  • A video to compare the EPOS Sennheiser GSP 670 with the SteelSeries Arctis Pro wireless. Two premium headsets but with quite different features.
    EPOS GSP 670:
The EPOS SENNHEISER GSP 670 wireless headset, a pricey, beautiful, well-made and great sounding gaming headset with one heck of a price tag. It features Bluetooth and wireless connectivity and will work with PS4, PC and phones/tablets or other Bluetooth devices.
See my unboxing of this headset here (with mic test) - • EPOS Sennheiser GSP 67...
Highlights of the EPOS GSP 670 for me include:
    - Fantastic build quality with a stylish finish
    - Excellent adjustable clamping force and headband size
    - Great microphone with adjustable noise cancellation settings and more
    - Comfortable padded ear cups
    - Insane passive noise cancellation (I can't hear my wife)
    - Good battery life
    - Dual connectivity with Bluetooth and wireless modes or plugged in
    - Intelligent sleep mode helps it save battery
    - Removable/replaceable earcups
    - Game/VOIP balance and intelligent buttons like the switch to tell you how much battery is left
    Lowlights of this headset:
    - Ears get hot
    - Sidetone is too low even on max meaning it's hard to hear yourself
    - It might block out too much noise
    - Micro USB connection only so no 3.5mm or USB-C options
    - Wireless range is fairly poor
    - Verges on being too tight on your noggin.
    - Microphone cannot be detached
    - It's chunky AF
    Specs of this headset are:
    Ear coupling Around ear
    Transducer principle Dynamic, closed
    Connectivity Low-latency and Bluetooth®
Cable length 1.5 m USB cable
    Connector plugs USB
Compatibility PC, Mac OSX, PS4, Mobile/tablet

    SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless
The SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless was/is one of my favourite wireless gaming headsets. It's not as comfortable as the EPOS GSP 670 but offers more connectivity options thanks to that nifty control box. Also things like hot-swappable batteries mean you basically never need to plug it in to charge. A retractable microphone, swappable headband and ear cups make it customisable too.

One important feature that was a decision point between SteelSeries vs. EPOS that I didn't hear you mention is that the SteelSeries truly mixes the PC / PS4 and Bluetooth audio (both sources can play their audio at the same time, and volume levels mixed as desired), whereas Sennheiser simply allows for the audio to switch between PC / PS4 and mobile. The SteelSeries approach worked more consistently, reliably, and provided more flexibility for me. SteelSeries can also allow for PC audio, PS4 audio, and mobile audio all at once (USB to PC, optical in to PS4, set source to PS4) when desired which has been really nice for me.
Worth noting that even with latest firmware I still experienced the issue with the EPOS Sennheiser GSP 670 that other reviews have mentioned with random audio crackle / cutout while using a Logitech wireless mouse as well, which was a deal breaker for me.
SteelSeries wins for me on flexibility and functionality, even if the audio crackle / cutout issue wasn't present with the GSP 670.

And can you explain what is the intend of connecting to listenning to 2 or even 3 sources at the same time!? Sorry but it seems just like a party trick...but the conection can be a real issue indeed.

@@Niidea1986 For me, being able to take a call while still having game audio has been really nice. Phone notifications also come through while game audio continues, can watch a video quickly or any other use of the phone while still receiving PC audio, etc. Also would be helpful if you're on console only as you can listen to music via your phone / watch videos on your phone seamlessly while still gaming / getting game audio.
The 3 sources in particular for me is great because it means I never have to deal with more than one headset. I can play on console while still receiving PC audio (watch a video, listen to music, etc.), can still chat on Discord, and on top of all that could take a phone call while all of that is still accessible. No longer have to mess with Astro Mixamp and/or a separate headset, can do it all in one which no other headset brings to the table that versatility for me.
Add on to that great wireless reception, solid audio, solid virtual surround sound, customizable EQ - no other headset can do all the things that this can do in one piece of hardware. And that doesn't even get into the awesome solution to wireless battery.
Obviously different people will value different things, but for me the functionality is unprecedented and I won't be going back to any headset that can't give me this level of functionality.

