    Love that the scientists saw a large cockroach infestation and their FIRST thought was "hey let's engineer death mantises" like I feel like that should have been an idea left on the drawing board.

    • @bobbuilder155
      @bobbuilder155 2 года назад +25

      That idea crested a good movie, unlike modern movies who care about the drawing board and end up making boring movies because their afraid of taking a chance, alien predator 1 and 2, species trilogy, doom, dream catcher, tremors trilogy, the cave, primeval , relic, hills have eyes 1 and 2 , probably not successful movies but they are my favourites.

      Oh you think thats fiction? We do that already humans a have been doing that for hundreds of years. In the past we used other species to manage the population of other insects/pest to protect out crops and other stuff.
      In recent years we genetically engineered mosiqitous to control mosquitos population and reduce the spread of disease spread by them. Instead of chemicals. ( sound awefully similar to this movie right??)

      @RipleyandWeeds in reality, engineer the death mantises would be a better option to cull down the cockroach population.
      Pesticides do not necessarily kill all the cockroaches. Those buggers especially the bigger ones are pretty resilient and even alive when you try to stomp them with your foot.

    Who wrote the screenplay really did their homework, the limiting factor of insect and arachnids right now is because they not have lungs, but a primitive tubular system that let oxygen flow trough their bodies, in prehistory, prior the dinosaurs, the atmosphere was more dense, with more oxygen letting the insect grow to huge sixes, even to the sixes of average man, but now that the atmosphere is thinner, the insect cant grow as large, but if they develop lugs, they can grow sizes only limited by their exoskeleton.

    I remember watching this as a kid on home video. It terrified me so much that for a long while I was scared AF of cockroaches. Especially when it flies.
