 60s with a slight tweak to update the look but remain fluid like a conduit cut suit!? I digress....enough LOL.
Your best bet is to go into any small menswear store where they make MTM. They all also do off the rack and should have fabrics from Huddersfield and other producers from the UK that are not too expensive. You could of course check out Drakes if you don't mind spending money.
Well Sir Connery was Scottish, Lazenby was Australian, Dalton was born in Wales, Brosnan was Irish, so the only real English Gentlemen were Sir Moore and Craig.
Craig was actually the worst dressed Bond when he was wearing suits, he looked so silly with thin legs and badly looking suit. Connery and Brosnan are the greatest dressed ever.
The *first* was Barry Nelson. Just not in cinema.
Wow! And the first of 3 versions of Casino Royale. You learn something new every day.
I would love to see a Bond watches video! Brosnan is my favorite, I’m glad you’ve started reviewing his movies!
These classic suit looks are eye candy. Thanks for another entertaining video.

Brosnan looked fantastic in a suit.
He was born in a suit
@ He could have been a Brioni model
Just discovered your amazing chanel and directly subscribed. Sincrely a Bond Fan
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Simply loving this content. So many good insights to take into consideration in my future wardrobe choices
So glad to be of help.

This channel is great, keep up the good work!
Thanks, will do!
Pierce was class and they brought his tenure to an end too soon.
I love your videos!!

Great suggestion!
Yes definitely on the Bond watches video!
Probably an embarrassing admission, I pretty much have the GoldenEye outfit (The DB5 Drive scene), Cravat and all. I just loved that look. Quite reminiscent of what Edward Fox wore in the Day of the Jackal.
Not embarrassing at all. Well done. But do you have the DB5 to go with it?
@ probably even more embarrassing, an aging Jaguar X-Type that I sometimes fantasise it’s a DB5 lol
@@05Rudey Carry on sir. I live in Hollywood, but I will buy a pint for any man who likes DOTJ! I like to pretend my Miata is an Alfa Romeo like Fox's.

There is this show called 'Ballers' . When you have the time you should really check out the suits worn by Dwayne Johnson throughout the show.
Haven't heard of it so I'll check it out.

I live in Hawaii so I'm not so inclined to wear suits, but I do have a healthy interest in watches.
Great video, I just want to point out that Church's are not made in the North of England. They are made in Northampton, which is firmly in the midlands of England.
Ooops. I need to brush up on my geography. Thanks for the check.
love these videos =)
Thank you. Glad you like them!
Please give us a video on Bond watches. Thank you.🤵⌚🔥
Excellent. I'd love to and it's obviously popular.

Great. I've been waiting for you move on form Daniel Craig.
I might not be totally finished yet but for the moment I'm starting the Pierce Brosnan series. He's got 3 more movies.
Thank #### for that
I was never a Craig fan
Bitterly disappointed in his casting

Chaeney are excellent. I have a pair of boots and very happy with them.

Agree on his casual wardrobe.
In my opinion Knives out/glass onion showed that Craig in actually classically cut suits works extremely well!
The last real gentleman-bond. It's been a long time...
You are correct in your observations, except of course that Xenia was amazing. Great movie, that said.
Please do bond watch videos
Just checked out Herring shoes, unfortunately most are made overseas; India, Turkey, Portugal. I only saw shoes costing £900+ made in Britain.
Their shoes made in Portugal are produced by Carlos Santos and are excellent quality. They are an alternative for those who don't have the budget for shoes made in the UK.
Love this Bond film. Another film that Brosnan gets overlooked in, is The Forth Protocol with Michael Caine.
That's interesting. I haven't seen that and I'm a big Michael Caine fan. Must look into it.
@ Brosnan wears some good casual pieces, but nothing to write home about, concerning the fashion.
I like your jacket.
Thanks you so much.

A great read. I was big McGoohan fan. Must look up some of those old episodes of Danger Man and The Prisoner.
@@ForTheLoveOfSuits Thank you! McGoohan would have made a great Bond.
Got to disagree with you on Famke. Loved her as Ms. Onatopp.
Have you perhaps seen the movie "The Martian"? I would love to hear your thoughts about the suits in the film a part of the space suits of course :D
I have a while back but didn't notice the suits. Time for another look.
Where do you recommend getting good value off the rack suits in the UK with fabric from good English mills?
Your best bet is to go into any small menswear store where they make MTM. They all also do off the rack and should have fabrics from Huddersfield and other producers from the UK that are not too expensive. You could of course check out Drakes if you don't mind spending money.
George Lazenby. He was Australian, but everyone kind of forgets that, and just about everything else about him as Bond, which is a shame
It is a shame that he gets overlooked so often.
Honourable mention to Q's very British tweed 3 piece.
Indeed the last well dressed Bond
Db5 is the best aston ever
The suits of Marks and Spencer are not pure wool suits, as James Bond would wear. M&S suits are mostly polyester.
True. You will always get what you pay for.
I hope next bond drive. Bentley
Plz do watches
OK. I'll start preparing that. I do love watches but only have a very small collection myself.
Well Sir Connery was Scottish, Lazenby was Australian, Dalton was born in Wales, Brosnan was Irish, so the only real English Gentlemen were Sir Moore and Craig.
Nice rundown.
Interesting that the movie effects look more dated than Pierce Brosnan suits
I did find the stunts and sound effects to be quite old fashioned.
Clearly the Irish have great style too… 😉
Sean Connery was Scottish but that counts as British right?
It does. It's not Sean Connery. He's sometimes forgotten.
@@ForTheLoveOfSuits Beyond me.
Certainly more stylish than Craig.
Are they not all British. I can’t think of one. Even including David Niven.
You've missed done but well done for knowing about David Niven. Although technically he was Sir James Bond in the movie.
Brosnan was the last real James Bond
Craig was actually the worst dressed Bond when he was wearing suits, he looked so silly with thin legs and badly looking suit. Connery and Brosnan are the greatest dressed ever.
Time and perspective is proving this to be true!
Disagree
Hard disagree
Both Brosnan and Craig had style. It was just bad style. Poor Pierce and those horrible Michael Scott ties...
The 'tactical' jacket looked more like a fishing vest. So for all you fans out there, head to your nearest bait and tackle 🎣
Brosnan wore a 41mm Seamaster in Goldeneye. Not 42mm. It didn’t increase in size until 2018. 🤦🏻