@@Niidea1986 my girlfriend and I are in a long distance relationship due to covid and as such we are on facetime 24/7. Having a headset that can receive two signals simultaneously has increasingly become a necessity for me as it means I can game, etc while being on facetime without having to have one earcup off so I can hear my girlfriend. I also have a surface pro that I like to use on my bed and the benefit of having both 2.4ghz and bluetooth wireless is that I can keep the low-latency 2.4ghz on my pc for gaming while also having the flexibilty to use the laggier bluetooth connection for other devices such as my surface and phone.

I’ve been an owner of the Astro’s, TB, and SteelSeries..
Buyer beware STEEL SERIES headsets. While they are great with sound and comfort, the poor design of the headset shoots its durability in the to the ground. I take pride in my possessions and always treat things with care, I have OCD. Within 4 months, the headset on the ear cuffs cracked beyond repair and there are replacement parts on the market for that. Steel Series really needs to reconsider their headset design, and I’m not exactly happy with their customer service either, they were no help and actually seemed like they didn’t want to be bothered.
If you’re reading this, I would stick with EPOS or Astros, Hyper X are pretty good too.

I just bought the Arctis Pro Wireless after having tried the lower tier GSP370 which has a very similar form factor as the GSP670. The Arctis is hands down way more comfortable. Earcups on both headsets are on the small side but the Arctis fits more easily and comfortably over my ear due to the neutral, oval shape and supple padding. The Sennheiser's ear cups are an awkward wedge shape which required a fair bit of finagling to get completely over my ears. I'm also a fan of fabric earpads over the vinyl (faux leather) earpads which not only get hot but crack and peel over time.

I have the Steel Series Arctis Pro Wireless. How are these considered open back? From what I understand, open back have a perforated outer shell. What part of the Arctis shell is perforated? There are a few tiny holes, under the magnetic panel, on the side that holds the battery. There are no holes on the other side.
Also, the Steel Series definitely don't have the most solid construction. I've had 3, or maybe 4, pairs of them. My first pair broke within a year. They replaced them under warranty. That pair broke in about the same amount of time. They replaced them again. This time, the headset had a slight redesign. I hoped they would be a little stronger. They were not. And Steel Series wouldn't replace them again. They always broke in the same place, where the band connects to the ear cup. I assume this is intentional planned obsolescence, as those parts should obviously be made of metal, not fucking plastic shit. They cost 300-400 USD, they shouldn't break so easily.
Last thing, the range on the Arctis is awesome. Even through walls, concrete, and earth, they remain clear and consistent. I was very impressed.
    RIP

Have owned both and kept the 670. The hardware solution steel series uses for an interface vs the Epos software is a big plus but the sound quality of the 670 is so much better. Much deeper, tighter bass and better highs. Mic has a more full sound and no background hissing when nothing is being played. Steel Series is lighter on the head and a nice package but when compared back to back it's hard to recommend an audio device that sounds inferior. I wanted to love the SS headset but it was a let down and sent it back.

I've owned the Steelseries Arctis 7 and use the GSP 670 currently, so I cant comment on the performance of the Wireless Pro, I can comment on the build and comfort of a SteelSeries headset in the same line.
Pad size: The SS had a much larger ear space than the GSP. I wouldn't say I preferred either. I have generally large ears, with a pronounced antihelix due to cauliflower ear from years of BJJ (yes I had to look up ear anatomy) and neither of the drivers touched my obnoxious ears. The GPS ear pads are more of a snug fit, but they still contact my head rather than my ears, which is good.
Cooling: I had to chuck out my SS headset after my dog took it for a chew toy so I can't directly compare any more- I don't recall the SS headset being overly warm, it never really bothered me. The GSP on the other hand are very warm. It's still quite hot in Australia right now, and when I take my headset off my ears are soaked. As a result, the GSP ear pads have disintegrated in the space of 2 years, I've just ordered a new set of cooling pads, so hopefully they make a difference.
Headband: My biggest gripe with the GSP is the headband. I have come to realise that I must have quite a long, narrow head, because the GSPs are clearly made for someone with a much wider, shorter noggin. They are obnoxiously wide. I feel like an NFL coach when I wear them. I actually refuse to wear them when I'm on a Skype call, and resort to using inbuild laptop speakers and mic, because they look so comically big. With that said, They really clamp down on the top of my head and I quickly develop a pressure point there. With the headset at full length (which makes them much wider, and a little taller) I have to adjust them to ride up on my ear a little bit, which makes the sound muffled, but slightly alleviates the pressure on the top of my head. I never appreciated the simple genius of the SS ski goggle design until I replaced my broken SS headset with the GSPs.
Mic: I love the flip-up-to-mute function on the GSP, its very intuitive. The mic sound is clear on both, I have no real complaints.
There is an issue with the placement of the roller for the chat mix feature on the GSP though. If I turn my head while wearing a hoody, the chat mix dial gets turned down as it rubs on the hood around my neck, and I usually don't realise until it dawns on me that I haven't heard from my buddies in a while, or one othem messages me on Discord saying "Your dialed out chat mix nobhead, and give me a healing rift dammit!". The SS headset had a simple mute button which was convenient, and a red light on the mic which I could see in my peripheral vision, which let me know I was muted.
Connecivity: SS headset never had any issues connecting to PC or PS4. The GSP never fails to turn on when on PC, if there's ever a connection issue, it's always because Audio Device Switcher has updated and dropped my shortcuts or some other PC related issue. The GSP however, doesn't connect in any way to XB Series X. I only got the XB after I got my GSP so I can't comment on the SS connectivity to it, but I understand there is a xbox/PC version of the SS wireless pro.
The GSP can't mix 2 inputs either. Wen it's connected to my PC via the wireless dongle, it'll only put out PC sound. My phone, however, doesn't know that. My phone broadcasts to the headset via BT thinking all is well, so I need to switch my audio profile on my PC to speakers so I can take a call or watch a quick YT video on my phone.
Currently I'm torn between putting up with the discomfort of the GSP until it breaks, or just shelling out for a SS Pro Wireles

I would go with EPOS, I personally had the SteelSeries. They aren’t bad headset but they have a poor design that makes the durability of the headset problematic. The ear cuffs with crack, I only had mines for 4 months and the left ear cracked open and the right had to two small cracks in it. Customer service wasn’t so pleasant to deal with also. EPOS with the GSX Amp is the way to go, but that’s if you want to spend the extra cash.

IE a speak capable of playing from 5-40khz, distort less between 20hz - 18kHz than a speak only just able to achieve 20khz. but it is not relevant here because the speakers can achieve 40khz.

@@unclebary519 Not true. It wholly depends on the developer. Der are many ways to send wireless audio without any loss. Also for Bluetooth alone have slot of compression algorithms which can provide lossless audio. Arctic pro wireless uses SBC codec to compress which is an open standard that is compatible with most. SBC have been known to be a very lossy algorithm, but it's mostly due to that fact that all the features usually are not take advantage of. Seeing that SBC max samplings rate is 48khz which would make I possible to decide audio slightly above 22kHz, but Arctic them self state that they do not go over 20kHz. Would suggest to me that they are not using the SBC codec to its fullest.
Also note that the SBC codec is a low power codec which is why it's widely used in battery driven devices.

@@Asif-gv3dn It does but that's the problem. If you do a frequency sound test you will see you wont hear anything under 20Hz and over 20KHz. Also the wired version isnt always in Hi Definition sound and you need to switch it on from the game dac. This then enables the higher frequencies that is advertised but at the cost of positional audio and the mic due to not enough bandwidth for it all. If that's the case with the wired version ofcourse it will be worse with wireless as they're even less bandwidth available. I researches this after putting it on and being disappointed of it's quality then just sent it back.
